Reviewed by Allan Barlow (wigan) on 13/08/2008 We have had our WE12 for 12 years and the the first problem has just occured - pump has just failed - what a fantastic machine this is!!! Rating:
Reviewed by Jon S on 17/05/2008 Not reliable enough. Broken twice in 6 years and needed servicing. Other times just errors and needs reseting. I won't buy indesit again. Rating:
Reviewed by Ms Stewart on 03/02/2008 I have had this machine since 2002 and haven't had any problems at all. We occasionally have to fish small items out of the pump which is fine. We have just had the bearings changed which cost us £60 but after giving this machine some serious hammer over the past 5 years it's only to be expected. For what it cost this machine has been great - it's got a fast spin, good energy efficient etc and is very quiet. Rating:
Reviewed by Karen J on 25/03/2006 Have to agree with everyone else that this machine is rubbish. The
bearings on ours have not gone, however we have had a problem with the
electronics since it was about 13 months old. It gets stuck on the 90
degree programme. It can be adjusted, but the 30 degree programme takes 1 and a half hours instead of 30 mins for the daily wash programme. It took
3 weeks for Indesit to send out an engineer, who did not have the part.
The engineer told us this was a common problem on this machine. Apparently moisture gets into the printed circuit board and the elctronics go wonky.
Later machines have apparently had a coating put on the PCB to prevent
this. It took another 8 weeks before we heard from them, to say that the
part was not going to be available for another 3 weeks. By this time we
were in between houses and the machine was in storage, so we have never
had it fixed. It works on and off. I also find the machine very noisy, and
most of the programmes are pretty lengthy as well.
My advice - DO NOT BUY!! Rating:
Reviewed by Mr & Mrs Lynch on 04/02/2006 Just another one to add to the list, the bearings gone after 2 years!
Shame it is not robust given the features and good washing performance. Rating:
Reviewed by Mr & Mrs Guest on 04/01/2006 Warning do not Buy ,our last machine was an Indersit and it laster over 10 years with no problems so we felt safe buying an indersit again ! WRONG!
always been a very noisy machine ,had numerous problems with faulty timer, door seal ect now the bearings have gone (inner bearings near the drum) The machine is only just over a year old!!!!!! off to buy a new machine
tomorrow ,not an Indersit evolution !!!!! Rating:

Bearings gone in it,and various other things.Engineer came out,he refused to repair it he said it was dangerous and too expensive to mend ,he suggested scrapping it.So now going out to buy new one.WARNING DO NOT BUY!! Reviewed by Graham W - Bracknell on 16-05-2005 I have had the WE16 for about 2 years and it has worked well but mostly for weekly light use. However, I have noted three faults recently and two remain outstanding but I am trying to work around them or find replacement parts or may seek service from Indesit as a last resort. The water flow to the conditioner compartment has stopped - I don't know why, on fast spin the drum is hitting something inside (perhaps the outer drum wall or the heater) and sounds like anti- aircraft guns going off - the postman has twice ducked for cover, the water filter/trap wont open - I thought there might be parts of the bearing or heater stuck in it! From the previous comments it seems that the spinning problem is due to the bearings being of insufficient design spec and they have probably worn to allow some lateral movement so I will try to replace them. Also from the above comments I won't bother with Indesit service calls at #90, life is too short. My recommendation to those who might want to purchase this WE16 machine is: Don't! Over many years of experience with many household appliances including garden and DIY tools I have come to the conclusion that items of German manufacture are best for almost everything. They cost more but it is unlikely to burn out, blow up or attempt to kill you and will run for years. Pity I didn't see these comments before I bought the WE16 - the WE16 is not a cheap appliance and I expected more, having had to replace the bearings on a Hotpoint washer twice and wishing to avoid a repeat experience. You live and learn. Rating:
Reviewed by Mrs Oliver on 11-05-2005 Don't buy - had mine 1 year 6 months and been waiting for engineer to call to fix since 23rd April. Rang to chase and staff all very unhelpful. Would never buy Indesit again. Rating:
Reviewed by Mr Phillips on 17-01-2005 Washes well , but as other reviewers state the drum bearings are not up to standard . Mine have just failed after 2 1/2 years of light use . On dismantling the machine ,( not easy ! ), the bearing nearest the drum has overheated through lack of lubrication . I think indesit just increased the speed of the basic machine ( for increased sales ) without thought/design for durability. Rating:
Reviewed by Mrs Perrin on 26-08-2004 I would never buy indesit again mine has broken down after just 10 months, but the after sales service is appalling. Took over a week for engineer to call then he did not have any parts with him so came back the next day with one part. This part did not fix it so came back for a third day with another part, still not working. Said he had to order another part. Rang Indesit to complain. I was told the engineer would be coming tomorrow (Saturday) for the forth time. No one turned up even though I rang at 3pm and was told that the engineer was on his way. Saturday wasted!!! Monday told engineer would come Tuesday. He came Tuesday machine still not working. Customer services don't care not their problem got to wait for the engineers report. Don't know when I will get a working machine!!!! Don't buy INDESIT!!! Rating:
Reviewed by Big Daddy on 22-06-2004 Don't buy one. I've had exactly the same problems as the other reviewer. Drum bearings last 12 months if you're lucky - apparently the bearings used are running outside of their design specifications most of the time! Rating:
Reviewed by Mr & Mrs K on 03-04-2004 We had no regrets with purchasing this machine until one month after the warranty expired. The paddles on the inner drum all sheared of during one wash of a half load cycle, to reveal they were made of cheap plastic. Having phoned Indesits service team on numerous occasions, we found them to be very unhelpful and discovered they will not phone back regardless of what they tell you. Two weeks later we still don't have a working washing machine or a firm date for a repair. Shocking service, and at #300+ you'd expect it to last a bit longer. Rating:
Reviewed by Anderw Hirst on 15-01-2004 Don't bother with this or any of the evolution range (WE12, WE14, WE16) of washing machines .... The main drum bearing will probably fail very quickly. Mine failed after about 6 months the first time and the second one failed after another 6 months. Its a design flaw. Once its out of warranty (even 3 weeks like mine), it will cost #90 to get Merloni out to replace it, although the parts are free for 4 years after the first year's warranty expires. Still, typically, it will cost #180 per annum to run it......It washes OK though. Rating:
