Reviewed by janet marsland on 29/06/2008initially when bought this machine was really good. however just after years warranty expired we have had no end of problems. The lastest one has so far cost £70 and still not fixed. the engineer recommends getting a new one!!! Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Margarita Morris on 26/05/2008 Having had this washing machine for over a year now I would say that it still washes well but the noise level has definitely increased so it doesn't count as a "quiet wash" any more and the soap dispenser drawer has a tendency to go mouldy so you need to take it out regularly for a thorough cleaning. I find it's best to use a "regular" fabric conditioner rather than a "concentrate" because they tend to clog up the drawer more quickly. Still a good buy for the price, and smaller loads take considerably less time than the stated time for the programme, so it's quite energy efficient. It's not the Rolls Royce of washing machines, but still recommended. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by N Thompson on 11/04/2008 I bought this product for my daughter November 2007, With three children i thought the 7kg load and 1600 rpm spin would be very useful, I was not wrong it's not missed a beat since multiple washes every day, Good one Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by TCJ on 15/02/2008 Machine is a load of rubbish I will never buy Hotpoint again or Comets repair cover. Purchased from Comet FEB07 within 2 months it broke down. It took a week for the engineer to arrive. The belt had shreded and the engineer did not have parts another 4 days waiting till engineer and parts arrived. The machine broke down last week and yet again a week to the engineer arrives this time he brought belt as he was advised too by us. Comet's service is very poor. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by N H J on 04/02/2008 Pure junk is this washing machine. this one broke down within 4 weeks, shorted an entire room over and over. repair people took a week to come out. 2 weeks later F-08 and it is broken again. Really disgraceful Rating: ![]() Reviewed by K Evans on 28/11/2007 What a load of rubbish! Bought from Comet at the end of September'07 and brakes down 6 weeks later. According to the engineer " it's because they're made in Italy ". Am now into my second week waiting for the third of three parts that requires replacing. And with a young family the washing is just building up. Conclusion. Won't shop at Comet again, definately won't buy another Hotpoint. Not because they are made in Italy, but because they are RUBBISH! Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Andrea Foster on 17/11/2007 I'm very disappointed with this machine. It was installed on Mon 12th Nov.On the second wash the plug fused and I had to pull the machine out and replace the fuse, having first removed the dripping wet washing. On the third wash it took over three and a half hours to wash some bedlinen (on 30 degrees)and yesterday, after taking three hours to wash some towels(on 30 degrees), the error code F08 was displayed, so Hotpoint are supposed to be coming out to it next week.Quote from Hotpoint, "It's a tiny electrical fault........" There is a display which is supposed to show the time to the end of the wash cycle, but as I learned from the instruction book, the time can go up as well as down while the machine is washing, so you have absolutely no idea when it's going to finish. In effect, the display is meaningless. It is quiet and doesn't walk round the kitchen when spinning, but otherwise it's pretty hopeless. I wish I hadn't bought it. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Margarita Morris on 09/02/2007 I'm very pleased with my Hotpoint WT761. The large capacity is great for a family, it washes well and spins thoroughly. Mostly I just use the 40 degree and 60 degree standard washes, but the quick wash is useful for small loads like cleaning cloths and I've also used the wool cycle which works well if the garmets really are woollen, but don't put it anything which is imitation wool. It's so much quieter than my old First Edition Hotpoint too. If there's a lot of other noise in the kitchen it's hard to hear the washing machine actually starting. You have to hold the button down for at least three seconds before it starts so if other appliances are going it's a good idea to watch and make sure that the washing machine has started washing and hasn't just locked the door, because you won't hear it over the sound of a dishwasher or extractor fan. I really like the digital display as well that tells me how much longer the cycle has left to run. I'm really glad I changed my old washing machine for this one - I should have done it sooner. Rating: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reviewed by Paul Langdon-Manning on 12-19-2006 We purchased our new Hotpoint WT761 through Sainsburys for £295 plus delivery. It took about a week to arrive, and were we glad when it did, no more trips to the laundrette! We unpacked it, removed the fixing bolts, the plastic from inside the drum and also then attached the plastic to the bottom of the washing machine to reduce noise when spinning. Having read the instructions, the first thing to do atfer installing is to do a 95 degree wash (and yes I remembered to switch on the cold water!). This done I washed some jeans in a 40 degree wash - YES they washed, no problems :-) My second wash however was a different story, a fault appeared on the digital display - F-07! So I phoned the hotpoint service team to hopefully be told a simple solution, yes! Switch off the machine and leave it for a couple of hours for the machine to get used to its surroundings. (the problem was dampness on the printed circuit board inside). About two and a half hours later I switched the machine back on at the plug and began a new wash at 40 degrees. New fault - F-08 - By this time the service centre was closed and I had to call the following day. The following day, Hotpoint told me that an engineer would have to come out and look at the machine. Great yet another days pay lost!!! So the engineer comes out a week later to tell us that the on-board computer was faulty and that he didn't have one to replace it! He advised us that the best option, rather than opening up and replacing parts on a new machine, was to order a new machine. Great, when will that be here, 'later today?' Nope, it will take yet another week and another day off!!!! Absolutely rubbish service on behalf of hotpoint, even though the fault was theirs I had to sort myself out around their time schedules :-( And don't even think about compensation (for time wasted and laundrette bills), as quoted by one of their team " I have never heard of Hotpoint compensating for anyone!!"
