Reviewed by Jodie on 29/04/2012 Broke down just after the warranty had ended. Hoover wouldnt offer anything and i ended up taking a policy out to get it repaired. Programme had failed. Had machine repaired, broke down again after a couple of weeks. All fine for ten months and now a programme has gone again, luckily just within my years policy. An engineer came out and repaired the machine but a week later it has broken again. Will not be purchasing another Hoover machine. Rating:
Reviewed by Liz Munro on 13/03/2012 I have had this for 3 years, engineer was out when it was less than year old for new circuit board??, now paddle has broken, last night wouldnt drain, stripped out filters blah blah all in all very poor machine, very noisy, leaves black marks on clothes and sometimes a smell off it, will keep it going till i can afford another one, DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE THEY ARE RUBBISH !!!!!!!!!! Rating:
Reviewed by DK on 28/02/2012 Did not even last 3 years!!! Clothes often left with strange black marks on them. Spin very noisy. After service guaranteed free parts for 5 years- but to get free part need to sign up for service contract for 12 months. Thats not free in my book!!! Rating:
Reviewed by Rectan01 on 15/11/2011 Hoover was well renown for high quality products...BUT in this case this machine didn't last me three year and it was very noisy as well. Rating:
Reviewed by 27-teddy on 01/11/2011 I bought this Hoover washing machine from Argos a couple of years ago. I had problems with the machine from very early on with black stains marking clothes and the programme not commencing properly, (some days it takes me hours to get the machine to actually wash anything). Worst purchase I've ever made, shouldn't be allowed to sell such poor quality. Rating:
Reviewed by Jane on 18/09/2011 I have had problems from this machine since the second week of buying it when a coin got stuck in the drum, smashing the plastic paddles...of all the machines that i have owned,i have never known things to get inside the drum so easily! The bearings then went so i had a new drum fitted...it doesn`t rinse the washing properly, leaving a horrible residue over the laundry....the powder draw is black and the holes where the water comes through is covered in black, mold,i`m constantly having to pull out the draw to try and clean it! I could rant on and on about this pile of rubbish, but i have wasted enough time with it already....i now have to go and buy another machine and it will NOT be a Hoover and i would NEVER recommend this machine to my worst enemy!! Reviewed by Donna on 04/08/2011 My machine is just over two years old and within the last seven months I have had three (Yes three) complete drums, two programme switches and a new motor. I am so glad I took out a repair plan for this machine. Even the repair plan company have said enough is enough and they are going to replace it with another make and model. DONT BUY THIS MACHINE WITHOUT A REPAIR PLAN!! Rating:
Reviewed by wayne on 15/02/2011 this machine has had problems from very early on-within the first year!first off, the heater wires vibrate with the drum on fast spin causing them to bend very rapidly and then snap. this has happened twice now and i have fixed the problem by using shrink sheathing over the connectors and along the first 30mm of wire. the paddles are very poor quality and are forever coming loose.somehow also, items get in between the plastic drum housing and the drum and stay in there and get rusty, causing washing to come out less clean than when it went in!! also, bearing seal went causing water to be contaminated with bearing grease and re-enter the drum, causing dirty, greasy washing.the one good thing that i can honestly say for this machine is that it is very easy to pull apart and work on. i have done all my own work on this m/c and at the moment it works fine. overall, i will never buy another hoover washing machine and will not recommend to anyone i know. Reviewed by Sarah on 09/12/2010 I'm currently waiting for my machine to be seen by an engineer for the fifth time since it's original installation in Feb 09. The first visit was within four months of purchase and has been a regular requirement ever since. Programmes don't work, the belt has slipped off, paddle been replaced etc. All in all, a poor performance for a washing machine that's still in it's youth. Hoover have been unhelpful unless I pay £110 for a call out - I would happily pay this if I thought that would fix it once and for all. Sadly, I have my doubts so contacted the seller, Currys. They have agreed to either pay for the call out or contribute a sum towards a replacement. Had I been more tenacious within the 12 month warranty then I'm sure A full replacement would have been available. I note an earlier comment advising you to purchase from John Lewis so I will take this on board. To surmise, Currys have been good but this machine and Hoover customer service has been atrocious. Reviewed by Jill on 06/12/2010 Totally useless machine. Had machine for 18 months the bearings had to be replaced, took Hoover 4 weeks to sort it out.10 months later am now ready to take a hammer to it, at first the program decided "to drop its brain" engineers term not mine, had it reprogrammed but to no avail it still carried on doing its own thing, had a new program fitted but guess what it worked for half an hour and this time the belt came off had to wait a week for an engineer to come out and replace it. Had belt replaced put my 3rd load in now the machine only fills with water and drains, no sound of a motor or anything. And to top it all have been told today (after waiting in for the engineer nearly 4 hours )that hes not coming to fix it.Not the sort of thing you want to hear after two weeks of not being able to wash your clothes, would'nt mind so much if the engineer had sorted it out the first time but since hes suppost to have fixed it it does'nt work at all. Reviewed by Zoe on 03/11/2010 Rubbish performance from the outset. Worst washing machine I've had. Don't even consider buying it. The programme dial doesn't work properly, it starts a different programme from the one selected. The filter is awful to use when you have a problem, water goes all over the floor, and when the drum is full, there's alot of water. Washing results are inconsistent. It's very noisy. I will never have any 'hoover' appliance again. Rating:
Reviewed by gabe on 08/10/2010 Only had it about eighteen months, motor is bust, programmes don't work. Absolutely terrible. Shame my last hoover lasted nearly ten years, different model. This one is RUBBISH! Rating:
Reviewed by Martin on 07/08/2010 Poor quality, noisy engineer said belt had not been tightened properly on manufacture (this was within month of purchase). Programmer does not respond to program selected. It constantly discharges water down the drain during cycle. Not economical as unreliable & will not wash on the program you select. Don't bother with this machine, sadly we read argos reviews before purchasing this machine & their customers seem luckier! Dreadful product that was problems from the start & not built to last even a year. Rating:
Reviewed by Jackie on 11/06/2010 I have had this machine for 2 years and I can't think of anything positive to say about it. Problems such as electrical connections were unconnected from the start , the belt kept coming off, intermitant wash program problems with the laundry coming out dirtier than when it went in and the machine always sounds like it is labouring even with a small load. Reviewed by paul on 16/03/2010 not very good broken after 15 months and have heard of many more with the same problem. would not recomend to anyone! poor show for a britsh company but sounds about right now days!!! good bless the queen. Rating:
Reviewed by Andrew on 11/02/2010 We were really happy with this machine for the first 10 months then it started to vibrate on the spin cycle, two Hoovercare engineer's visit's later and it needs a new drum because the bearings have got hot and melted the plastic housing in the drum - no parts available so after some moaning to Hoover they are replacing it with an equivalent Candy model, when this machine works it is great - I think we were just unlucky with this one maybe it was assembled on a Friday afternoon - reviews elsewhere give this machine 8.7 out of 10 on a sample of 300+ reviews - not too shabby so I would take the other posts here with a pinch of salt. Regarding Hoovercare cover expect to wait 4-5 days for a visit and if it needs parts that are not on the van you will wait another week for them to be fitted (if you are lucky) bear this in mind if you go for an extended warranty. If I was starting again I think I would buy a John Lewis machine (Zanussi based) with a 3 year warranty as standard. Rating:
Reviewed by David on 16/05/2009 Bought in November 2008 through Comet. First engineer's call in December. Second one booked today. Dreadful machine and I echo that said below. PS Comet are v tricky as they have some weird sub-contract thing going on with Hoover and the wait times for an engineer are awful. Will avoid both next time. Rating:
Reviewed by gail on 02/04/2009 forget it. Intelligent wash system it isn't. The 1600 spin speed is misleading as every programme spins at speeds much lower than this and the result is very wet washing. the only way to achieve a 1600 spin is to put it on a seperate spin cycle. This adds 15 mins extra time to your wash cycle and only works occasionally. if you try to use the the spin only cycle regularly it just sulks and refuses to do anything. Also has to be turned off at the end of every wash. this might not sound like a big deal but try explaining the mysteries of the average washer to your 19 year old son!! I am now in the process of having my very old Zanussi repaired and I will offload this piece of technological tat to the first moron willing to give me anything near the price I paid for it :) Rating:
