Hotpoint WT960 ReviewRating: Date: 04/01/2007 The Hotpoint WT960 is a reasonably priced washing machine, with a larger than average 7 Kg load capacity. It has a 1600rpm spin speed, one of the highest rpm available, and is rated A+ (the highest energy rating available) for efficiency. Available in a choice of 2 colours, Polar white and Graphite, it can match a colour scheme you may have.
The machine is a Super Silent washer, which has a specialised induction motor that dramatically reduces noise levels during the wash cycle to as low as 47dB. It also comes with an LED Display to indicate everything you need to know about the wash; the fabric type, spin speed, temperatures, programme progress, time delay and time left to run. A handy device if you wish to know things like how long is left to run on the cycle at a glance.
It has other in-built features such as Platinum Woolmark, Super Wash, 'A' Wash at 40 °C, Fast washes, Wash Enhance, a Rinse hold programme and Mini Load. The Super Wash programme tackles even the worst-case scenario without needing to pre-wash. The Platinum Woolmark is a hand wash wool programme which is endorsed by Woolmark to care for your hand wash only woollen items Depending on the load you can select a light, normal or heavy soil programme to tailor the wash accordingly, saving you time and energy. Mini Load is ideal if you want to wash a few items quickly, selecting this button uses less water and energy and saves you time. Hotpoint washing machines deliver the best 'A' wash performance at just 40°C giving you greater wash performance at lower temperatures. The programme temperature and spin speed can be adjusted to suit different fabric types. The machine has the following overall ratings: 'A' Wash, 'A+' Energy, 'A' Spin.
The machine comes with a child lock, which prevents little fingers from altering any options or programmes you have chosen.
The Time Delay feature lets you set your programme to start up to 24 hours in advance to take advantage of cheaper electricity or wash at a time that suits you best. This option allows you to reduce the spin speed on a wash cycle to 800rpm to help reduce creasing.
In general, this washing machine is very reasonably priced, and is recommended. It has a good range of programmes and options, which allow you to do a bit more than just turn the machine on and wait.

Reviewed by Mrs T on 14/07/2008 Bought machine in Oct 07 because I wanted an environmentally friendly machine, and my last machine machine was from Hotpoint so I trusted them. However I always end up with detergent residue all over the clothes. Hotpoint/Indesit have been no help at all. Have had 2 engineers out who can find nothing wrong with the machine, but also say that I've done nothing wrong. I've followed all their instructions - have cleaned the machine, have changed temp, have added extra rinse, have reduced amount of detergent - all to no avail. But Hotpoint won't replace the machine because their engineers can't find anything wrong - although I question their expertise since I asked one engineer if he could plug a computer into the machine (like you do with cars) to see what's wrong with it, and he said that's not possible; but when the 2nd engineer came out, he amazingly plugged a computer into the machine!! I have now contacted the retailer who are trying to sort it out for me, as I' ve now said that it's "not fit for purpose" - so fingers crossed. As for the loud spin, mine hasn't been too bad, but is certainly not super silent. Although one of the engineers told my husband that they no longer say super silent spin because they've had loads of problems, so they now say super silent wash instead!! What a con!! Avoid this machine and Hotpoint/Indesit like the plague. Rating:

Reviewed by Anon on 27/10/2007 Hotpoint WT960G, good looks and features, but drum is so damn noisy, it rubs against back panel causing wear and tear and produces unbearable grinding noise. After 7(yes, SEVEN) visits from Comet, eventually replaced with LG Direct Drive... Beware, if buying this machine... Rating:
