Reviewed by Neil on 24/01/2012 I bought my Whirlpool washing machine less than 3 years ago. I expect a washing machine to last for at least 5 years before giving trouble, but the bearing has just went in mine. UK consumer law seems to view a bearing failure before the machine is 4 years old as not being of "merchantable quality". However, you usually have to bring the seller to small claims court to enforce this. I won't be buying whirlpool again!! Rating:
Reviewed by Andrew on 22/11/2011 Such a shame that our whirlpool AWO D 5726 will be consigned to the scrap heap after just 34 months. Such a waste. Bearings have gone, which isn't a supprise now that i've read this site. Got it reduced at Comet, now i know why. Rating:
Reviewed by David on 24/09/2011 Bought this machine from Comet 2 years ago, it was for sale at around £350, reduced to £240, we thought good deal as Whirlpool is an established world wide brand, one word Awful. It's always been a loud machine but last week on the final spin cycle the noise was horrific, found out the bearings have gone, this will cost 2/3 the price I paid to fix it, what a joke, the machine looks good to he eye but don't touch it if you value your money. I know people who have had Washing Machines for 10 years and use it twice a day, we use this 4 times a week. Am disgusted the manufacturers haven't recalled these machines they have lot to answer for. Rating:
Reviewed by Brian on 12/09/2011 Bearing gone on our machine after 18months running and also noted at bottom of machine that it started to rust through from the back to front of the machine even though there was no leakage of water. Very poorly built machine I think you can get a better machine (maybe not a branded model) that will cost less and last longer. Rating:
Reviewed by Rich on 06/08/2011 Last washing machine was a Zanussi, it lasted 17 years with no problems. This piece of rubbish has knocked the drum bearings out in just over a year. What a joke, how can manufacturers be allowed to sell this sort of trash!Avoid Whirlpool at all cost. What a shame we no longer make things in this country anymore, goods may be cheap but they are also very often rubbish. The manufacturers should be made to give a 5 year warranty. Rating:
Reviewed by Jan Wright on 09/06/2011 Lasted all of 15th months before bearings went. Would cost half its purcahse price to repair. Never again!! Rating:

Reviewed by p o'neill-east on 09/03/2011 I have had my whirlpool washing machine for 15 years, the only repair I have had is a new door rubber as after such a long time it perished. The front enamel has peeled off and is not a pretty sight but what value for money. I would definitely buy another. Rating:

Reviewed by Dave Kelly on 09/07/2010 Judging by other reviews, mine is the same. Bearing trouble. Not worth the inconvenience. Will never buy another Whirlpool. If it was a car, all models would be recalled. Rating:
Reviewed by Debbie Dibble on 07/07/2010 Bought this machine in place of a Haier machine that lasted 3 months! Initially good but noisy on full spin. After 12 months it had become very loud on all cycles to the point where we couldnt use it. Comet agreed to replace faulty major components. New bearings and new drum total cost excluding labour £200. 2 months later the machine over heated during a cycle wouldnt drain or spin and the door remained locked. After engineers visit found out the pump has gone and possibly the thermostat. In short this machine although costing £399 is no better than the cheapest on the market. AVOID AT ALL COSTS Rating:

Reviewed by Vern Moorhouse on 23/04/2010 Add to experience of poor quality bearings. First drum bearing went after 4 months, replaced under warranty which the repairer reckoned cost nearly as much as the machine. Replacement bearing failed again after just over 12 months. Not worth repairing, scrapped and bought a John Lewis washing macine which has a three year guarantee. I always thought Whirlpool were a reasonable make but it sems not at least with this model. Reviewed by jimmy johnstone on 18/04/2010 this is the first time i've purchased a whirlpool and my LAST. started making excessive noise on fast spin, just over a year old and the bearings are gone. wish i had read the reviews, I would never have bought this machine a complete waste of money.Never even tried to get it repaired, straight to the scrap heap where it belongs.(DON'T BUY) be warned Rating:
Reviewed by Deecee on 13/04/2010 Another similar story. Bought December 2008, bearings gone by January 2010 - 13 months. After I had received a diagnosis of the fault, I sent Whirlpool a copy of all the comments on this forum and suggested that the machine is not fit for purpose. Predictably they say "we are unable to comment on any unsubstantiated internet forums". Rating:
Reviewed by F Wilson on 23/03/2010 Bearings have gone after 9 months, have been waiting almost 3 weeks for Comet to replace drum, do not buy it. Rating:
Reviewed by KJM on 17/12/2009 The drum bearing became noisy and failed at less than 6 months. At the same time an electronic fault. Boots deny that there is an inherent problem and have insisted on their right to repair despite my request for a refund or replacement. Obtaining spares and returning to repair taking over a week which is very inconvenient. This machine is a disappointment as I specifically selected whirlpool on the basis of our two previous machines that were outstanding and ran faultlessly for 9 years each. Rating:
Reviewed by adele on 08/12/2009 Do not buy this machine , drum bearings failed after 6 months , engineer came out and fitted a new drum ,so if that lasts 6 months the guarantee will be out by then. so you will be spending hundreds on a machine that will only last 12 months , not value for money at all . after the 1st engineer fitted the new drum the clothes were coming out wet , so the 2nd engineer came out again and altered the drum speed ,to speed it up , so it looks like they slow the drum down after replacement to make the bearings last longer, load of rubbish .you have been warned Rating:
Reviewed by jason on 03/12/2009 do not buy, constant bearing faults,i will never buy another whirlpool product again, and i have to laugh whirlpool treated my machines failure as an unusual occurence in a machine so new(4 months),rubbish they know damn well this particular machine has a serious bearing issue and refuse to refund us so i can replace it with a more relyable appliance, instead they just offer to repair it,i have to take time off work to allow engineer come and take it away and then another half day to acomodate its return, Rating:
Reviewed by jim in hull 11/11/09 on 11/11/2009 bought this machine 29th 12 08 from comet, good price £ 185.00 and initially pleased with quality of machine but the bearing has gone after 10months and the noise is like a jet engine. Engineer looked at it today and immediately acknowledged that the bearing had gone. we are awaiting a replacement but after reading these reviews and realising that this seems to be a common fault we are worried about continuing with this model. I think we need to change it for a different machine, watch this space..... Rating:

Reviewed by G Clements on 30/07/2009 Bought product August 2008, by Novemenber same year bearing had gone, causing excessive noise on spinning. Machine was replaced by Argos, as I was not happy with the length of time it would take to replace the drum. Now I am experiencing a lot of noise with the second machine, which is approximately 7 months old. Whirlpool engineer is visiting tomorrow, lets see what happens! Rating:
Reviewed by J Morgan on 03/06/2009 cant fault this machine it has everthing you could want variable spin speeds good choice of wash programmes and most all a countdown timer brilliant product by whirlpool Rating:
Reviewed by R Clarke on 21/05/2009 I bought one of these in December. By May it was making more noise than the old machine I had, so the engineer came out to look at it. The bearing had gone and he had to replace the drum. Apparently, this machine has only ONE bearing instead of the usual TWO, so chances are it will fail again just after the guarantee runs out. I would avoid it like the plague. Rating:
Reviewed by Alan Brooker on 06/01/2009 Machine works well. Have done 60 and 90 degree washes since purchase a week ago. It's quiet enough and doesn't jump around like our last machine (a Zanussi which lasted since 1995 without a problem until the main bearings wore - but it kept on going!) Hope this machine which is all electronic will last as long. Rating:
Reviewed by Alan Holden on 26/12/2008 Rubbish machine - do not buy. Paddles (plastic ridges inside the drum) fall off all the time. Rating:
