Reviewed by dan on 29/03/2008i bought this washer dryer about a year and a half ago. I was pleased with it initially but it never seemed to be able to dry properly. Now it is very noisy when spinning and has started announcing the error message f - 13. no mention of what this means in the manual. When it occurs you have to cut the power to it as the on/off button and cancel button fails also. Upon powering up again it's as if nothing happened. In case this hasn't put you of already then i'll spell it out - DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE FAULTY MACHINES! Even tho it does look nice... Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Julie on 03/03/2008 On 31st December 2007 we had Hotpoint WD860G Ultima #1 delivered, on connecting it up and setting it to a full wash as per the manual directions a curious flashing F-10 error code appeared on the LCD screen. 15 minutes getting through to Hotpoint revealed that this was a manufacturing error, and that we would be totally unable to use the machine. 10 days later on 10th January machine #2 was delivered, this time it seemed to work ok but the door sensor to activate the lock was extremely temperamental. By "temperamental" read: had to be slammed multiple times to lock at all, even if it had "clicked" shut, would not lock at all if set to a time delayed start, would often relock after unlocking at the end of a cycle. After 3 weeks of battling with the door lock I called in an engineer - a Hotpoint engineer. He spent well over an hour faffing about with the door, took it totally to bits, made disconcerting comments about how the catch didn't fit into the slot it was supposed to, and actually whittled it down to try to make it fit better! He left me with a warning that the door seal might not actually be water tight anymore and said he'd come back the following week with spare parts. Needless to say more calls were made to Hotpoint, and machine #3 was delivered 5 days later on 13th February 2008. To be fair the delivery man from Hotpoint was very nice, but they had sent me the wrong model - one from quite a way down the range that lacked several features I needed. More calls to Hotpoint and 9 days later on 22nd February 2008 machine #4 was delivered and connected by Hotpoint. Part way through the first cycle a bright flashing F-18 error code came up. The machine sat half full of water with the drum steadfastly refusing to turn in my kitchen. More calls to Hotpoint and exasperated points made that I WOULD NOT be left without a working machine again, and a Senior Hotpoint engineer was looking at it some 20 minutes later. The F-18 fault was a communication error between the electrical board and the motor - again presumably a manufacturing error. The engineer got it working, but on calling Hotpoint again to further discuss the stream of problems and to have a new non faulty machine ordered I was informed that having had an engineer "fix" it that we were not allowed a replacement machine regardless of it being brand new. We were refused access to discuss our complaint with a supervisor or manager, and customer services were unreasonable, unfair, and by the end of the call extremely rude. I went back to Appliance Deals, where we had purchased the machine from, and they took the issues back to Hotpoint on our behalf. Apparently Hotpoint were equally unreasonable with them resulting in them having to seek advice from Consumer Direct. We have been advised to take an exchange for a washer dryer from a different manufacturer. If I could I would actually rate this machine and Hotpoint in general at about -5! Even one of their delivery drivers admitted that the machines are not a patch on what they used to be since Indesit bought out the company. We are now looking into getting a Zanussi, I will NEVER buy from Hotpoint again. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Adelina Chalmers on 04/12/2007 We bought on 10th October 2007 the HOTPOINT WD860G ULTIMA 1600 washer drier from ASDA Electricals. Which was delivered on the 17th October. We requested an engineer from HOTPOINT (as on the appliance it said to call this number in case things go wrong with it) as it had a horrible banging noise when it was spining at 1600 rpm and he came on the 23rd October. He ordered a new one in - as he said he could not repair it. The 2nd washer drier came on the 31st October. This one had exactly the same problem as the 1st one! We called an engineer again - he did not look at it properly, so he said it was nothing wrong with it. I had to argue with a HOTPOINT Customer Service representant over the phone to send a different engineer out. The second engineer came and after careful examination requested himself from HOTPOINT a new washer-drier. The 3rd one was meant to be delivered on 28th November, they called earlier that morning to say the delivery was not going to go through as they ha d some problems, but they would call to re-arrange. They re-arranged it for today - 4th December. This morning the delivery came and... brought a physically broken washer-drier! I did not sign for any delivery paperwork, as they re-installed my previous washer drier and now I am awaiting for a 4TH washer drier to be delivered, I have now (as I am writing) been waiting for 10 minutes on the phone to get through and to be told that the number for replacing the washer drier the delivery man gave me IS WRONG and had to call another one! I have just been answered the phone, they said they can not deliver another washer drier today as promised and they won't let me speak to the Manager either! Thank you Rating: ![]()
