I've had my iphone 4 for a year now. I love it. It's my phone, camera, Tom Tom Satnav and my mini computer. Used it for running and recording stats and playing my running song tracks. Apple's customer service has been great. I didn't even want one but now I'm 'turned'. I really hate itunes and its backup -probably just me and I hate the signal drop but I use a case to protect it and rarely ever hada signal problem unless my mobile cell provider doesn't cover the area etc. I would like it to be tougher but a case/screen protect sorts that side out. Love it

Amazing phone, battery life 2-3 days normal use, easily 1 day with loads of use. Apps are great, call quality great, no complaints. Got in on a tesco (O2) plan, £270 for the phone for a 12 month contract at 35/m. So now I can get a 10p/m sim only deal and keep it another year. Highly recommended.

I just don't know why people are going crazy for this phone that doesn't give you exclusive access to all the features. In the Middle East people are buying this phone for USD 650+ (16GB). Retail sellers claim that they are fully unlocked but still you need to crack the phone to use it full functionality. May be it’s the popularity of the name or it could be the different taste but, I do not believe that it is worth that much. Also, there are no authorized service centers for Apple products here. Something happens out of warranty, you just forget it because you could buy a new phone with the repairing cost. Why don’t people see excellent phones like HTC Sensation, Desire S & Samsung Galaxy S 2, which have much better features, exclusive access to the features and full support? It is all about the name.

Only thing is the battery doesn't last long if you are using the internet. I have to charge it every night otherwise it doesn't last. But overall an outstanding phone. rating: 5 stars

A lot of these reviews now are quite old - bought this phone back in Feb 2011 after carefully reviewing it for several months. I have been absolutely blown away by Apple - I love this phone and like a lot of the people in the reviews below have had absolutely no problems with my signal either - the look of the phone is superb and the accessories you can buy for it are great - I pre-empted the signal problem and bought a cover for the phone early on just in case but never had the problem (although the case is fab anyway) cannot recommend highly enough. I can see myself staying with Apple now and in the future.

Upto a few weeks ago i always purchased Nokia handsets, but after two nokia fones with maemo{Nokia n900} and symbian 3{Nokia n8}, and then finding out the platforms were being dropped by Nokia I felt it time to try an alternative. After doing lots of homework on the net and in stores I kept looking at the iphone handsets. I use the ipod touch so am familiar with the general workings of the devices. I thought about the signal issues with the iphone 4 and the app's apple offer and the price of the device as I always buy my handsets outright. Now after using the iphone 4 black 16gb handset I can now say with confidence that im blown away with it. I use a rocketfish gel cover that protects the back and sides which stops signal drop, although im right handed so im not actually hit by this issue. Yes the app store has lots of fun app's but also lots of very useful ones too. Im amazed that I can now set my sky+ to record while im at work ! The battery life is pretty much on par with most smartfones on the market. I tend to recharge 1-2 days depending on use. Syncing is very easy with Outlook although uses of windows 7 should be aware that outlook no longer ships loaded onto the machine. I use pop3 e mail which does not allow extra e mail folders, and only gives you inbox, sent and trash which could be an issue if you want to organise lots of incoming e mails. After using the Nokia N8 this fone is a breath of fresh air. I use the internet very frequently and the N8 was such a chore with a slow clunky browser, even using opera mini only helped a little. It was embarrasing when i tried to open a site to show a friend and stand their waiting while it decided wether it wanted to open or not ! Now compare that to the iphone 4 internet experiance. Blows it out of the water ! One major downside is the cost of the device but you really do get what your pay for.

Overpriced rubbish. Calls drop constantly as Apple never bothered sorting the reception issues (apart from offering a cover case as a little sweetner....the arrogance!) Please do yourselves a favour and opt for HTC incredible s as this phone truly kicks iPhone add without robbing you blind at every turn. Steve jobs is lucky he still has a job after this version 4 fiasco. If you do stupidly opt for iPhone4 and discover major problems.....don't worry.....apple will bring out a new version to quickly make your newly flawed gadget a worthless piece of dated junk. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

Theres no questioning the fact that this is the best phone on the market. Theres nothing else to say its just amazing. Yeah it will take some getting used to but so would other phones. If you couldnt afford this phone the cheaper and the less luxurious option which is the Samsung Galaxy S. Which I had before my Ihpone 4 and I was quite dissapointed with the Galaxy S. I'm no Apple fanboy and reluctantly tried the iPhone 4 for VoIP and video calls via 3G/wifi. It's Grown on me and replaced my notebook for quick browsing. And email is a godsend. Phone calls are fine, but video calls when a passenger in a 89 mph car in the middle of nowhere drops signal lol This phone is awesome and I use it for everything and anything! Get it on a contract and stop complaining! Apple have done a great job and the signal problem is hyped up! Full strength here!

I personally think this phone is an awesome machine that unless you are unlucky, jealous or stupid you would never give it 1 star. It does cost an arm and a leg but you value things by how they make you feel, and does this little phone put a smile on your face! Has to be 5 stars for me.

After many years of buying the top models of Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones, I now have a Iphone 4. This is my first Apple product. I learned something quite fast, If you handle the Iphone 4 as a expensive phone and dont drop it, dont talking under a waterfall, using it as a skateboard or hammer, it´s actually pretty good. To the people who got issues with the Iphone 4, call support and get help instead of all this wining, you grownups and you paid good money for your Iphone 4, so use the support. This is the most awesome mobile/computer/toy/bling-bling/game machine I ever had, and from now on, ever will have. When I contacted support, it was the best phone support experience ever. No hassle, no waiting for 20 minutes on hold. Very professional service.

I really do think that the majority of people who "slam" the iPhone 4 haven't actually got one! Yes, there are some niggles but it makes the updates that much more exciting. The market is swamped with smart-phones now and its all down to personal choice. Try before you buy is the best advice to give. They are all different, believe me, I've had most of them! My most recent was the Nexus S - superb smartphone.... The Android market is getting better and a lot of the popular iPhone apps are now available for Android. There is just something about Apple products - they just "hit the spot". The iPhone 4 has better battery life than the 3GS, the camera is better, messaging and email are intuitive and easy to use and screen is fantastic. I rate it five stars because it does what it is supposed to do and more! Gone are the days where you just make a call or text from your phone. People expect so much more and in my opinion the iPhone 4 delivers it, in every respect!

I've had the iphone 4 since August 2010 and when compared against the 3GS - it is by far the better phone. Firstly, the iphone 4 allows you to have a good grip in your hand, instead of an annoying curve around the back. As well as this, every phone - whether it be the iphone 4 or a balst from the past suffers from some sort of signal loss when holding it in a certain place and because of this, the signal loss problems are irrelevent to the iphone. Top notch phone!

Ever since I got this there have been problems. The new software update has meant its not functioning properly and when I first got it there were major signal problems. It attracts tones of fingerprints and you get the feeling that if you drop it, it will just smash and fall to pieces. For the price it is a joke. Its SO EXPENSIVE.

I have owned a lot mobiles including Nokia, SE, Balckberry and so on but I can say without hesitation iphone is the best. I purchased the bumper case to protect it from falls. The touch screen in flawless I have never had any issues with drop calls etc either, battery life is awesome and screen is wiothout a doubt the best out there. I think it all comes to personal taste, the iphone is classy, full of features and a joy to use I would recommend it anyone, one thing you must appreciate there is not a single phone on the market which is absolutely perfect. You just have to choose which suites you better.

I have had this phone for two weeks and can honestly say it is the best phone I have had (and I have had them all!!!). It is fast, responsive and intuitive. It does not drop call or overreact to touch either. It may be expensive on the whole, but will probably save me a fortune in the long run as it will stop me buying and selling phones every few weeks, as now I have finally found the phone of my dreams!!!! Highly recommend!!!!!!

I have had the iPhone4 for 4 months now and I am to say the least far from impressed! For me the most glaring ( and galling) omission is the lack of " full Bluetooth". I have read about emailing pictures, but what if your recipient has no email on the phone? ( i don't) MMS? why send it that way and incur an unnesasry cost? I bought my iPhone on pay as you go, the. Anttena gate issue is another deal breaker, in order to realise full functionality I have had to jailbreak the bloody thing!!? When other phone users get all the above "out of the box!!" the sound isn't that good either the camera is mediocre at n Best, all in all, a flawed design made worse by the strangle hold of the mac empire. I am asked on occasion to get my joke of a phone out to transfer a file and I cannot. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!

Best phone ever made! Light years ahead of the competition. Sets the standards by which all other phones are measured. Oozes quality and sophistication, yet its beauty is its simplicity. More expensive than other phones and justifiably so in my opinion (I don't see anyone complaining that a ferrari is more expensive than a mini).

What can I say, I hated the apple iPhones, because they were so overpriced. Did have a Blackberry storm of which I hated the lack of apps on it. Phone was due an upgrade, could not decide between Windows 7 Samsung Omnia or Galaxy S, went totally out of the window & bought the iPhone. Although missing Flash support there are ways around it like the BBC news app etc. I will now never change my phone again and it means I now no longer need my 30GB iPOd.

My wife dropped her phone and broke it, so went to the O2 shop to get her another PAYG Nokia, cos I always tend to go for Nokia phones. Whilst in there I got looking at the iPhone4. The result is that I now own a iPhone4, she has my old Nokia5800, and my student son has my sim card from the Nokia to run out the rest of the contract (cos O2 wouldnt upgrade me 7 months early - since I wouldnt be a heavy user) I have to say that this phone takes quite a bit of getting used to, for example in messages, you dont see your Inbox/sent items as a whole, only as a "conversation" with whoever you sent them to. Overall I have to say that I'm very impressed with the phone, signal is not an issue, battery life etc is fairly acceptable. My biggest annoyance is that I cant seem to load on my own ringtones from my computer, everything has to go through iTunes, and so far I havent been able to load on any music or ringtones to it. I possibly could be on the verge of taking it back (its too expensive to bounce off a wall) for that reason alone. If you already have apple products and have got the hang of their quirky little ways of doing things then this is a great phone, but if like me, you have never used apple products before then this takes quite a bit of getting used to, although as smartphones go this would appear to be the one to beat. Decisions decisions, stuck here between a rock and a hard place!!

One word sums up this phone, stunning! That screen blew me away and there isn't another out there like it. The galaxy s has an excellent screen too, but not as good as the iphone 4. No signal problems whatsoever, the camera and video are incredible, internet blazing fast, and the app store continues to thrill all that use it with its quite brilliant array of apps. Sky mobile tv works like a dream even over 3g and how fantastic is it to sit at work and watch a Premiership football match!! Awesome phone.

Since I can remember I have always had a nokia and never felt comfortable using any other manufacturer. I then purchased the 3gs and found it to be a very plastic and sent it back and new that something better would arrive. It did and it feels more solid which is an important factor. It works as it should, a mixture of practicality and styling but compromised on some basic functions. For example message counter and call times. Touch screen does not always respond with finger touch and would be good to use with gloves. Had apple thought about increasing the power of the mic for loudspeaker use it would have been so much more nicer to use and the battery life is awful for power usage. Call dropping is not really such a problem although there are times when outgoing calls drop or the damn thing goes on mute when touching my cheek. Otherwise the apps are great or at least useful. unfortunatly free apps are few and far between if not pointless.

Yes the Apple Tax is high but I've had no signal problems, no "death grip" issues and no proximity sensor problems. The video kicks HTC into the weeds, the camera too thanks to its outstanding colour balance and light sensitivity. The app store is a million miles ahead of the Market (don't even think about Ovi!), battery life is acceptable and all round performance is unmatched even by the latest 1Ghz processors. My friends have Wildfire, Galaxy S and Desire handsets and there's no way I would swap. The iPhone doesn't do everything but what it does do, it does perfectly and without fuss, drama or re-installation nightmares. Actually the only thing it's missing, for me, is the ability to send a calendar appointment to a contact. In 2 months I have never once said "I wish it had Flash" either! My work colleagues have connectivity issues indoors on Orange (5 bar signal but calls simply not received!) but I have no such problems on 02. All round this is easiily the best phone available. I love it.

The extreme fans who swear by thier own brands anger me more so now I have used both handsets as I have mentioned I feel they are pretty much the same, the desire does small things the iPhone can't and vice versa, also no connection issues with mine either. Just got mine a few days ago on Orange as an upgrade. It was a choice between the HTC Desire, Blackberry 9700 and the IPhone 4. (oh and the guys in Orange, carphone warehouse and Phones for u all said forget the nokia N8!) Well after much um and aaaarghing I decided against HTC desire coz it does not seem to do push email on Hotmail reliably (internet research showed that), the blackberry keys were just to small for me as was the screen. Not regretted decision so far, no signal probs, everything so easy to set up and Orange gave me the 32GB for the price of the 16GB! Result. Sooooo many apps to look at, email is brilliant and web browsing sublime! Have to say for the everyday non techy user you can see why Apple sells as many products as it does, I don't want to or know how to, personalise it to the nth degree the way some people say it is to restrictive, it all just works so intuitively. And that display..............well its amazing. Yes expensive compared to HTC and Android phones but you are buying a well made product thats Just works! Highly recommend it!
