Reviewed by kumar on 04-10-2005 I have just brought a second hand dyson CR01 memory from ebay for #465. I soon realised that the contra rotation does not work. rang dyson . they say it will cost #85 no matter what the problem is. when the engineer came he says it needs a new drum but I will be charged # 225 instead of #85 as i was not the original owner.I was very upset and did not take up the offer. Reviewed by Janet Bostock on 08-02-2004 I have been extremely disappointed with the Dyson CR01 Memory Washing Machine. I purchased my machine in January 2001 and hoped that the high price would also mean high quality and high reliability. Unfortunately I was disappointed in both areas. The Dyson machine does not wash clothes as well as previous 'ordinary' machines I've had - whites are definitely grey-white; and the contra-rotation means that any garment which is slightly worn may well end up damaged (sometimes quite severely). Fault codes displayed by the machine are not explained, and Dyson service centre staff will not give out any details of what they mean - the only choice you have when faced with this situation is to pay for a Dyson-trained engineer call-out (approx #85 per time). After having to call out an engineer five times in two years I would have been much better saving my money and buying a new (non-Dyson) washing machine. The Dyson CR01 (which has cost me approximately #1700 over just three years) is now sitting in my garden shed awaiting collection by a scrap dealer - I've replaced it with a basic Zanussi model (which only cost me #270)!
