Don't listen to the bad reviews. This phone is one of the best things that ever happened to me. It isn't a 5 star phone because of the lack of 3G, but a definitive 4 star rating from me. The people who say it's bad are mostly Apple haters who know this is better than their phones. The only honest bad reviews might be here because the phone lacks some "basic" features, which certain people really need in a phone. But, most of these lacking features can be replaced by apps. A lot of people are complaining about no bluetooth, but I have an app called iBluetooth that fixes that right away. The appstore is actually where the iPhone shines the most, and one of the main reasons I love the phone. The camera is a 2MP which sounds mediocre, but I swear it's better than most phone cameras which claim to have a 5MP camera (Prada2 for example).

Major flaws make it a waste of money, there's other phones out there that do much better. To view a received picture message you need to log into a website and then type in a code that was attached to the message noticifaction - you can't even selectively cut and paste the code, iphone highlitghts whole message. You cana't bluetooth anything even thought it has an active bluetooth cjip - Apple have likely done this deliberately to prevent file sharing and to encourage you to go into itunes store and pay for anything you want.d 3rd party apps are restricted in what they can do so only apples own calendar can run in background and generate reminders

Well it's a great looking phone with thousands of great applications, but the real problem is the hardware. So much goodness packed into a small box. The problems with overheating are probably a bit overstated, but you wouldn't want one to set fire to it self in your pocket. The other known problems about it are many, but the real problem is getting it fixed or exchanged. I committed to spend over £900 on an Iphone, but did you know you can't just go into apple and get a new one even if the old one has an obvious physical problem. Mine has stopped vibrating, as well as loosing the network, I've just been told they won't replace it today, they have run out of Iphone appointments. So I'm sitting here after having to argue very strongly to be seen at all waiting for a standby appointment, It ironic really because the place is full of red tee shirted apple staff with very little to do. So buy your phone experience from Apple but don't expect to get much in the way of service if it all goes wrong.

It was the best of times ... it was the worst of times. Or should I say the iPhone is fantastic and at the same time frustrating! I've had the 3G and the 3GS, sold both and bought an iPod Touch 3G instead. I'm not an Apple fan but I forgive Apple for not including MMS from the start (though it works well now), I also forgive them for not including bluetooth file sharing, or allowing direct access to the file system, and I definitely forgive them for making the phone such a multi-roled device so much so that you end up flattening the battery after 3 or 4 hours tops. What makes the iphone great? An unbeatable, usually intuitive, stable, user interface, and App Store! There really is just about any app you can think of from usual ones like Faceboook, Ebay, etc, to the more offbeat graphing calculators (very handy for my degree), full featured Astronomy apps, IT network testing apps, and games. So many cheap (Need for Speed for £2.99!), good and different games I never use my PSP any more! And choosing and downloading Apps, Videos and Music is all seamlessly integrated into the UI - it makes going to a PC, looking for somthing, downloading it and uploading it to your phone seem positively stone age! Plus also most apps update for free to give extra features (e.g. the Facebook and Ebay Apps has really evolved a lot) So why have I sold my iphones? As a phone it's actually only mediocre (my N95 is a better pure phone, has a better camera, and hangs onto a signal better, and is more robust) and the great tech in this device drains the battery very quickly (don't blame Apple necessarily, battery tech really can't keep up with what these smart devices can do). But my wife still loves both her iphones! Instead I decided all that money invested was better used elsewhere and got an iPod 3G (which technically has slightly later hardware under the hood than even the 3GS) which is still blindly fast (light years faster than the iPhone 3G was, and a tiny bit faster than the 3GS) and use a well known hotspot app on the N95 I already owned to get data when I'm out and about. Voila 90% of an iphone for £230 (£330 if you gotta buy an N95 off a popular acution site). And if you accidently break it then it's not as many mega bucks and loss of phone functionality for however long it takes to get it replaced. And hopefully the 4G (or whatever) will be another revolution worth trading the iPod in for (batter camera plz! Nokia like phone handing plz! better battery life plz! access to the file system to backup game saves to different devices plz! HD video output to a TV for movies plz! 128 GByte storage (I wish)!) Overall, I'd give the 3GS phone which is pretty much state of the art with current tech 4.5 *, but urge those unsure to get the 32GB Touch 3G first to see what they're missing!

I have had many phones over the years and the iPhone was my first touch interface mobile and it has been the worst phone I have owned. My dad got me the iPhone on contract from 02 last week and it broke within 5 days, he was paying £35 a month for a 2 year contract and it would be £899 full price which is disgusting since the phone is worth £699 without contract (basically 02 was robbing my dad of an extra £200) When I first got it, I was excited, well until I started using it, the phone wouldn't send texts, make phone calls and I couldn't hear who ever I was calling or the phone just made constant crackling noises and cut out in middle of calls WHEN I did get through after about 5 attempts. The phone constantly froze and took at least an hour to reset that's how much it crashed. I have used many apple products and never had any problems until now, and I own one of their ipod touches and the ipod works 100% better and even faster than the phone does. I feel this phone was quickly put together to make more money and wasn't fully thought through and now apple are suffering the consequences. And never get ANY phone on contract on 02, because they rip you off and refuse to let you pick another phone.

Then I lost everything off my phone including pictures of my new born- as I didn't have time to back the pictures up. It would freeze all the time and I don't even have that much on it. It wouldn't play music from it some times and half way through a song it would just turn off. The battery is pretty bad too- come on I'm a mum who hardly uses my phone and it needs charging every day! I thought the phone was great at first but now I just figure the more technical we get the more there is to go wrong- I'm going back to my old phone!

I wonder why British people hate iPhone? Just because it’s from Apple? No, I love iPhone, because it delivers excellent features!!! So please consider both the brilliant features and lacking features when giving a review! I have experienced iPhone for a month. I always read reviews from this site, I haven’t seen this site been biased at any time, but some people have complained the administrator. I have summarized some advanced features of iPhone; 1)Touch screen: most sensitive, the one and only multi-touch phone so far produced and user interface is as simple as it can be. 2)Configuration: 128MB RAM, 8GB Hard, 400 MHz CPU frequency, 16 million colour display, 3.5” LCD wide screen (480X320), and operating system OS X makes iPhone fast, fun (simply amazing) and enough for anything to run in a phone 3)Brilliant Key board: it’s not just a key board when you need; it’s the key board that you need (different key boards for different situatio n). Initial letter is automatically Capitalized if you type a name, abbreviations are in capital letters, spelling is always correct: by mistake if you typed “yii” it will be changed to “you” when you press the space key. Many more… 4)Internet: it’s better than your computer. Double click to zoom, Safari zooms anything to best fit, it’s amazing, Safari knows tables, column, pictures, text fields etc… 5)iPod: cover flow, wide screen for video, start from where you stopped (touch a video icon, each video starts from where you stopped earlier, “Play now” to start music from where you stopped) 6)Supports: Send and receive emails with attachments, Google maps, YouTube, PDF, addition fonts, IM Chat program, games, Wi-Fi, EDGE, Bluetooth 7)Installer: there is a program called “installer” for iPhone, everyone will love the iPhone when you get the installer. Open the installer, you will see hundreds of FREE progr ams for iPhone in category view (3rd party programs too), install what ever you like and when ever you want. 8)Customize: arrange and/or hide icon, change theme customize system messages like “UNLOCK” instead of “slide to unlock” – just do anything (everyday the phone looks NEW). Install an iPhone browser or an iPhone viewer to your PC (FREE) so that you can customize iPhone ringtones, its not a must that you have to buy ringtone from apple, you can make it using these programs and save/view PDF files/Word documents on your iPhone and install fonts. Default is set to preview SMS on screen even phone is locked, many people hate this. Switch Off/On SMS preview is available. All Nokia phones have security features Phone lock code, pass-code lock or key board lock with security code as in iPhone, but not in all 5 stars smart phones! Same like iPhone not a single Nokia phone is ranked with 5 stars, but many Sonyericsson phones without security featur e are ranked just because of camera or what... Oh! The interest of UK people is different! But I have not seen people taking pictures with highest pixels of their camera, because either they can’t zoom in or phone is slow/can’t preview them, or 2MP is enough (you can print to as large as A4 size images with 2MP). So what’s the use of 3.2MP or 5MP cameras without optical zoom or other great features? I meant Megapixels is not everything!!! iPhone is behind all the other smart phones in many ways! 1)SMS: You have to type the message every time you need to send, you cant resend, Forward, Send to All, send to a Group, save in Draft, SMS texts from note book or copy paste anything, these features are there nearly in all smart phones. 2)File transfer: the only way is emailing; no Bluetooth, no infra, no MMS, you can’t even use memory cards to transfer files. 3)Camera: very poor camera, just 2MP, nothing else, can’t zoom 4)No 3G, “mark” or “select” feature is not available, can’t delete or email selected files, do it one by one… I appreciate the incredible features of iPhone and hope they will do a much better job next time! "Buyers should buy the phone only if they like the phone, we have enough choice I hope!"

My silent switch broke after 4 days of ownership....this phone is far to fragile to be considered a mobile phone ---you might as well call it a rubbish laptop, as it does lots of things that laptops do and nothing that other good phones do - ie. no video. Really is a poor product if you live a busy and energetic life...get a blackberry curve, i did. it really is so much better. don't get sucked into apple do things so much better....style over substance has never been so apparent. a poncey product. Some mind find this really hard to believe, but I have only negative comment about this phone; its obvious size. Otherwise its an amazing phone. I've owned a wide range of phones including your average Sony Ericson Camera phone, your Windows based Smart phone, to the LG Viewty. Compared to them all, the iphone outshines them all. My main reason for getting one, was simply to have an ipod and a phone in one. I don't like carrying two items around when I can have one.I got mine on pay-as-you-go, and while it was expensive, it was worth the cost for what you get and the contract offers suck! The iPod bit is nothing new and works just as great as any other iPod Apple have released. The Internet browsing (with WiFi) is great. Despite what others may have said it is really easy to use, read and navigate. Something which is primarily down to the screen size and very responsive touch screen. Its the best internet browsing phone ive ever used!! The texting may take getting used to, but the QWERTY layout is remarkably easy to use and offers VERY good auto-correction on words. It can predict and correct words, despite them being spelt completely wrong (Its not perfect mind). The camera is no where near as awful as many have made it out to be. I had a Sony Ericson and an LG Viewty before this, which both took much high resolution images and to be honest... I cant say I miss it that much. My one concern was when changing was the photo quality... and it hasnt bothered me at all. At the end of the day, the photos are still good. Unless you are a budding photographer who needs high res images, the ipod will do for taking photos. The battery life is also not an issue. I personally don't sit there and use my phone 24/7 like some people, and I charge it up every day or two over night. I've NOT ONCE had it run out on me. The only time it has run down is if I have played a game for an hour or two. Otherwise ive found the battery is fine if you are just browsing the net quickly, texting and listening to music. Note that you can charge it up while connectd to any PC, so you could carry a USB connection around and charge it up at work or university if need be. In terms of using this as a smart phone (i.e a small PC) I have no issues. It allows me to write notes, set calender dates and alike. I can also very easily read my email and use online chat programmes like MSN or AOL using one of the many downloadable applications which are both free or pay-to-dl. As I said above, there is one small issue and that is its size. It isnt the most descrete phone to use in public and you may wish to stand away from crowds (unless you want to show off) incase it gets nicked. I also personally have mine wrapped up inside a SwitchEasy Colours rubber case to protect it and it is still in perfect condition. Im not the kind of person bought this phone to show off. It was purely about functionality and making my life easier and its done that. If you don't mind the rediculious cost the phone or taking up a rubbish contract deal with O2, then I would recommend this phone or waiting until the new model is released. It IS a good phone and with the soon to be released update, it will just get better with MMS texting and paste and copy. I would how ever recommend this more for people with a little computer know how, as your Gran or your mother might find it hard to use.

The iPhone is a great piece of technology but Apple have definitely catered for those more interested in it's internet/mail/ipod features rather than those wanting a mobile phone with extras - ipod, PC then phone in that order. The 3G internet facility is reliable and fast enough to surf the web in most areas, as is the mail feature which is easy to set up and great to pick up your emails when on the move. The ipod section is as good as it's always been, easy to use and with the 16gb version theres plenty of space to fit all your music and films on. For me the inclusion of Apps such as Skype, Facebook and Myspace mean I spend far less time cranking up my desktop. All sounds great and to an extent it is...but call me old fashioned I miss some of the simple features that Apple shouldn't have overlooked - the inability to forward text messages, no way of creating a contact group, no sending/receiving of ringtones/pics etc via bluetooth, no video feature....all abse nt from the iPhone. Really hope Apple release software soon to patch up these important features.

I bought my iPhone last October. It looks really good, is excellent for music and has some great features. It's phone feature, however, is not one of them. I've encountered the following problems: (1) Screen freezes: these usually occur in phone mode. Sometimes the screen blacks out and sometimes it becomes white. You can do nothing but wait to reset it when you get home to connect to your computer...i.e. you'll have no mobile phone to use until you get homem, which can be a pain. This ha happened to me a half-dozen times over the past few months...which I think is very poor (2) Texting is really a pain: no matter how small your fingers, you are likely to find that you mistype with remarkable and irritating frequency. Texting using the iPhone's touch screen is nothing like on a regular mobile phone where it is relatively easy; (3) Accidental dialing: I've lost count of the times I have unintentionally dialled people. You must always return your iPhone to its d esktop screen otherwise, while holding it or putting it into your bag or pocket, you'll invariably dial someone by accident. I've probaly dialled people 50 or 60 times this way. One of my oddest experiences, however, was speaking with one person on the iPhone and suddenly finding that someone else was on the line: it seems that in the course of one call, as the screen was touching my face, it ended that call, returned to my phone book and dialled someone else!!! How bad is that?!? Hopefully these problems will be ironed out in the next generation of iPhones but for me, my iPhone is more trouble to me than it's worth and I rather regret buying it.

I do not have the iPhone but my cousin does. Over Christmas he let me see it. I loved the look and feel of it - but was worried. I mean, a phone that is expensive and the slightest drop might break it? I'm afraid this isn't so good. I would HATE a phone that I was scared to be around!!! On the other hand some of the games he had downloaded for it, my favourite being Topple, were absolutely FANTASTIC! And my dad wants an iPhone but... after reading some of these reviews I think I will barricade him into the house to stop him buying one, he currently has a Nokia N95 and is on an 18 month O2 contract and is hoping by the time his phone is upgraded the iPhone will be on the list! I did happen to notice my cousins iPhone's screen froze a bit but if you love to look good, an iPhone is currently the height of fashion (apparently!) x

The iphone is well over rated. Simple things like the inability to forward txt messages to friends is a major oversite. I have had several problems with mine including the screen going blank when making calls and then having no idea how to end the call. Biggest mistake getting this phone and after contract I will be replacing it. The other downside is the hype to it. Teenage daughter is desperate for one as she thinks there "cool". Tried to explain the are not and if used as an ipod as well as a phone the battery is about as much use as tits on a fish, but they think they know better. Poor phone, which is what it is with extras and certainly will need some good updates to correct basic errors for me to keep it.

Sorry but the iphone is seriously flawed. I am so disappointed. Major problems include lack of battery power - you don't even get 20 hours from a full charge - and only making a few phone calls never mind using anything else. There is a serious problem with network connectivity: I have not received at least 5 texts which I know have been sent to me over the last week by different people. Voicemails similarly have never arrived. Sometimes there has even been no 'missed calls' notification despite people telling me they have called. Texts, when they do arrive are often several days late, out of the order they have been sent in, and there is no date or time stamp to tell you anything of their origins. The phone often puts itself to sleep, the ring tone often doesn't ring even when I can see that a call is being received. the phone flips too easily into silent mode because there is nothing to protect the button. If you seriously need to be in contact with work, friends and family then don't rely on this version of the iphone, because I have been seriously compromised by the inability to be contacted when people need to speak to me. These are just some of the faults I have experienced - I could write another paragraph on the minor annoying things that don't work as intended. In my opinion the phone doesn't even perform well as just a basic phone, hence the 1 star rating. I have friends who have other O2 phones and they don't have the same problems therefore I can only conclude that the phone is at fault, not the network. Limitations have been listed by others and there's no point in repeating them here, and to be fair you should be well aware when buying the phone that there is no picture messaging, camera flash or zoom, etc so can't really quibble however perhaps Apple should concentrate on getting the basics right before they add in all the fancy bits. I would not recommend this phone at all and until both bugs and major design flaws are corrected I remain seriously disappointed, intermittently contactable and embarrassed that I appear to be ignoring calls, texts and voicemails.

Hi All, Having used the iPhone for a few days, I honestly feel that it is not quite worth the hype that it has created. In 3 weeks of use, here is what I found: 1. Cannot handle numbers stored on SIM... one has to compulsorily download all SIM numbers onto the phone. 2. Does not have capability to copy contacts on phone to SIM. 3. Cannot forward SMS. 3a. Links SMS's related to a given sender into one long discussion chain even though the discussions are not related. Gmail does a better job. 3b. Typing international format SMS while roaming not easy to accomplish & you don't know the format in which it was sent. (one needs to use this to understand clearly) 4. Typing multiple numbers onto SMS recipient list is very very difficult. Relies heavily on numbers stored in contact list. 5. Name and number view in contact list absent 6. Cannot edit stored WiFi station list stored on phone. 7. No ringing profiles. There is the 'Normal' or 'Silent' which are also difficult to access. 8. Typing SMS is very cumbersome. SMS shorthand not supported. You have to use the auto correct facility which means typing longer sentences and sending longer SMS's. Not suitable for sending cost-effective SMS's. 9. Single hand typing / phone usage not possible. Both hands are needed to access capabilities. Conclusion: It lacks even the basic functions available in an entry level Nokia (e.g Nokia 2600). To its credit, the iPhone has set new standards in a hand held device for web browsing and touch screen applications. If you are looking for a phone, don't get an iPhone.

OK, most people either fall into the love it or hate it camp. But looking at it objectively I have to say it is a nice phone for casual users - people who like to take the occasional picture or need a terrific MP3 player. The quality of the phone is great and the design and interface are terrific. On the downside the internet is slow and the camera - whilst decent enough - pales in comparison to other models on the market. It is not a smartphone! On the otherhand the integration of iPod, casual camera, and phone is fantastic and I absolutely love it despite it's flaws. It is expensive though. I got mine for free so cost isn't an issue, but I don't think I would buy because it really is quite expensive!!

The camera is a joke - and you cant send and receive data or music files. You cant save texts or edit them (ie delete some from the conversation), you cant send your contacts, you cant forward on texts - you know the basics of any phone. Cant use your own ringtone, it wont alarm without being switched on. It useless for work. Basically it's rubbish - just get an i pod touch for entertainment - because that is what this gadget is - but parades loosely under the umbrella of being a phone. Avoid at all costs!

Why put it on th worse network on the entire planet? Well I will tell you! Ever since BT cellnet were taken over my 02, their standards kinda went down the pan, they have made exculsive phones in the past but they have either been too expensive and very pointless. The iphone is still very pointless and still very expensive try (270) for HTMT moble phone with NO 3G, whats the point in that? No point waste of time money and with no effort. Okay, Things in the Iphone must go! stockmarkets cant, but the youtube icon can, its only there for lazy peoplewho can't be bothered to go on the internet and find it! (If it has an internet) They braught it out far too early, they should take it back, put an extra front camra on it give it 3G, then resell it for only for £175, and on all networks, but apple is made for 02 only! But, there is talk of a new iphone coming out so, lets wait and see! To Hifaash I think one of the reasons Brits hate the iphone is because of the technology we have available. I have family in Mission, Texas, who i often mock over the mobile technology they have to make do with. Personally,i think we Brits expected better technology from a multi-billion pound company, especially with the asking price of the product. Plus, internationally it seems unfair that while many of the super powers are having a credit crunch, Apple feel it necessary to charge people £800 for what is a sub-par phone Personally, my encounters with iphone (quite a few, one of my best mates has one)have made it come across to me as an excellent Media device, but little else. The camera is disgraceful, the 'Navigation' is bearable at the best of times and the typing is uncomfortable. I can say the that the internet is great, but with both a psp and an eee pc, i dont think a third internet device would really be needed

I think the iPhone makes a great gadget that u never get bored with simply by installing new programs, games, themes - the lot, and the user interface is great and very easy to use. Altho stated as a 2mp camera, when pics uploaded to pc they look far better quality than expected. However, as a phone i think there is a few major downfalls. I, like many others out there, use bluetooth a lot mainly for file sharing, this cannot be done with the iPhone altho i'm sure somebody will come up with a program to do it soon. Edge, altho available in most places, is VERY EXPENSIVE. BEWARE if u are on contract and use a lot without an unlimited bolt on. I have had to cancel a few nights out with the lads shortly after receiving my bill - NOT GOOD!!! I have downloaded a program that is suppose to enable the user to turn on/off services but doesnt work! Battery life is ok considering the numerous features. I am also disappointed that MMS does not feature as i used that a lot on my previous phones. I have downloaded "Swirly MMS" which is suppose to do the trick altho i have so far not been able to get it to work! Overall, great gadget, disappointing phone.

Ok lots of bad reviews on here about the iphone, well im going to add my bit first off im not tied to any silly contract. Next thing to was to update the firmware to 1.1.4 & then Jailbreak it I now have alot of apps, themes, wallpapers, games and ringtones have a video camera that does 15fps and is very decent quality with sound. Also have MMS installed on it to so now can send and receive picture messages no problem. Also added bonus it unlocked to any network. Battery life hasn't been a problem for me as when not using wifi i turns it off and dims the screen slightly this keeps it runnig for a few days with out recharging. Plus i live in an area where EDGE is strong so using mobile built in internet hasn't been a problem. The iphone on it own is pretty standard affair but once you use it to it full potential it becomes one of the best gadgets/mobiles on the market today. Only downsides i find now with this mobile is the limited bluetooth & can't change the battery but these are only small problems for me.

Well, I've had my iPhone for a good few months now and I still think it's a beautiful phone. However, I am now changing to a more practical phone as I am fed up of some of the iPhone's features. The best things about the iPhone are: o Ipod - uses cover-flow, and it's really fun to use, holds loads of tracks (2000) and is easy to use. o Browser/Internet - uses Apple's Safari browser, it's just like using your computer, something I'm really gonna miss! o Sat Nav - as good as google maps! Worst points are: o MMS - You can't send or receive picture messages which, in this day and age, is a major downside o Video recording - Again the iPhone is seriously compromising when it doesn't include video recording! o SMS interface - it's handy to see your SMS history as a conversation but the keyboard is difficult to use compared with conventional keyboards (especially when drunk!) So overall I'd say it's a pretty phone and a lovely music player, but you need to be able to sacrifice MMS, video messaging & normal texting! I'd basically say the iPhone is a media player with a phone, not a phone with a media player! Laura xx Worst

Like many other phones in it's class I can synchronise it to my outlook, fill it with notes and appointments, and have even used it to find a location when my Tomtom's battery had died. Surfing the net is a little slow, but it makes up for this by being able to pull up real websites as apposed to the toned down versions made specifically for phone users. I have a Blackberry as well but find the iphone more versatile and easier to use. If you are after toys, perhaps the iphone is not for you. LMAOPMPMP!!) make an infinately more efficient communication device then the i"Phone"!LOLOLOL !! Corrections for the ignorant below; 1) Apple aren't reknown for being the one of the most EVIL,INSIDIOUS AND GREEDY companies in the world for no reason. 2) If you check the small print from the agreement you signed to when buying your iPhone you will find that unlocking the device etc ie modifying the hardware/sofware in anyway without the agreement of Apple IS ILLEGAL. 3)The iPHONE cannot be purchased via cash anonymously(brand new) from authorised retailers only A FULLY TRACEABLE(name, address etc)cash card is accepatble. Therefore whatever(due to whoever) happens to the iphone it is the original owner whose details are fully available to Apple and will face any claim/retribution/litigation from them if the legal agreement made with the orignal purchase is shown to be broken eg identification of the IMEI# active with a non-authorized network even if this is due to the non-original owner. 4) It is urban myth that the MAC OS is more resistant to malware attack that WINDOWS - its just that relatively no-one uses Mac (well thats no surprise - its like asking if people prefer to eat there own turds)so there little financial draw for the effort in even making malware specifically for Mac OS. But unless the MAC OS, on which the iPhone is based, is kept updated with patches... well basically it means while you think you are so clever with your unlocked IPhone the chance of it turning into a BRICK(for you or the now angry p!ssed off person you sold it too)sooner rather than later is high! Yes you might be able to obtain the patches but thats going to mean more research and work to keep the phone from bricking and you can be sure Apple will continue to find ways to make it difficult to do at least initially - by which time if there is a highly infectious devastating worm doing the rounds you'll just be left with a useless ugly fat sardine can (.....not that that equal s any transformation to anyone with a shred of objectivity and values substance aswell as style)

I got an iphone just after christmas 2007 ( im in uk by the way ) when my mate finally got software on how to unlock it using his laptop so at first it was like wow the all amazing iphone. There is only one thing i can say now that is good about it and its the reaction others have when u pull it out your pocket but even that is becoming less of an impact. The camera is rubbish, it doesnt have bluetooth, edge could not give u a good signal if u were floating about outside one of its satellites and do u want to record a video of a special moment or something amazing happening well hope you have a video camera with you because the iphone isnt recording anything. It is good for reading emails but if u have a life and use hotmail dont expect to be accesssing it without some messing about first. not only that but if your loading up a video from youtube which takes like 5 hours you have to keep tapping the screen to make sure the auto sleep doesn't return the screen to be ing locked because if it does you will have to load the video up all over again. you could just set it so that it doesnt do the power save feature but well then that gives you an amazing 10 hours battery life if your lucky. also dont expect any screensavers or themes which look good because unless your iphone is unlocked with summerboard then you are stuck with the theme they factory you with so rating the phone for me is 1 out of 5 im going to go get myself a nokia 6500 slide they well better than the iphone any my iphone is broken now . a weird line appeared across the screen and is gradually getting worse but dont worry its only 149 pound to get a replacement screen to put on yourself .

I'm sorry. but the people who say things like "lame attempt", "all show" "only looks good" "overpriced" are being a bit...how can i put this...blind to what is really there. Ok if you do exactly what apple and o2 want you to do like a bunch of mindless zombies, then of course its not worth it. But i would be prepared to go to an apple shop pay £269 take it home and then unlock it. Problem 1, price, solved. While unlocking it, the program i would use (i wont say what it is) would jailbreak it so that i could install apps on it. Now you have access to thousands and thousands of apps to solve things it is lacking like MMS and Video Recording. Not to mention enhanced Camera apps, games, GBA and Ps1 emulators, the ability to control a pc or mac from the iphone, VoIP, Customize the look, download videos from youtube, download music from the browser, record voice notes, go on MSN or other IM account. There are so many possibilities i would give this phone 10/5 yes thats ri ght 10 out of 5. It's absolutely awesome, the only thing wrong with it i would say is the fact that the camera isn't great. So maybe 9 out of 5. Currently there is a small addon unit being created that has GPS hardware in, and an external Camera is in the making so goodbye to those problems. Also, the second generation iphone will probably have 3G but i had a 3G handset and didn't use the 3G function once.

Clearly the phone has flaws, and I bet everyone is thinking why on earth Apple have done this. Well i'll tell you why, MONEY. Every apple product looks great and with clever marketing everyone thinks they need the product. The first ever edition of any apple product is terrible, and has major flaws. And Apple know this, the reason this phone is so flawed is simply because Apple don't want you to buy the perfect product and then not need to buy another one. They will soon bring out another one and some of the flaws will be fixed tempting current users to maybe buy again, and also users who haven't got one to purchase. A classic example is the iPod. First the mono-chrome screen, then the colour, then video and now classic and touch! Apple will always better a product to keep making money. If the iPhone was perfect how could they bring out another version and continue making money!! This is purely a money making concept, how long till an iPhone nano, or something ridiculous. Within the next 12 months i guarantee there will be a newer version of the iPhone with many, but not all, of the flaws fixed. This is how Apple works.

I agree with Kabir on the front that apple make things with a high price tag and how they try to make hybrids, and I also agree with his statement about getting an iPod classic or touch, and using the other money on getting a phone that can do what you need a phone to do, ie Text and call, maybe take pictures. Apple, I believe, have made a brave step forward with the iPhone and I believe it may be the wrong move to make. None the less its still a nice phone and it does do what it says, its just a bit to costly for most people's liking. I agree with the sites review on a 3 stars out of 5

Buying a sim locked phone from the States and getting it unlocked in any country is easy but the only back fall is when u try and upgrade the software the phone will behave funny and will freeze but if you buy it from France as it is the only country which was given Iphones unlocked and software upgrade no problems. The price is abit to steep for that phone.what is the Main purpose to use this phone - music, camera, texting, calls or show offs. Buy a ipod 60gb where u can have movies and music, get a normal phone with a 5megapixel camera which will serve all the requirements like the NOKIA N95 8GB.

Will be sticking with the N95 for the time being as I have the tom tom sat nav loaded, and that it serves me well. Will cancel my contract with o2 this month and wait until the prices for the iphone become more realistic. Quick calculation £329 for the phone and another £630 in contract costs, and not forgetting that you would normally be given a phone worth between £300-£400 pounds, which takes the cost of an iphone upto nearly £1300 pounds in 18 months. Not forgetting that the 32gb iphone is already planned its callled the itouch at the moment. Love my phones but think I'll sit this one out for a while.

I own an iPhone (FW 1.1.1) and i bought it from ebay for just over £300 and unlocked it (easy to do, not illegal and illeminates all comments about the iphones price as £300 for a phone + ipod in one (without the other amazing features) is amazingly good value for money!) I installed a program called "Installer" and with this i can install many many (endless) 3rd party apps which allow you to do many things such as send picture messages, pro+ camera (zoom, focus etc.) I have also found that the battery seems to last longer the more you charge it?! Dont know why but it lasts me a good couple of days and i use it heavily. You dont need to download ringtones via itunes, you can upload a ringtone to itunes, convert to AAC and then change the file extension from ".m4a" to ".m4r" and readd to library. Hardly a problem. The bluetooth sharing option seems to be the problem people have most with it i find, and if you think about it, why would apple do this? Imagine all the sales they would lose from itunes?! The camera CAN be converted to a video camera with a future software update. Bluetooth headphones are also on there way (i believe apple sell some already??) With 4G just over the horizon, why would apple choose to jump on the 3G boat? I am pretty sure that the iphone can be upgraded to enable 4G via a software update. In a nutshell, people can hate all they want. Use this phone and then use any other phone which claims to rival it at the moment. The iphone is the best by far, and has the most potential to move forward in the future without releasing new handsets. If you hate you hate, this review nor nothing will change that. At some point in the future, you will eat your words because this phone is the future.

I have the phone for nearly a month now and I am still admired the built of the iphone (very sleek indeed). It does feel very solid in your hand like no other mobile out there. I have also played around with the Sony W960i and the Nokia N95 in the shops and those feel 'plastic' in comparison. Don't get me wrong, those are also good phones in their own right. In terms of technology, you have to give and take - 'you can't have everything'. Ok, it hasn't got 3G but then, I had no problem browsing the full internet on the streets. If I need the speed, then I would stay indoor and use my PC instead. But if I am out and need to access the internet straight away, unless I carry a laptop with me, then there is no equal in terms of convenience. Plus the screen size excels that of any mobile phone out there. I just checked my incoming email and sent it off again, that's that simple. Ipod is good, but then be honest, how many songs do you actually listen on the road? 8GB is more than enough for its purpose. I already have a whole library of songs in there. Sound-wise, it is sufficient for its job. I don't think the speaker was designed to imitate loud speaker, that's why you got the headphones. And of course, you can always add accessories to make it into a music system. Ok, the tarriff is a little expensive and the phone comes with a price, but then surfing is free. As for the camera, it is not bad. Pictures were crisp. But then, if I really want to take photos, I will use my 8MP camera to do the proper job. To sum it up, the iphone is a novelty and nice in all its aspect. Though lacking in several areas like 3G and so on, it has not dissapointed me so far. I know that Apple is going to release future firmware and upgrades (which other phone offers that?) Finally, it looks even nice on the pedestral as a decoration piece. Don't get me wrong, I am not big fans of Apple (but you have to give them some credit for coming up with this ingenious device).

Have used the new touch Ipod for a while I love it. Its the best gadget I own the interface is great and it gives you so much more screen. What i cant believe is how bad the specs for the iphone are. Its a premium priced gadget with lower specs than the bottom end Nokia i just bought my father for Christmas. To the American who says we hate it because its apple that isnt it. Its just the US view of the telecomms market seems to be so different than that of the rest of the world. I can and have used my N95 anywhere in the world. I expect expensive phones to be feature rich and I expect to be able to swap sim cards when i go to places for a long time and want to have a local phone number. I just spent time in China and Japan with two very senior managers from the USA. Neither could make their phone work because of either plan or phone limitations. So they had to use mine. 10 Years ago my phone worked on the great wall of China and wouldnt work in New York US phones are designed for the US phone market and the global market is today much more advanced and has much higher expectations. So i give this 5 as a multimedia device and 2 as a phone.

Theses extreme reviews of people giving it a 5 stars and others people handing out 1 star shows that some people think the Apple iPhone is all style and no substance. While I think this mobile has flaws, recessed earphone input, no G3 and no video-recording. Its still ranks as one of the most innovative and desirable products of 2007 and it makes most other phones look quite dated and clunky. My advice is wait - this is a work in progress. Wait for the next iPhone generation. This rough diamond will soon turn into something more refined.

I had a look at the Apple iPhone when I was in california (USA) and i must say that it is a beautiful unique mobile phone. A mobile phone which is very reliable and can last you forever. It holds the best features that a mobile can have. Examples include the safari web browser - and you can zoom in and out with a touch of a finger. The best feature I like is the youtube add-in which is well cool as you can watch videos on the go. There are some down sides though. Firstly, it is very expensive. You would have to pay a minimum of £269.00 for the iPhone itself and now its on the 02 network you have to pay £35.00 as a minimum per month so it's going to leave your wallet empty unless you are loaded lol. The main question: Is it worth your money? In my opinion it's not because you are spending the money which could buy yourself a nice 15 inch laptop computer. So if you want a mobile which looks like an apple iphone, works similar to the iphone, does'nt cost as much and will make you stand out of the crowd well here is the answer - the LG PRADA mobile. Absolutely georgeous! You don't need anything better. (Please select LG Prada from the list and look at my review!) But, if you have a different opinion about the iPhone - sure that's fine! I tell ya what make yourself happy, go and have a look at it at your nearest apple retail store! Goodluck! By Surat Singh Dhillon www.mygadgetblog.com
