I bought this blackberry a few months ago and im absolutely in love with it. Normally i keep a phone for a few months and buy a new one but i can see myself lasting a long time with it. The only problem i have found is if you set a password the buttons could easily go off in your pocket and call the emergency number without you knowing. That is the one tiny problem i have found. I loveee it!

This is the best fone I have ever had. I understand that some people may have had a few issues with it, and this is because nothing is perfect. They may have been the few unlucky to receive the few that had problems, but on the whole I know about 20 peeps that don't have problems with the phone whatsoever! Push email is a dream come true on this one. The only Problem I have had with it is when the facebook application starts crashing the phone, but that is completely down to the application not being fully compatible with the phone or something else and has nothing to do with the phone itself. I would recommend this fone to anyone who wants a high performance, robust fone that can do literally anything that a mobile device can do! PS: I have had it for about 4 months now with no problems.

Right well where do I start! I have had this phone since November 2009, I have recently only just got it back from being in for repair as the trackball stopped working for no reason I have had problems setting up my email and sometimes it doesn't work for no reason wot so eva. The internet is very slow but that is due to it not having 3g. The battery life is rubbish it last for 2 days only wot ever happened to the extended life battery rubbish. I could go on for ages but it would just bore u I would not tell anyone to get this phone I wished I had stuck with my W910i.

I have just made the transition from iPhone 3G 16GB to the BlackBerry Curve 8900. Instead of spending loads more money on the 3GS I decided to give the BB a go. Instead of slating the iPhone which is an awesome device, I will just say that that the key reasons for getting rid of it were lack of a hard button for the autofocus/camera, no flash, no local servicing for faults, no option for mass storage (SD), and the ultimate irritation for me, its absolute dependency on iTunes, I always hated that my phone was locked to that rubbish software. I never ever felt that I actually owned the iPhone regardless of how much cash I had paid for it. So then, my new BlackBerry Curve 8900. I got it new for 40% of the cost of a new 3GS! and I love it, I really do. I am not missing the touchscreen one tiny litte bit, having the full range of keys for typing in front of you at all times is great, I agree with all of the points in the review above, I am actually quite shocked to find that EDGE operates pretty quick whilst browsing and is not painful with download either, so lack of 3G is not the worst thing, lack of WIFI would have stopped me buying it for sure. The camera is good! it really is, I have taken night shots that came out well, the flash actually does help and is very bright for an LED. It also works well with the video function, wish it could be used as a flashlight like SE's can. The SD mass storage option is wicked, you've gotta love that whole drag and drop concept, transferring video, music and photos is just so simple. The doc viewer which I use a lot is very nice, it is provided by Dataviz and has a nice layout on screen for spreadsheets and word docs with editing facilities. I am also very happy to know that I can if I so desire to, buy replacement faceplates, battery covers, other language keypads and spare batteries. The memory card can be removed easily without powering down the phone, the sim card is easy to remove also but does require battery removal first. The phone is very pocketable and neat in your hand, one handed operation is simple and when you are finished simply depress the top mounted button to lock the screen down and slip it into your jeans pocket....nice! The screen although not massive is big enough to read easily, even with my need for reading glasses, and the display quality is stunning! and with the right HD wallpaper looks more beautiful than the iPhone, True! I have an HD image of a Ducati 999S as my wallpaper and it looks incredible. I honestly cannot think of how they could improve this phone, sure 3G would be nice but then it would rate as a perfect device! and that would be just too much to ask, wouldn't it? I have read negative comments about the GPS functionality on both BB maps and Google maps, well yes BB maps is always in sat search mode and is annoying, but after downloading Google maps on my device no such problems exist, it works fine. Of course no serious life risk navigation should be entrusted to this GPS device, just my opinion. I cannot cover every aspect of this phone here, but suffice to say I am one seriously fussy begger when it comes to smartphones/gadgets etc and I will nit pick at every little function finding fault wherever I can. So I am very pleased to report that this smartphone satisfies me in every way so far. I also have very high aesthetical standards and it satisfies me there too, good looking, functional, and most importantly, it does all the stuff I want it to do, and that is a tall order for me.

This is my first Blackberry phone which I have purchased and I must say it doesn't dissapoint. The ease of setup for emails, and the browser is great even though its not at 3g speed but that doesn't bother me 2g speed is quick enough. The opera browser I use works well and downloading and installing new content to the phone is a breeze. The Facebook application works wonders and so does the MSN messenger. All in all its like having a portable computer at your fingertips. Camera is great for taking pictures and works in dim light. Typing gets some used to using the qwerty keyboard but after a day or so you find your own typing style (thumbs or thumb and finger). I would highly recommend this phone to all and do believe that its the best smartphone on the market. Highly Recommended

Upgraded to this after being a Palm addict for years! It hasn't got a patch on the usability of the Palm but that's not a fault - just poor design! However, what's really depressing is I'm now on my 3rd phone in as many weeks - and now this one has stopped receiving texts! Across the 3 phones there's been various faults due to poor build quality (e.g.loose back cover, keys not working etc.) together with wi-fi problems and poor reception. The latter has been a factor on all the phones so it seems to be an inherent problem. My main use is as a PDA so things like the calendar and tasks are essential. This is where RIM could really take a leaf out of Palm's book! As a business tool the PIM applications are rubbish and the desktop client is woefully inadequate. As it happens I've found a 3rd party application (PocketInformant) which is a vast improvement, but on a new phone this shouldn't be necessary. Overall I'm really disappointed having expected so much better. I r eally can't recommend this phone, especially for business use.

I bought Blackberry 8900 2 weeks before (Saudi). It looks good but I think function wise Nokia is better .I am not able to download fring on Blackberry .My friends can download fring to their Nokia & do cheap international calls & even can do video mobile calls from their Nokia via skipe (Which support only iphone& Nokia)to other parts of the world & I feel really trapped. I would not have purchased Blackberry . Blackberry should have a web site to help beginers like me to know ,what all sites/programs I can down load & what all facilites I can awail from blackberry. Now my friends laugh at me for buying Blackberry & it is like having no use except e-mail recieving & more internet charges for special blackberry services. If anyone know whether I can download fring program to my blackberry so that I can make very very cheap international calls & video moble calls ,please let me know .mathewjoji@hotmail.com

I have had 5 8900's in less than a year! Less than six months! Freezing, slower than normal downloads with a full signal, trackball issues, and the worst of them all... I can't get incoming calls anywhere in the US! I live in the US! My carrier nor blackberry support can fix the problem and I don't want the replacement that's a complete down grade. Some my love it. I love the camera and quality of the screen and other related stuff but that's it! Oh and the physical feel. Try at your own risk!!!!!!!!!! Seriously.

i have had my 8900 since feb 2009 and have found it to be excellent. Dont let the lack of 3G put you off, on a day-to-day basis this isnt as big a drawback as you would think. the menus are easy to use and the camera is an excellent stop-gap when your digital camera runs out of battery or you forget it! personally i like the trackball, and find it compliments the menus perfectly. the email function is excellent, and often i recieve the emails slightly before or at the same time as my desktop. i have found it to be reliable too, i normally dont have a phone longer than 1-2 months before i have managed to break it but i have had mine almost 10 months and its still going strong! for me, its been as close to perfect as is possible with a phone!

In a word, boring. It does what it's designed to do i.e. push e-mail, open attachments, etc but in this day and age with all singing, all dancing phones it just seems very out of date. RIM seem dedicated to the task of sticking with the same features they've been putting on their phones for 5 years now. They need to get a little creative.

There are enough reasons on here why this phone is great, so let me explain my history so those in similar situation may make better judgement. I have been a HTC WM user for many many years, mainly for the complete integration with outlook. Occasionally trying alternate OS, but always going back to WM as they always failed in synchronisation somewhere. Finally after a frustrating 12 months with the Diamond, I had had enough so tried out the BB 8900 and Iphone 3GS. Both great, both sync wonderfully well with outlook, but without doubt the BB is finally the phone I have always been looking for. It is quite simply, practical for all my day to day requirements.

I've had this phone for a day now and already love it! The phone is bigger than the average phone, but boasts a full qwerty keyboard which is small enough to not make the phone too bulky, but large enough to easily send texts and email. The trackball is good and easy to use, however that is my personal preference, I have seen a LOT of negative comments regarding this so I would ask to try it out before hand if you are considering purchasing one. The screen is quite large, and is very vibrant which makes navigating through the many menus a pleasure rather than a chore. There are a lot of menus and sub menus on the phone. However, the menu can be moved around and is very versatile. Folders can be hidden at the click of a button or moved to inside other folders. One of the main reasons I bought the phone was internet. I got a good deal on it because Vodafone messed their computers up and got the prices wrong. Therefore, I got a FREE phone (It should have been £15) for £25 a month with 300 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet. In the main part, the internet is good. Most top websites have mobile pages which fit well onto the screen, it's easy to navigate through the pages especially with the shortcuts on the keyboard. However, it does not have 3G. This means that internet on the move is quite slow. It does have Wi-Fi, but 3G is missed here. The other reason I got the phone is for texting and I have not been dissapointed! Texting is easy, a mile easier than texting on the iPhone. It saves texts sent and received from a contact in a conversation type format, and although it's a simple, black text on a white background, it is a nice little feature. There is also BlackBerry App World which isn't as big and varied as iTunes but still has some useful apps. Maps and GPS are useful, albeit quite slow when on the move without 3G. Camera is good and has flash, as does the video player. In summary, I am very pleased with this phone and can see me using it, and enjoying it, for the remainder of my 24 month contract. I feel that I have got a great deal here and would be happy pay £30 a month or pay £150 for the handset and still feel I was getting value. I highly reccomend this phone if you are into texting or emailing, wanting to keep in touch with friends via social networking sites such as FaceBook or Twitter or IM with BlackBerry Messenger, Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Instant Messenger.

Hi I've had mine a week and whilst I agree with most of the above I'm afraid I dont agree with all of the gushing praise. I already have the curve and expected the 8900 to be an much better upgrade. Sure it looks good and is feature packed but the music sound is extremely tinny compared with the old curve and the battery flattenes within a day. I may of course have a faulty one and I do intend to return it to find out, but if it's not I am ditching it and will give the old bold a go.
