Great phone!!!! This is the best phone ever! It does everything the iPhone does. people actualy think that you are using an iPhone when they see you using it. There are loads of great apps from the Android market place, just like Apple's App Store. The screen is as capacative (just like the iPhones) and you really feel like you are on a 3Gs when you move around. The only problem so far is that voice recognition seems to be disabled, but there must be an app or domething to get it working.

I tried the HTC Desire on Orange for 7 days. I have to say the phone was outstanding and did everything and more. The android operating system is superb. However , there was one major problem with the phone.....the battery ! . After getting advice i was told to turn off this and turn off that to save power , but that defeated the object of why i wanted the phone in the first place. On a good day my battery would last about 8 hours and that was light usage. On one day i had a 15 minute phone call and the battery dropped around 50%. Orange changed the phone but the problem did not improve. I was absolutely gutted but i had to send the phone back . If you don't mind buying a spare battery or charging every few hours then this phone is for you. Im sure HTC will address this issue soon and when they do i will try the phone again.

Stupid we all give 5 stars althogh we do complain about features. why is everybody satisfied so quickly? The phone has bad battery everybody says, in sunlight difficult to read and exchange sync doe snot include tasks. that is 3 times a negative..worth 5 stars? don't think so. In stead of all the useless comments, I would rather read exact specs what peopple are missing, so that you can determine if the phone suits your needs. Comments are so useless often...waste of time for reading.

Just got it for barely 6 days, and I'm loving it! Loveee the home screen variety, as well as the customization. Photo apps in the market are really good too! 2 down points however, is the battery life (runs out fast esp when surfing the net) and that apps couldn't be saved in the SD card. Hope Android 2.2 would overcome this problem. Overall, still an excellent phone for user experience!

3 network user beware This a message from the 3 network taken from a web chat with their technical team. "I have some information from the manufacturer regarding this issue.During testing we saw that the handset may spend extended times on our National Roaming Partner Network. The handset may appear on NRP more often or even a greater chance of call setup failures. This is a design limitation of the handset and HTC are not planning to fix this issue. Compared to other devices you may have used in the past this handset may experience slower browsing speeds and also limited access to various applications". When asked about what can I do now that I have bought it, but not aware of these issues at the time, the response was "I would suggest that you contact customer services regarding your handset as it is something that the manufacturer has made us aware of". Great phone, just wish I had bought it on another network.

Had this phone for about 4 weeks now and i have to say its the best phone ive ever had!(and im hard to please!), easy to use, massive features, responsive screen and fast browsing. I got an amazing deal from T Mobile too and it comes with 3gb of browsing data. Excellent screen and you can set multiple "scenes" as your home page. Great app,s navigation, screen very responsive,Downsides - battery drains in a day, camera is good but only in the right light conditions. If taking pics in low light or indoors, any movement blurs the picture. Also, no equaliser on the media player either (unless i cant find it!) and the Facebook for android app isnt very functional. But all-in-all, better and less common than an i-phone ! Get one -but get a case and screen protector for it

The Desire is a stunning piece of high tech communication equipment. Had mine three weeks now on Vodafone. Screen is excellent indoors, but almost invisible in sunlight, quite useless in fact. It's important to fully charge battery before use and then let it discharge fully before charging - do this three or four times when you first get the phone. If you download apps, use appkiller to close them down after using. I had to send the first Desire back as couldn't hear callers - they sound like broken microphone! Have to do the same again as the replacement is no better. Iphones on O2 in my office work perfectly - head and shoulders above Desire on call quality and screen outdoors. Desire is great on internet, facebook etc., but useless if the phone element is no good. One other review here said the same. If the phone worked I would give it 5 stars.

It has been now about 2 months that I have had my HTC Desire and I must say HTC have come a long way to clearly surpass Apple on their current iPHONE 3g S. There have been many praises about this phone and deservedly so, however there are a few areas-that remind oneself that HTC are on a steep learning curve and still need to improve more than a little. The first is the sound-quality of their video recording- which is sketchy at best, even in the best quality. This I hope will improve when the update Andriod 2.2 (Froyo) is made available on June 24th.-when 720p HD video will become a reality along with xDivd support. Sony Ericsson is the benchmark on Camera-phone video, with a close second by Nokia. The second is the (Still) camera-though 5 megapixel with all the features of autofocus and face-detection-still struggles-albiet slightly- with low-light(resulting in streaking) and also does not have any image-stabilizing. The Xenon-flash is offcourse very important and missing, however I was pleasantly surprised how well the LED flash performed especially in low-light colour-balance. The battery-life could be better, however if one uses app-killer application and switch on HSDPA/WiFi/Bluetooth only when needed it could quite comfortably last 2 days with medium usage of all main features. The touchscreen response goes a bit awry when the phone is held face down-like when one would be holding it over head while reclined in bed. Perhaps a position that HTC may not have tested its multi-touch response and general usability. To be fair, it is not for long nor often that one would use the phone in this position, however it was something of note- I havent done the same with the iPhone although I suspect it would still provide consistent performance even held in that position. All the points (4) above are quite minor in comparison to the overall user-experience of the phone and that is probably what explains its phenomenal success-top selling smart phone over the past 2 months beating the iPhone as well! It is much better than the Sony Ericsson X10 and now has a smaller sibling (HTC Wildfire) ready to hit the market. While I would like to award it 5 stars, it still false short in these areas and so I will reserve 5 stars for such a phone that does what the HTC Desire and maintains that through all the points I have raised above. I would however say it will be amongst the most talked about phones of 2010 and mark a really milestone in HTC's history of development.

I have had the HTC Desire for 5 days on the 3 network and had to contact 3 to find out why there was little or no Signal or 3 G on my handset. The desire also switched to no signal quite often and spent most of its time on 3's National Roaming Partner Network. When I finally got an answer from 3 this is what they told me... 'During testing we saw that the handset may spend extended times on our National Roaming Partner Network. The handset may appear on NRP more often or even a greater chance of call setup failures. This is a design limitation of the handset and HTC are not planning to fix this issue. Compared to other devices you may have used in the past this handset may experience slower browsing speeds and also limited access to various applications'. The phone itself was fantastic in design and application use but i needed to make calls and send texts on my phone as well, so I have swapped it for SE X10. I agree with some of the points from the other reviews and a friend has it on vodafone with excellent service. But if you are on the 3 network please be aware and make use of the 14 day money back guarantee. Phone 5 stars.. but on 3 network - 2 stars.

Never had a touch screen phone before, was not creaming my pants over the iphone like every other person in the world. It is just a phone after all. Decided to go with the HTC Desire and am in love. I can't believe I get so excited about a phone. Amazing, easy to use and looks bloody lovely. Still learning how to use parts of it, but so far it's the best phone I have ever had. Ever

I have had this phone for several months now and it is fair to say that it does everything that I could ask of it. Work and personal email are both catered for. Google Maps and Navigation work well. Internet is well catered for. Apps are numerous and cater to all functions. From office apps, social networking to local reviews for restaurants all are there. Even DropBox is so I have access to a repository of material. The keyboard's autocorrect system is extremely helpful. I only notice it by its absence in some apps - and how my typing speed slows. This is the first phone I've got on a 24 month contract as bar loosing it it'll serve me for at least that long.

Ive just upgraded to this phone after owning the Sony Ericsson Satio since last October. This phone is easily the best phone ive ever owned and is everything the Satio should have been. It doesn't have the 12 mega-pixel camera of the Satio but the one it does has is surprisingly good. Yes I know the battery life isn't great but considering all the things this phone can do including powering a 1Ghz processor I don't think I can complain. At the end of the day its almost like having a laptop that you can fit in your pocket! In a nutshell superb!!!

Easy for me to say this is the bestestest fone i've ever owned, as it is my first smart/touchscreen variety. I really fancied the Omnia II and was considering getting that earlier this year. However, i hesitated and ended up with the Desire to my utmost delight. I've had it now for about one month and am still getting acquainted. It simply is a super fone and I eagerly await the forthcoming OS update to 2.2. I hope to update this post as i get to grips with the phone. :) :) :)

This is the best phone I have ever owned and is the best phone I have even touched! It easily beats the competition including the iPhone and so I defitely recommend purchasing it. I have had it for well over a month and I still think it is the best phone around and what's more a better phone hasn't even been announced for the UK - let alone been released. Plus, it will soon become even better once it is updated to Android 2.2. Would definitely recommend this phone!

Got my new Desire two weeks ago, and as most reviews have said, it is a very desirable phone. I had a problem when trying to link it (via bluetooth) with my incar audio system for making and receiving handsfree calls. Unfortunately after making one call the phone automatically disconnects and to reconnect had to switch phone off and then on again. I had many discussions and e-mails with HTC and they blamed the problem on my cars system, at no stage did even hint the phone might be faulty. I discussed the same with Orange my network provider and they immediately confirmed the phone was faulty. Phone now replaced and works as it should...in short a great phone, but HTC not very supportive or helpful when having a problem

For those wanting voice to text for this brilliant phone, do a search in google for "enable voice to text desire" Pretty cool. After letting it discharge fully, then charging about 3 times, battery life is now good for such a Smart Phone.
