Reviewed by Lottie on 26/10/2011 I had my BlackBerry Curve for a month until it decided not to turn on any more. This lead to endless phone calls to my phone company and them having to send me a replacement phone. I also know of other people that have had the same phone and had it freeze and pack up before a year. I would of expected a higher level of performance from such a profound company. This model has truly let it down! Rating:
Reviewed by beckyy on 25/10/2011 i wouldnt recommend this phone to anybody! its the worst phone i have ever bought! the problems dont end with it. first, my blackberry had a problem and kept draining the battery so i had to spend alot of money getting it replaced. the second problem is that is used to freeze alot and i had to keep doing battery pulls. another problem was that the trackpad wouldnt work at all! now the keyboard doesnt work and the trackpad. if you want a decent phone, get something a little bit more popular and with a make that alot of people know of, samsung, nokia, sony etc. i have to deal with this phone right up until march 2012 now because the warranty is finished and the contract expires then. Rating:
Reviewed by KK on 24/10/2011 My beloved BB was stolen and work gave me the 8520 as a replacement. I'm not convinced by the feel of the keyboard and prefered the trackball of the previous incarnation, although that may still be a matter of familiarity. Most of the features I used are thankfully unchanged and work as well as you would expect, but the camera is terrible. Lots of lens distortion and NO FLASH! My previous BB took pretty decent pictures, so they can do it if they want. Rating:

Reviewed by josh on 19/10/2011 Good mobile my first smartphone and it didn't take long for me to come to grips with.can be a little unclear and can take a while to load sometimes but overall is a really good mobile that I you can use for eveyday life. I personally don't use the blackberry app world device as I don't play games a lot (apart from brickbreaker which is really neat!!!) I mostly talk or message my friends and share music, photos and videos! The camera is a little disappointing but is still easily good at taking recognisable pictures and videos and what good sound quality!!! My favourite App is the cool BBM app.I like sharing with friends and this allows me to do just that! What a laugh! Oh! And facebook! Wonderful facebook! Which is free to download from the web browser pre-installed on the phone! I am writing the review with this phone right now and as you can see I am finding it easy to use. I would also like to tell you that it has loads of flash memory too! Good for taking pics! An d the kind Blackberry folk have even given us a 2gb sd card to come with it! Overall an excellent phone that is only let down by its loading time but is recommended to adults and teens alike as it can be complex! So I give it 4 stars best:ability to share so much! Worst :time to load sometimes Rating:

Reviewed by Annette on 06/10/2011 I wouldn't recommend a Bold 8520 to anyone, I have had my Bold since February through Phones 4 U, having finally sorted out my contract with them, numerous phone calls as they were charging me a lot more than had been agreed, my phone developed a fault with the sound, I contacted Phones 4 U, they sent me a pre paid envelope to send my phone back to their repair centre, I returned the phone in its original box, wrapped carefully in bubble wrap. After 3 days I received a telephone call from the repair centre to say my phone could not be repaired under the guarantee as the problem was related to liquid or moisture damage and isn't a manufacturing defect, the phone was being returned to me un repaired, I could take it to Car Phone Warehouse and they could possibly give me a quote for repair, well I have received the phone back in a polythene bag wrapped in a bit on bubble wrap minus the original box, what am I to do now. As far as I'm concerned the phone hasn't been d ropped or soaked in liquid, I'm 50 years of age for goodness sake and look after my possessions with greatest care. I have 15 months left on the contract at £25.00 per month but no phone. Don't touch Phones 4 U or Blackberry with a barge pole, I certainly wont and intend to take this further. Rating:

Those who are intrested to buy this phone, you all must really try it. You will never know if you don't try it. Reviewed by Mr Adams on 20/09/2011 I am in the process of buying myself a new phone... And i have had a look thru a whole range of phones... i had considered the 8520 when i started my search, but could not come up with a good enough reason why it cost so much (for an entry level phone) when you could get a mid class phone (sony ericsson x 8, x10 mini, x10 mini pro, etc) packed with way more and running the more favoured android OS... only until this past weekend when my GF had gone and bought herself the black berry 8520 that i realised, the 8520 may cost more than the others and have less but it does the little it has better than any other... ( i hope i got that across alright). i agree with a earlier post, if you are realy interested in taking picture's go and get you a high end camera, if the screen aint detailed enough then i would advise you get a a high end tv... back to the weekend, i found myself on her phone... and with the BIS i think this phone is a good deal... and i am on my way to buyi ng myself one... i think a good deal, does everything your phone should be able to do and does it well... 5 stars bb Rating:

Reviewed by holly uk on 06/09/2011 I've had the blackberry curve 8520 for about a year now and it's really good. It's great for talking to friends and sharing things on facebook. Also you can get so many apps that cost and don't cost that are all really good. You can change the font size easy by going to screen/keyboard and there are a range of different fonts. Although there are good points to this phone, there are also some quite bad ones. The first is that it freezes a lot and you have to restart the phone which takes about 3-4 mins. I have to charge it every night, although that's because I use blackberry messenging and facebook alot. But all in all not a bad phone, quite good for the money. Rating:

Reviewed by Rachel on 05/09/2011 definately not. my phone wont reboot, the screen goes completely white so i cant turn it on! ive had the phone for exactly a year (and a few days maybe) and ive had problems from the start. Orange gave me a new phone after a few weeks after i had experienced problems calling. The phone froze a lot and would always call 911 randomly (thank god it doesnt work to call 911 from england). It also kept rebooting randomly as well. I am so glad to get rid of this phone but the ease of using a Blackberry has convinced me to get a new one of a newer model. As i dont like touch screens, its perfect for me but a lot of hassle! Rating:

Reviewed by Diana on 18/08/2011 I've had this phone about a year and a half now and although I have much love for it because it's my phone and it is the best I've ever had, it is now going crazy! the trackball gets stuck not to say the trackpad, some letters randomly decide not to work, sometimes I don't even touch the letters and they just press by themselves, it's like they have a mind of its own. It's got a very good memory, it's a shame though that for such a smart phone it doesn't have flash camera, I remember I paid £145 at the time for mine, when it first came out. The keys are very hard and make such an annoying noise, where as the 8900 has a softer rubber trackpad. Those are just some of the things that are wrong with it. Now I see myself in the position of having to get a new phone but I can't afford one. I love blackberrys and I'd like to say my next buy will be a bold or a torch but I'm probably gonna get something safer like the new motorola that's shock/water proof and has a long lasting battery, or an HTC. I don't know but this phone has been a letdown. Rating:
Reviewed by Nia Campbell on 18/08/2011 I just received the blackberry curve 8520 for my birthday and i have to say, I absolutely adore everything about it. OK so it may not be a sleek HTC or iPhone but it is easy to use, has a fun and stylish qwerty keypad and is the perfect size to fit into my pocket. I also love the fact that there are so many different covers and cases available in many different styles. Most of my friends also have a BlackBerry so I use BBM frequently. I have had many other smart phones but the BlackBerry is by far my favorite because I don't like touch screen mobiles, it is easy to use, the messaging features are easily accessible and you can personalize it so easily. If you want covers for your BlackBerry there are thousands on ebay for between 50p-£8 including Ed Hardy, DC and many more designer brands. Enjoy your BlackBerry! Rating:

Loading and refreshing of apps is slow as well as browsing the internet. It does have its good points like the QWERTY keyboard makes texting much faster and easier. Its a good budget blackberry but after a while of owning it you can definitly see its a BUDGET phone and then the feeling of needing to replace it kicks in. Rating:

The screen is constantly pixelated or low resolution and my phone is always removing WiFi profiles and deleting songs, contacts and messages. Reviewed by Will on 25/07/2011 I've had this phone for about a year now, and it has finally died on me. It started getting a bit temperamental a few months ago, when the a-key started playing up... First it would just continuously type 'a', when you pressed any key (making the phone unusable, then, to my relief, it just stopped working altogether. So I had to copy and paste 'a' into any messages. Annoying. Then the trackpad and phone/menu buttons started becoming occasionally unresponsive. I did a phone-wipe and reset, which seemed to solve the problem, leading me to believe it was a software problem. But now, a few weeks later, it has just stopped working altogether. To give you some background, I haven't particularly abused the phone, but i haven't been overly careful. I'm a university student, so it has been used a fair bit, but I've never gotten it wet, or dropped it from any spectacular height. My recommendation would be to either take out insurance, or invest in the slightly more expensive blackberry. Rating:

Reviewed by Emilyy on 23/07/2011 I love my blackberry curve, and what you said about it not having 3G... Mine does... and i got it after my very slow pearl 8110, and i have to admit, BBM is ALWAYS going wrong, and it doesnt work well with virgin sims but other than that its perfect!!! Rating:
Reviewed by melaanie delight on 23/07/2011 ive nearly had my phone for a year now && i must say at the start it was realy enjoyable and i LOVED it. But i have to admit after about 4 months that love has wore off, the camera has completely stopped working (same with the video camera) and the actual phone sometimes has a mind of its own also it takes for EVER to come on when you restart the phone by taking the battery out and putting it back in... i have to say the only reason i still like it is for the blackberry messanger and the keyboard thats the only reason im not sure to have another phone as i like those two feature so much .... ;// Rating:
Reviewed by Nathan Bowes on 22/07/2011 My Blackberry Curve 8520 is being stupid, i am on orange pay as you go and the internet is saying there is no communication service when i try to use the internet and bbm works briefly for like 10 minutes then i have to pull out the battery and reset the phone, then it works again for 10 minutes, can you tell me whether this is the phone thats broken? or the network sim is faulty? because i have read lots of complaints about blackberrys on orange recently? Reviewed by David Kay on 21/07/2011 The 8520 setup seems only to offer connection to an 'enterprise server' and the help offered by the Blackberry site in this regard is hopeless. I want to connect to a Demon email server but a menu option for this is not given with no supporting information/explanation. Also I can find no way or instructions on synchronising diary and contacts data so overall a very poor purchase, I could not recommend this phone to any business user. Rating:
Reviewed by Paul on 21/07/2011 Absolute rubbish, was working perfectly now won't send or receive sms messages. Tried various fixes and the issue still persists. Not worth 10p, I wish I'd bought a sony or nokia mobile now! Rating:
Reviewed by Anna on 19/07/2011 Not happy with the phone at all. Bat life + camera = horrible It takes a few minutes just to start up, so delayed and freezes for no reason. You have to pay every month just to use the BB service, it is nothing but a waste of money. Made a mistake by purchasing the phone. Rating:

Reviewed by Paul on 12/07/2011 Had this phone about a month, got it as a birthday present. Did previously have a 8900 but got so annoyed with the trackball, decided to move on! AM so impressed with the 8520 in every way. The screen is not as poor as some say...it does not feel cheap...the keyboard is fantastic...and the camera takes a decent picture. The music controls make it a great media playing tool too. This phone is great. This phone meets all my needs...email, texting, BBM, ebay, facebook, twitter, calls, it does it all without the horrible apple branding and sheep mentality of iphone users! WE CAN DO IT ALL TOO! Make no mistake, this phone is not as flashy as a bold or torch, but it is a Blackberry, feels like a Blackberry, and does everything any other Blackberry can do that gives BB's their epic reputation. Well done RIM. Rating:

Reviewed by Dan Speed on 08/07/2011 This phone is pretty sweet but things on it could have improved, i have to admit the phone was one of the best i ever had but i had to get rid of it 2 weeks ago because of broken qwerty pad, overall i think everyone who can afford the cheaper than usuall price should definatly puschase this phone and use the cool features such as BBM and fast texting and internet browsing.
