I bought it in Febnruary 2009 and it broke down in June. The enginee came and had to replace the motherboard and reprogramme it. H said it happens all the time. I know 2 people who also have the machine and they have had it broken more than it has been working. It broke down again last night and i now have to face more waiting in for engineers and washing elsewhere. What happens when the guarantee runs out? Rating: Reviewed by Doug on 03/08/2009 Bought Hotpoint wmf740p in December 2008, great machine but last week wash was driping after completed wash/spin at 1400, i tried to spin again but found that the spin cycle did not reach max speed, i disconnected from mains for about 5mins then tried the spin cycle again still not reaching full speed. I phoned Hotpoint service and after explaining my problem i was advised to have an engineer this i agreed to, appointment made for monday 3aug, recieved phone call monday advising me of arival time, engineer arrived within the agreed time. He carried out a normal spin cycle and concluded that the problem was load balancing i asked if there should have been some indication of that he confirmed in some cases no. Engineer was very good he showed me parts of his engineers manuel refering to the above. One point to be aware of is that if NO FAULT is found the call is CHARGEABLE even though the machine is within the 12 mounth guarantee. I was not charged. Rating:
