was quite reluctant to get rid of my faithful Motorola Razor, but not everything lasts forever! so hearing and seeing so many good reviews about the Desire, i went ahead and treated myself to one. and yes it awsome in every way, however the battery life is abit pants!! and could be better. also i was very dissapointed to learn that the phone gives NO notification to the fact that you've had a missed text or call!!! the only way is to keep turning it on to check whether you have or have not! i find this dissapointing in such a smart phone as it was a VERY useful adition which was availabe on the Motorola. A LOUD bleep would sound ever couple of minutes or so to inform you of this, and would stop only when you acknowlaged it. SIMPLE idea; and VERY MUCH MISSED.

So glad I choose the Desire White. Looks great and does all I wanted it to do. After my Palm Lifedrive's drop, I did intensive research for a replacement. No phone compared better for the price. After some software issues that I e-mailed htc about, I even had a call from htc Africa, from their offices in Cairo! Any other cellphone manufacturers try and beat that. I will definately upgrade to another htc once this contract is done.

This is a great phone is most areas, but the biggest let down is the lack of phone memory for applications! There are numerous formus full of people complaining that after downloading a relatively small number of apps the phone is "FULL" and unable to fit any more onto the device. Moving some apps to the SD card helps, but not for long. I have a handful of apps, and there are loads more I would like to get to fully utilise the power of the handset. But for some crazy reason HTC decided to provide such a small memory that it is not possible. COuld have been so good, get the Desire S, more memory. I'm stuck with this now for the next year.

The Desire is an excellent phone, when you get it, but after about a year things go abit adrift. Apps are very useful and work extremely well. BUT if like me you download more than a few then the desire will struggle to run and will constantly be running out of space, even after moving them to the sd card. I have on the whole really enjoyed my experience with the desire, just keeping the app addiction under control, does help enormasly. Just one thing recently though the clear cover covering the lens on the back of the phone has fogged over to I think a fungus? Anyway grand attempt.

I got this phone for £100 on ebay. This phone is great the screen is excellent and responsive and internet browsing is a joy. With a fast CPU and inbuilt flash it's everything I want in a phone. The only problems I found was that the battery quickly drained (about a day) and the internal memory was miserly at about 250Mb.This means you are quickly running out of space to put new apps. I managed to find a high capacity battery for this phone with 3000MAH so I could leave the internet etc on if I so wish and play games all day. I also rooted the phone and put Android 2.3 on it which gives me the option to save my apps directly to my SD Card. Would still recommend this phone to anyone.

A great toy but a very poor phone for any worker who doesn't operate within easy reach of a USB charger. Without realising I've found myself surrounded by chargers: 2 at home (one 'must have' by the bed for charging overnight), 1 in the car, 1 in my office, 1 in my workshop, 1 in my van, 1 for the laptop and several spare cables. If by some small miracle I manage to make it through the day without it going flat then I still have to cross my fingers and pray for a signal when I need to make a call because like all Smartphone's the antenna is crap. Should you try to use some of the features other than phone and texting then expect the battery life to drop even faster as the processor, wifi or GPS suck the life out of the battery. By the way I don't know if it is a fault with my phone but when using GPS with the Navigator app the phone pulls more power than can be supplied by the charger. It also gets very hot. When it is charged and does have a signal then it is a very impressive phone, very easy to setup and use, with some great features but unless your days are pretty routine and you know you are going to be in easy reach of a charger and are confident you will get a strong signal I would advise to avoid this and any other smartphone like the plague.

When composing a text it will randomly 'force application close ' and you lose the text. A lot of the time the touch screen freezes. Turning the phone off and on again is the only solution here. Also during a call you will be cut off at random and the phone won't let you ring the person back or them you. Again you have to turn the phone off and on again. Had my Desire since November 2010. Everything was great. I accepted before I received it that battery life wouldn't be amazing and that most of the functions, mainly the social app and internet side, would be of little to no use to me, but the plus points of a great looking phone, with brilliant picture quality, ability to take upto 32GB memory card and hook up with my Bluetooth head unit in my car for my music and work needs, made it a perfect choice for me. However, 4 weeks ago the screen went black as usual when it goes into standby mode, but it wouldn't reactivate when trying to turn the screen on to make a call. Several attempts later the battery was removed for a few seconds and replaced. After the boot up it worked normal again untill it went back into standby and I couldn't get the screen to activate again. Battery removed and replaced, working phone for rest of day. Next morning alarm didn't go off, luckily house phone rang and woke me up otherwise I would have been more than 2 hours late to work. Did the battery thing and it worked for a few hours, had to remove battery again. Went through this for two days, I tried resetting it, different sim card, different memory card, software update (2.3 still not available) and the same thing kept happening. Sent back to O2. Had it back in a week, something wrong with screen, but now fixed, guess again. Lasted 4 hours before screen went white and froze. Sent back to O2, this time I was given a replacement handset. Everything great for a week then while I was training the music player just stopped. Tried to exit and restart it, but it wouldn't respond. Removed battery and replaced, I'm now an expert at this. Worked 5 minutes before stopping again. Managed to get phone to work, but music player wouldn't. Then the phone started doing the same screen blackout as the other one. Awesome phone when working, really great phone, but totally killed me ever getting another HTC and advising others to get them as well. 5 stars when working, but

For starters the keyboard is unusable - don't take my word for it - experiment yourself with it in the shop. Also the general design features are a nightmare. The signal strength seems very weak - i get hardly any calls and people complain my phone is always off. Finally compared to the Iphone - the picture quality is not at all in the same league. Don't buy this - the iphone looks much better and I personally would prefer a blackberry.

Fantastic phone for apps, awesome on the internet and a brilliant camera, but absolutely useless for texting or calling. Glossy phone that's forgotten how to be a phone; stores texts, doesn't tell you they have failed to send and then resends texts when you turn it off; very annoying. Cuts calls, forgets contacts and sometimes freezes and doesnt let you answer. Fantastic phone for the 'wow' factor, but if you ever want to actually contact someone, better off with any other phone that's ever been invented. Seriously frustrating phone.

This phone is a disaster. Started off great. Then after a few weeks it would switch off if I used it whilst it was charging. After about 7 months, the phone would switch off and off repeatedly if using Google Navigation. The only way to rectify the problem would be to take the battery out. My HTC Desire was eventually returned to HTC who stated it was a hardware fault. Twice they promised it was fixed and twice that information was wrong. I have been waiting one month now and still it has not been returned. Google and Youtube searches show many many people with the same problem. I am now having to take legal action through Trading Standards as a breach of contract with my mobile operator. I am really disappointed with the attitude of HTC UK. Broken promises, no proper tracking to check your phone whilst it is in for repair and continuous broken promises of how long it will take to repair. I would not recommend The HTC Desire but if you do want one, I suggest you do not dispose of your old phone as you may need it when your HTC eventually breaks!

I've had a HTC Desire since August 2010 and have been happy with it apart from a couple of aspects. The first thing that lets it down is the volume even at maximum is far too low. The second (and this may be a problem with my individual phone) is that it freezes very regularly particularly when texting fairly quickly or browsing. It could be argued that it is the way i am using it causes it to do this but i use all phones the same and haven't had a problem with others. Other than this i am happy.

I had read reviews before making my choice of HTC Desire and some people mentioned they were not happy with battery life, but I am actually impressed, when just using it as a phone the battery lasts several days, If you are using apps and internet access all day you will probably need to charge it daily (but you wouldn't be able to use a laptop all day without charging it?) So I am happy. Usability is fabulous, took me a while to work it out but so far I wouldn't change a thing about this phone. Screen is great size, camera is pretty good. It is liberating having email on the go and telephone reception is really clear. I LOVE THIS PHONE. My colleagues who use blackberry's and iPhones are quite jealous....... as the HTC desire seems to have better usability and is much cheaper.

Vodafone are now sending me an HTC Wildfire which I hope I will have better luck with. For people who dont need the internet for long periods of time and dont spend hours on the phone they will find it a very good all round phone with great camera.

Just google the HTC Deisre Humidity... in addition no specification for the humidity (I've asked HTC UK and HTC RO they have no specs about the humidity range ) only OOW (Out Of Warrany)...If you like troubles and headache buy an HTC if you prefer a phone and not a PIECE of RUBBISH buy any other PDA. Negatives: Not enough memory is a MAJOR issue, means you have to choose the apps you like and delete anything you dont use, even with expandable memory the pitiful internal memory gets used up way too quickly! Only other issue for me is the flash is too bright and could do with a dimmer function (which is available in a flashlight app so the phone is capable of it) Would be 5 stars if not for the major memory issue!

I sold my iphone 3Gs 16gb(owned 1 year) to replace it with one of these as on paper they match each other and the desire beats the iphone on its 'extras'. Initially i loved it, the freedom android gives you and all the bells and whistles, and 2 day battery life compared to 1 on the iphone. But 4 weeks on id honestly grown to hate it, and now today i've sold it. The speaker is total rubbish, tinny and nothing else, texting using the htc onscreen keyboard was so terrible and is just like tapping on glass with no feel or precision(cue v/bad predicted text), the iphone with its capacitive screen has a 'cushiony feel somehow, same as their ipod touches etc, and blows the htc out the water for feel, precision when texting with fingers and feedback. And also on the htc the predicted text is a joke, iphone has a very good one(it seems to search around the letter it 'thinks' you've done incorrect and comes up with a SINGLE relevant word), 99% it is always spot on, this htc one, it doesn't search around the letter it thinks you've wrong, what it does is like scrabble, it comes up with a HANDFUL or MORE words which you can make out of the letters, and pre selects one if you don't notice you've spelt it wrong, which is all the time as you rarely type one word and check it before doing the next, and it always gets it totally wrong. So so annoying, this is the main reason i sold mine, and am treating myself to a new apple phone which is coming out later this year. Battery life is very good, if you switch on wifi and mobile internet when you need it you will easily get 2 days use, but more like 1 if you leave it on constantly. Making a shortcut to this saves so much time over the iphone's way-going through menus to turn on/off. Screen is nice and clear, but the htc screen wallpaper program stretches your picture across its 7(i think) screens so you have to scroll left and right just to see it all(it supersizes it), there are apps which fit it to the screen itself so when you scroll it stays the same. Quite scratch resistant tho very plasticy and cheap feel compared to other phones, good reception, awful music player, no way can it be classed as an mp3 player. Apps are as good as apples, generally whats on apple is on android(the useful ones anyway!), but there are alot of rubbish ones, that are constantly(daily!) updated because they're full of bugs. To sum up, the cons of the htc, 1.Texting is a horrible experience, bad predicted text, very inprecise touchscreen even after callibrating, 2.Speaker is so tinny its painful to listen to. 3.Back feels cheap and threatens to break every time you remove it, tho it doesn't. 4.Music player is very basic, fiddly, and is a very poor experience. 5.Can freeze on odd occasions and texting becomes slow/plays catchup sometimes(software bug???) 6.easy to have the optic scrollpad pick up your hand movement by mistake and leave you wondering why its changed screens, lol. 7.internet use feels basic and 'clumsy' compared to iphone(not biased, it is!)zoom in and it does so, then a second later it centres itself, by then you've already tapped on whatever you wanted to zoom in on in the first place, but because its centred that part to the screen now, you ended up accidently tapping on something totally different! VERY Annoying!!! 8.compared to the iphone, the things they can 'both do', the iphone does it much better and is a joy to use-texting, predicted text, accuracy when clicking on something, internet use, sound quality, ease of use in general etc, iphone beats it fair and square. But then there's alot the iphone fails at like bluetooth, not being allowed to set your own text alert sounds etc etc, simple things, that the htc does as standard. pro's of the htc desire 1. 2-day battery life. 2.screen size is crisp and vivid. 3.Replaceable battery/carry a spare(tho in reality i never even thought about buying another battery) 4. great camera, tho taking closeup pictures(within 2 ft) the flash totally whites out the object your photographing. 5.bright led can be used as a torch-very useful 6.can download various different keyboards if you don't like original, but many have their own niggly faults like they end up covering your text ur writing because they take up so much screen space! or are inaccurate, or fiddly to do '£' signs etc. 7.solid wifi connection and fast mobile internet. 8. can be used as a wifi hotspot(run other gadgets using the phones wifi signal to connect through) 9. £100 cheaper than iphone(but i would rather pay the extra and have the iphone at the end of the day) So thats my experience, i've had many phones, many different makes, and my opinion is that this phone is way over rated, and those who highly rate it(users and reviewers) generally have only had it a few days, ie 'honeymoon period'. Just like how i was when i first got it-felt a complete revelation to have so much freedom compared to the iphone 3Gs, but after a while i found that alot of those things this htc could do that i thought i wanted(replaceable battery, proper bluetooth, my own text alert etc) i rarely used, and the day to day experience with this phone left me wishing i had never sold my 3Gs. So thats my review, not biased, not made up, not like 'BEST FONE EVA' like some reviewers ;), just a normal user who likes his phone to do lots of stuff, but still be able to do the basic stuff too like texting or taking a snap of something or listening to a tune. Thanks for reading!

I bought an HTC Desire in summer '10 through Carphone Warehouse. It has caused me no end of frustration. It reboots itself at any time and gets stuck on the HTC logo and is unusable for a period of half an hour until it's cooled down. Carphone Warehouse have confirmed it's a phone fault but I have to give the phone to them and wait up to 2 weeks to get it repaired/returned. There were no repair phones available at all and, as this would leave me without a phone running my own company, it was not a viable option. I pay my bill to O2 for their network, and they were even less helpful. When HTC were contacted re using their courier service to get it repaired and save me more wasted journeys, they were also unable to provide me with a temporary replacement. I'm very disappointed, extremely dis-satisfied, and wouldn't trust another HTC as a result. I'm on a high tariff but am not getting the service I'd expect. Any suggestions anyone? It has the latest operating system and I tried a factory reset before I went back to Carphone Warehouse. It has the P/N 99HKZ009-00D - could this be a faulty batch? Thanks.

No one ever talks about the PC software to synchronise or control your mobile. HTC Sync is absolutely terrible! This makes the phone's usability greatly diminish. Although a great phone in many respects, the PC software is much worse then even old Nokia PC software from 6 or 7 years ago. Combine this with the inability to remove certain Apps and constant built in reminders that can't be changed or deleted and it makes what could be a fantastic phone into an almost unusable one. Sorry HTC, work harder on your interfacing and preference control!!

If you think you need a degree to work this phone, then you obviously need to stick with something with a black and white screen that just displays one row of characters. Sell your PC, 'cause you won't have a clue where to start with that either... in fact, your TV, Video, Hi-Fi, Microwave and Washing machine need to go too... *grins* I have had mine for 8 months and I've never had any problems with it. The HTC Desire is a superb phone, arguably the best smart phone on the market.. Easy to use, reliable, more than enough functions, apps and options to keep even the most hardened 'techie' entertained. The only 'bad' thing I can think of is the amount of space on the phone itself. When you're downloading a 25mb+ app, it's a bit of a task to shuffle your existing apps to make room for it - not all are transferrable to the SD card (however, more and more are getting this option as the devs build the option into their apps). Battery life could be better, however, it's a smart phone, and the battery does extremely well considering what I put it through on a daily basis. Trememdous phone, super-fast, crystal-clear display, great camera (although, if you want a decent camera, buy a camera *grins*)

Good points are excellent integration of social networking apps, the version I have has the SLCD not AMOLED display, however I feel it is actually a lot better as text is sharper. Camera is very good, comes with 720p support now with android 2.2 THE BAD, and it is VERY bad. You CANNOT hear videos played back at 44100k audio, in fact the volume issue is major. All video, especially using its default camcorder settings renders this phone as a medis player almost useless! Do HTC check their own products I ask? Not experienced poor audio through earphones, playing mp3, in fact it is very loud by comparison to video playback. Also, it has previously been stated that supplied earphones are 'a joke', to me they seem quite good. But the flaw is video, no point if you cannot hear a word even if you can record now at 720p. It is a major disappointment, I can honestly understand how they build this phone at this price point and make a profit. Lets compare, Orange San Francisco (AKA ZTE Blade), silly name great phone, £99 on payg has Android 2.1 , OLED display, actually better than I feel either of the HTC Desire screens, LOUD audio on videos looks similar to Desire too, costs a third of the price. I have one thankfully, so can compare. Feel the desire is just not worth the cash (OK it's only £250 on payg) but still prefer the San Francisco, sorry HTC feel I have been ripped off!

Well I became increasingly disappointed as the desire failed to work well at many things. Infact a lot proved to be worse than the wildfire to the point I sold it and kept the wildfire. If HTC spent that little bit more. Camera is rubbish. Quality is poor with poor colours, little defintion, lots of noise, poor focus at night. Wildfire one newer and superior with better colours although still only ok. Speaker is quite the worse I've ever heard! Could be great multimedia device but the speaker is almost unusable for speech and don't even think of playing music or ring tones loudly through it. Low maximum volume means in loud places can't be heard + Vibrate is so weak you can't feel it so I missed 13 calls and 2 messages!! Oh dear. Then there's the hopeless battery life that meant I needed 2 of them to last a weekend. Its bigger too. Its a good phone but not an iphone killer. The great screen and processor, range of apps, are let down by too many minor faults.
