Reviewed by susan simpson on 01/02/2012 Unfortunately had nothing but trouble since yr 1 of having this product bought in 2008, have had always thought very noisy, within the 1st year have had a new pump, circuit board and in 2010 new drum paddle. Often had dirt/oil marks on clothes and small holes appearing, today Feb 2012, machine almost went on fire, whilst on spin smoke was bellowing out of maching lucky we were in and managed to stop & disconnect the machine hate to think what could have happenned. We are still covered by the 5year parts only guarantee but obviously have to pay the large cost for an engineer to call out. Looks like the drum has totally come away from the motor. Unfortunately I do not want this machine repaired as far too scared to use this now will be taking this up with trading standards as Hoover/Candy can't do anything more than send out an engineer. Just a warning to you all that have this model do not leave on unattended and looking at the other reviews on this drum problems seem to be a very common occurance. Rating:

Reviewed by jts on 01/11/2011 My machine is about 3.5 years old. It had been noisy for a long period of time. Motor broke 1st time after 4 months take 2 weeks comet to come and repair the problem but thats not the end. The rubber seal was fraying and there was dirt/oil on clothes my withe cloths was damage I contact Comet again as I bought insurance for 5 years. Again need wait 13days just to have engeenering come and see he replace motor but also said different parts need be replace and he will order them he say will be around 1 week also he told me wash its ok to use then put my wash the noise was horrible the smell of burn rubbel more bad my cloths was black and smell really bad. Now im without wash for 6 weeks COMET didnt do nothing not contact repairs nothing at all im without wash for so long never mind I pay 5 years insurance I end up calling financial ombudsman who contact comet to deal with my repair they still dont have parts but they do not want give my different wash machine. Still without wash machine!!!!!! ABSOLUTE RUBBISH - DO NOT BUY Rating:
Reviewed by George on 11/06/2011 Had this machine as a replacement for a previously reliable Hoover which was 12 yrs old for 3.5 yrs. Heard a loud noise coming from the drum. I called c/s to see about having machine looked at only to be told £80 + labour charge, they then tried to sell me some other warranty for £14.50 pm for 12 months. Cost of new machine will be comparable so thought I'd look at the problem myself. The bearings are sealed into the drum so you can't fix it. Spoke to a trader who has been in the business for 30 odd yrs, he won't entertain Hoover products as there are always problems.......been that way since they were taken over by Candy.........he recommends buying Bosch or Siemens washers - abit most costly but better option in long run Rating:
Reviewed by peter on 06/05/2011 my last washing machine by hoover lasted 20 years so thought i'd buy this product, it worked ok for 2 years, but has started to spark on the final spin which apparently is a sign that new brushes are needed! hoover only supply parts free (under 5 yr parts guarantee) when their engineers are used, for which a fixed charge is over £100,almost half what i paid originally, i too have found customer services anything but. rather than risk spending money on continual repairs,it looks like i may end up buying a new machine, but certainly not hoover Rating:
Reviewed by Aisling on 18/04/2011 My machine is about 3 years old. It had been noisy but I didn't really notice as it is an external laundry room. The rubber seal was fraying and there was dirt/oil on clothes(?). I got on to Hoover Service and they gave me an appointment for the engineer to come out, a week later. They came today and the washing machine needs a new drum, outer casing and door seal. They put in an order for the parts today, which will take about 5 working days to arrive from UK ( I am in Southern Ireland). When the parts arrive and only then will they call me and book another day for their engineers to call, which could be another week. I asked, reasonabilly, why my appointment could not be booked in advance and if the part did not arrive it could be cancelled and they said it was just not possible..... This is crazy, to be without a working machine for 3+ weeks. I rang and suggested that they kept at least one or two larger parts in stock so that there would be no wait for transfer from UK, to be told they don't have a warehouse to hold parts. I then rang customer services in the UK to be told that this is the system there too. Someone at the top needs to review this as this is not good customer service. I will have to pay ¤110 for the repair as I am covered by the 5 year parts guarantee. Only for this I am getting it repaired but will never buy a Hoover again, not only because the machine is defective but because their customer care service is appalling. Rating:
Reviewed by Tom on 04/11/2010 I bought this machine in April 2008. Within 2 weeks the drive belt came off. When the Hoover engineer came to rectify this he had to change the drum drive wheel(he couldn't get the belt to stay on) and said that it appeared to be the wrong drive wheel that had been fitted during manufacture. Service from hoover on this occasion was prompt. The machine was noisy during fast spin and vibrated even with small wash loads from day one. The complete drum has now moved forward damaging the door seal, splitting the rear of the outer drum, cut through an earth wire and the drive belt has rubbed the insulation from one of the live wires to the motor exposing the live wire. This is the 4th Hoover washing machine I have purchased during the last thirty years. A new machine has been purchased. The new machine HAS NOT BEEN MANUFACTURED BY HOOVER. Not impressed with the reliability of this product. Rating:
Reviewed by JJ on 07/10/2010 Really, really surprised at all the negative reviews - so much so that I decided over three years after buying mine to put in a review. Mine has been fantastic - none of the problems listed. Yes, the rubber seal round the door does tend to collect a bit of residue, but nothing that can't be wiped off easily every few weeks - I've never found it has ended up back on my clothes and have never had to do a second wash. I do practically all my washes on 29mins 30 degree wash, which is super efficient and fine for all but heavily soiled clothes. The 1600 spin is great as I live in a flat and trying to dry really damp clothes can be a nightmare. Yes, items like cotton sheets come out creased at this speed, but they get creased at the best of times and a little extra ironing is fine by me if sheets are dry faster. I was so happy with my washer that I recommended Hoover to my parents (who bought a more fancy model) and they too are happy with theirs. Rating:
Reviewed by Geoff w on 26/09/2010 Enviromentally freindly my foot have to wash clothes 2 or 3 times . boil wash machine once a month and makes no differance. hoover dont give a monkeys . wont be buying another hoover product again. better off washing your clothes in the Thames river. Rating:
Reviewed by Jennifer S on 12/09/2010 Bought in 2008 and very disappointed.Washing comes out dirtier than when it went in.Am told by Hoover engineer to use only a small amount of detergent and to do a 90 degree wash every few weeks to get rid of build up of grease which seems to get trapped around door seal.Surely this defeats the object of being environmentally friendly. I never feel my washing is clean and fresh. Already had to have a new tub and drum which although I had Curry's "Whatever Happens"insurance took 3 weeks to repair. When I rang customer services to complain you just get passed from one department to another getting nowhere. Will definately NOT be buying Hoover again, as the daily 59 programme is not working now. Reviewed by Lesley Gill on 02/06/2010 This replaced my 10 year old BOSCH machine as I thought HOOVER was a top brand also.....how wrong I was! Very noisy machine & washing performance not great. Bought 14 months ago. This morning has completely flooded my kitchen due to a cracked drum (too expensive to repair). Like a previous review on here - I have learned that Hoover are made by Candy now! BUYER BEWARE Rating:
Reviewed by T jack on 02/03/2010 Sorry to say bought one in Feb 2008 and had nothing but pure inconvenience with it gone through 4 new door seals waiting a over a week at a time for hoover to come and replace lucky I took out insurance...BE WARNED PLEASE AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE..... Rating:
Reviewed by Rita B on 25/02/2010 Very unimpressed with this machine. Have had it for 2 years and has now flooded the kitchen as it has a large crack in the drum. The engineer who looked at it said it could have been a coin that caused or it may have been like that when it was installed and has just got worse over time. Either way not happy that we now have to pay for a call out charge as well as a new machine. He said this model is not manufactured by Hotpoint but a "badged" Candy machine, don't know whether that is true or not but obviously wouldn't recommend this machine. Rating:
Reviewed by Bernie W on 14/02/2010 Right from the very beginning of owning this machine I have washing come out dirtier than when it went in. Dirt seems to be trapped in the rubber seal of the door and is then transferred to the laundry during the spin cycle. Avoid this one! Rating:
Reviewed by Rosemary F on 29/11/2009 Very disapointed. Had machine 15 months now and it won't fill as pump continuously pumps the water back out and won't stop until switched off. Can't wash or rinse but can spin. Will not buy Hoover again. I'm having trouble getting a contact address to complain Rating:
Reviewed by Wendy P on 17/08/2009 i agree with others,DO NOT BUY this machine. mine is 18mths old now and has been trouble since 6mths old. it has an intermittent prob which behaves when the engineer comes. One load does fine, and the next only washes. as soon as it needs to spin, the machine vibrates so violently it almost escapes from my laundry room! Ob a unbalance prob but why not always? i don't overload it or load up any differently each time. The vibes have shaken off the connections to the motherboard twice and my son re connected them.Tried reducing spin speed but do difference. Now it won't spin at all so I am replacing it and it won't be with another hoover. Rating:
Reviewed by Sarah TS on 17/07/2009 Stay away from this model, Ive had two machines now which have broken down three times, 1st machine was binned before Id even used it. the second has had a new thermostat and also now looks like it needs a new mother board as the door connection has blown. Stay away Rating:
Reviewed by K Kelly on 21/07/2008 Purchased this machine on 12th April 2008 and on 10th June 2008 the machine flooded the kitchen due to a crack in the drum. We also found the machine noisy and does vibrate when spinning at 1600. This could be the reason for the cracked drum??? Customer service from Hoover is very poor and despite being in contact with them since 10th June we have still not resolved the issue. I would not recommendd this model. Rating:
Reviewed by james butler on 21/05/2008 Bought this machine it is very quiey once i put a spirit level on and got thing level, my floor is not the straightest, only problem is some of the cycles are over 3 hours long and once started can not be stopped, plus there is no information given regarding the time lengths Rating:
Reviewed by s gregory on 14/04/2008 Bought this washing machine in february when spinning it is very noisy. At 1600 and 1400 spin speeds it vibrates that much that things fall off the work surface above.Clothes come out very creased even at the 1200 and 1000 spin speeds than i am having to use. This washer seems to spin fast inbetween the cycle so this may cause the creasing.I read up on this model before i bought it and the reviews were saying quiet machine. My last machine a hotpoint was very good apart from the bearings going but this machine sounds just as noisy as the hotpoint with the noise from the bearings.I would not buy this model i am very dissapointed.
