Reviewed by G DAVISON on 20/03/2012 Dont buy!!!dont accept if gift wrapped!. Over the top? This machine has had a Domestic and General warranty and has been repaired nine{9}times in 5 years! Ive only kept it going because it was expensive in the first place,im now hopefully getting it exchanged as they admit the amount of repairs is getting extreme! Rating:
Reviewed by Chris on 02/01/2012 Possibly best washer/dryer around. Quiet, economical & sensor dry is first class for a condensor dryer - a little alarming at first when you see 2hr 30mins displayed, but then sensor re-adjusts this to around 1hr 30 for a load of towels, which is not much past our old 'E' rated dryer. Plus you get 2yrs warranty & 5yrs parts! Rating:
Reviewed by STEVEN J HARRIS on 03/10/2011 Do i need to add anymore to all these reviews, just a heap of junk stay clear of this model or if your like me never let a hotpoint product get past the front door. Rating:
Reviewed by Nadz on 29/07/2011 First had this machine 2005...it broke down after first use of dryer, needed engineer vusits every other week due to new and ongoing probs, leaked and ruined my wooden floor. Battled for 2 years to get a replacement. Replaced by insurers but no comoensation for damaged floor or 2 years worth of hassle. New machine lasted till niw with a few breakdowns. Stopped working this week, filling with water even when off. Dryer always been rubbish now fills with water during drying! Dont buy this Rating:
Reviewed by MAX on 30/09/2010 GOT THE SIMILAR WD 860 MODEL . GOOD MACHINE WHEN IT WORKS FOR THE FIRST YEAR THEN F13 FAULT OCCURS DUE TO BUILD UP OF FLUFF ETC WHICH GETS HOTTER THAN NORMAL. NEAR THE HEATER THERMOSTATS . IT THEN SENDS A MESSAGE TO THE MACHINE SAYING SOMETHING IS BURNING TO THE MACHINE WHICH KNOCKS THE HEATER SYSTEM OFF. NO HOT WATER OR HOT AIR FOR DRYER. NEED TO REMOVE WHOLE TOP END OF HEATER BOX , CLEAN FULLY AND CHANGE THE TWO THERMOSTATS , APPROX £20 FOR BOTH. IT MAY HOPEFULLY WORK AGAIN !! Rating:
Reviewed by housecat on 12/06/2010 I'll never buy another hotpoint appliance. Super-silent? Like a helicopter in the flat. The dryer stopped working pretty much the day after the warranty expired. The drum paddle sheared off and needs replacing - as a single person, I don't even use the machine that often. I also hate the digital display - what value does this actually add? A plea to all appliance manufacturers: analogue/mechanical trumps unnecessary computerised electronic bits every time. Rating:
Reviewed by danny on 16/05/2010 Had mine 3 years. heating stoped working lcd screen stoped working its leaked so badly, our kitchen was destroyed and has cot me thousands. it was very quiet at first, now it sounds like a jet engine! Rating:
Reviewed by McDougall on 07/01/2010 Bought my wd865 2004 ... horrendous machine !!!! suppose to be super quiet .... ha ha dont make me laugh.. its the noisest machine ever!! Its broken done more times than i can imagine and cost a fortune .... The leak that people talk about comes from the trap being full but you have to take the back of the machine to bits to get to it .. and its usually a sock thats went done it ... now im stuck cos i bought the fridge/freezer to match it as they are next to each other .. now what!! hotpoint are rubbish think ill buy another zanussi :-) Rating:
Reviewed by GHC on 03/01/2010 We had this machine for only one year before the display faded so much you couldn't see what cycle you had chosen. Luckily we knew the cycle off by heart so we could still use it. That is until it started leaking about 3 months after that - from both the dispenser and from around the door. And not just a few drips - it runs right across the kitchen floor! We bought this from the Comet outlet at Wembley where there were several recently repossessed/returned/reconditioned machines of the same model for sale. This begs the question - why so many of the same model?? Obviously a few problems with this one - should have been more wary! I don't know about y'all, but am I the only one who thinks a major appliance should last more than 3 years without falling apart? Let alone the standard 18 months that seems to be the norm for this one. Rating:
Reviewed by t bqiley on 09/07/2008 I have had this washer/dryer for 18 months. The spin cycle when it works sounds like a jet engine. F13 fault happens on the wash , spin and rinse cycle.I cannot turn off the machine anymore has f13 on all the time. Hotpoint are not intrested it appears to be a common fault on this machine. Mine has gone to the tip today. I would never again buy an hotpoint Rating:
Reviewed by James Webber on 15/04/2008 I have had this model washing machine WD865A for 18 months. It has failed on many occasions F13 fault is common (every 2-3 months ) This machine has seen service engineers 5 times and now it is out of warranty I feel I will have to ditch it. I will not be able to afford the service costs. Very poor Italian engineering! I thought I was buying British quality. DO NOT BUY. It does run quietly though and more so when it develops the repeating F13 fault..... Rating:
