Reviewed by Anne Murphy on 12/07/2009 DO NOT BUY this machine. I sit here surrounded by washing waiting once again for an engineer - this will be the 5th engineer visit in a couple of months, about the 30th since we bought the machine 2 years ago. The machine constantly breaks down, the thermostat has been replaced about 4 times as it overheats (A fire hazard in itself). The filter's been replaced several times as it constantly blocks. The drum has had to be replaced once - basically the whole machine has been replaced and STILL constantly breaks down. If you try to use any of the extra buttons alongside the programme buttons it freezes - helpfully the engineers have told us not to use these buttons so they're basically there to provide a nice light show when the machine freezes. We have also been told not to wash towels in it as the fluff blocks the filter. Also not to wash items that are too heavy - ie jeans as it makes the bearings to wrong. In other words we can't wash much IF it is working - which is rarely. Since buying this machine we've got to know the old lady at the local laundrette quite well - not something I expected. IF you're wondering why we've not just given up - we paid for an extended warranty - hotp oint nor comet will give us any refund for this, nor a new machine, even though several of the engineers that have come out have recommended a replacement so we're stuck. AVOID AT ALL COSTS - only rated it one as a zero is not an option Rating:
Reviewed by Kieron Bacquain on 03/12/2008 I have had this hotpoint WD420 washer dryer for two years and its going fine for me it all depends on how much you use it and how long the programs run if you DO NOT USE the tumble dryer on it it will last up to three times the original life it has. Reviewed by J Smith on 04/12/2007 Not good at all! Lost programme after 18 months so getting rid of it. On exteneded warrenty it took Hotpoint 3 months to replace the drum previously due to poor communication within staff, and cost £89.99 for them to solve the problem. Rating:
Reviewed by Carolyn McDermott on 12/10/2007 I've had a WD420g for just under 6 months, it has broken down for the 3rd time (different faults each time). I am not letting engineers come out for the 4th time, I am in process of getting a refund or exchange (preferrably a refund) Rating:
Reviewed by ian ferguson on 23/12/2006 After 7 months of very light use, the machine stopped drying and began throwing water out of the detergent tray during the wash cycle. An engineer found that the filter was blocked with dog hair. I was accussed of having 'washed something that I shouldn't have' but to save me being sent a bill for the call-out he'd put the fault down to another problem. I previously had the old Hotpoint aquarius for 12 years with no fault and no blocked filter ever. This machine is indesit rubbish and not hotpoint, there are countless reviews for this machine with dryer problems and blocking filters. Rating:
