Reviewed by Louise Parkin on 22/06/2008I have one of these machines. In reply to Wynn William's problem I found this info in the "Which" guide: "Most of us nearly always wash at 40 degrees.Although machines can wash effectively at low temperatures there are implications for your machine.Washing at a low temp all the time can allow grease or black mould to build up on the rubber door seal or in the detergent drawer. Some people have complained about musty smells from low temperature washes. Washing machine manufacturers recommend doing at least 1 wash a month at 60 degrees or higher. This temperature is good for cleaning towels and bedding as it removes dust mites and unwanted mould spores. Wiping round the rubber seal and in the detergent drawer with light bleach cleaners or sprays will also reduce problems. I think that the reduced water usage rate stops the efficient flushing of the system. Hotpoint couldn't give a monkeys, I have been in touch but they say we can't be using it correctly. We have been using ecover washing products - is this a sign they are not up to the job?
