Reviewed by Alan Simpson on 26/04/2012 Had ours for 10 years and apart from a £60 bill to fix the lock/latch mechanism, it's never let us down, despite being used each and every day for a family of 4 Rating:
Reviewed by David on 21/11/2011 Hotpoint is rubbish!. I moved into a house where the kicthen appliances were all hotpoint. the washing machine broke down after a few months and were replaced (by a Miele, superb) the fridge freezer door are not staying closed. the kitchen extractor makes noise but that's about it the dish washer have been repaired three times but has still managed to destroy the kitchen counter by constantly steaming it. So, do yourself a favor and DON'T buy hotpoint Rating:
Reviewed by kevin Sharp on 10/05/2011 i have had my machine for about 10 years now. and with 3 kids it has took a battering ha ha. but had almost no trouble apart from the brushes on the motor needing replaced a few years ago. but that's just normal wear and tear. would recommend one of these machines to anyone. mine has been top notch. Reviewed by Wendy Forster on 10/09/2010 NEVER buy Hotpoint. I have a 2 year old Hotpoint Fridge Freezer broken down. The compressor went and that is a major part. Engineer came out and fit a new compressor. After 30 minutes fridge freezer broken down again. Hotpoint told me that if I paid for the extended warranty (another £200) that they would REPLACE the fridge freezer if it went again. Guess what, they are sending out an engineer for a THIRD time to try and fix it. Not only do they sell rubbish, they tell lies! Rating:
Reviewed by colin on 15/04/2010 outstanding machine over 8 years old finally given up on me used every day almost. Never had a problem despite 2 house moves. Rating:
Reviewed by rob on 11/02/2010 Compared to other washing machines, especially german and japanese brands this HOTPOINT WMA10 is very noisy and vibrates vigorously. I own a hotpoint fridge-freezer and cooker and sadly they too are going the same way as the washing machine..BREAKDOWN! Fair to say I won't be buying from hotpoint again. Rating:
Reviewed by Jason on 30/11/2009 I was nervous about replacing a 20 year old Zanussi, but bought this WMA10 reconditioned with warranty 3 years ago. The motor and bearings had been replaced prior to purchase, and it needed a new door spring. The main cycles do take a long time but theres a quick wash and the drum is large enough to take a super kingsize summerweight 4.5 duvet. I like the wide opening door and the quality of the wash overall. The warranty company was a dissapointment though so stand your ground and insist on a good service. Should be some real bargains on recon units as mine has been so shop around the local outlets. Rating:
Reviewed by T Smith on 09/11/2009 Ours has just given up the ghost! After easily 8-9 years of hassle free service (other than the occasional stuck sock or wedged coin). Considering the price that we bought it for & the length of service, and considering it was working at least once every day of its life, I think we got our moneys worth. Rating:
Reviewed by johnnie pakington on 27/08/2009 do not buy hotpoint or particularly the extended warranty. they are contracted to replace parts but not the machine so you have to wait for an engineer (if he turns up) after the 7th repair I'm now junking the machine and buying another brand. Rating:
Reviewed by V Booth on 08/07/2008 Purchased a WMA 10 in Oct 2000, still running well and has caused no problems. Wash cycles are long compared to earlier models Rating:
Reviewed by J Smalley on 12-06-2005 Cost #379 from Comet in 2002. The drum, I was told is a design fault, broke down recently. Cost #89 for a repair. The drum is still unusable. Asked for another call out from a very unsympathetic telephonist. I don't believe it was repaired the first time. We will see what happens this time. I will not buy Hotpoint again and I will spread the word. Rating:
Reviewed by Kevin Russell on 15-03-2005 Different problem Than you people. My machine doesn't pump enough water into the drum to wash the contents properly. The entire wash cycle takes forever, with a good proportion of the time going on the rinse. It's a rinsing machine. Rubbish. Rating:
Reviewed by Justin on 21-10-2004 Seems a common problem. Main bearings can go very quickly. Interrogating the Hotpoint engineer and other repairers it seems like a design fault in many cases - may have been rectified in 2003 - I don't know. Has 5 year parts guarantee, but you have to pay £90.00 for the repair! You can bargain Hotpoint down to £49.00 though. Probably would be found as not fit for purpose. I will be writing to Hotpoint. Reviewed by Les Potter on 25/08/2004 This washing machine should be taken off the market! It's simply rubbish, Hotpoint have gone down the pan. My machine was ok for the 1st 12 Months then after 13 Months the seal went, the engineer said this was a common problem & would go again in the near future. 2 Months later the seal went again. Another 2 weeks after this the ball bearings failed & as well as the seal, & was told to give up on it! Rating:
Reviewed by Teresa on 22-02-2004 I agree with Vince. Bought my Hotpoint WMA10 May 01. Did not have more than a couple of months trouble free use out of it. Ball bearing went, it didn't spin properly, it didn't empty properly. It has now given up the ghost altogether and has been replaced by a second-hand Servis washing machine (B#33 including delivery) which, although seven years old, is washing rinsing and spinning better than the Hotpoint ever did. Guess what washing machine I will and wont be buying next time!!!!! Rating:
Reviewed by Vince on 07-12-2003 Only had this machine for 2 years and it makes a terrible noise, also leaking now aswell. Rubbish washing machine. Rating:
