Reviewed by Gigi on 30/06/2008Broken seals, broken plastic lifters, blocked filter that you can't access, knackered electronics, dead heater element and just recently an internal leak that went all over the motor and destroyed that. And it's less than three years old. To be fair, our machine is on much of the time, but without the extended warranty we'd be stuffed. I'm thinking of giving the engineer his own key. We stupidly bought a Hotpoint Fridge Freezer too - two years old and heading for the scrapheap. (Both machines made in Britain). Avoid Hotpoint like the ebola virus. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by reda korichi on 28/06/2008 i had one for 9month only £400 stop completely after wards Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Nouvelle on 18/05/2008 The Hotpoint WD440 - keep well away from this spaceship!! I purchased this piece of junk just under a year ago and within 6 months, it started doing its own thing. For example, when you put it on the hand wash/wool setting, the machine starts 'jumpin around'. As for the drying cycle - don't start me on this!?! Clothes that I've put on the drying cycle for an hour and half or more come out nappy wet. Sometimes, after about 5mins into the drying cycle, the drum stops moving and all the lights on the dashboard start flashing!!! If anyone's out there - DO NOT BUY! Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Ronan T on 13/05/2008 I have just spent a couple of hours searching on line for a solution to Hotpoint WD440 dryer that tumbles but doesn't produce any heat and all I have found are angry people with the same problem. Advice to anyone looking at a Hotpoint appliance......DONT BUY ONE....save the call out fees and buy something else. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by mich on 09/04/2008 My God!! I have NEVER had to have the repair man out so may times with one machine. I have finally given up and gone back to my old favourite Zanussi. Dryer problems MANY times, loose parts ripping clothes (always the best ones, of course).....fluff building up in the dryer which only an engineer can fix (at a cost of nearly £90), leaks, causing my laminate floor to peel- to name but a few - and it's less than 5 years old. I have had enough - would never buy another Hotpoint EVER!! Rating: ![]() Reviewed by jim . s on 08/03/2008 tumble dryers a joke , it simply doesnt do its job lowest setting = 30mins on low heat this is equal to re soaking you garments for 1 hour in cold water and wearing highest setting = 1.5 hours on high heat this is equal to hanging your clothes outside in drizzle for 20 mins and wearing it is possible to get a pair of jeans bone dry ready to wear straight out the machine to do this you will need to do one of two things - 1st run max setting 4 times 2nd put jeans in machine dowse in petrol and set light to it you may have noticed your jeans are wrecked but you feel strangely satisfied with the state of your hotpoint . Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Ryan on 18/02/2008 The dryer ceased to function after only having it for 4 months. The washer aspect works great, although it is noisy. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Francis Burton on 03/02/2008 In 12 months i have never had a machine break down as much, a motor in the the dryer, the pump twice, and now the plastic things inside the drum have fell off. a poorly made machine stay away you will be wasting your money. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Louise Q on 06/01/2008 I have had this Washer/Dryer for 18 months and its useless!! Had an engineer out twice for the same problem(the lights on the front panel flash like a fruit machine and the machine stops in between cycle!!). I needed an engineer called out the third time with the same problem as before but Hotpoint now want you to pay up front for the callout over the phone (£100!) and they say they will refund you if it is the same problem they fixed during the last callout... The engineers will have to be very honest indeed, otherwise they could quite easily tell me its blah blah blah gone wrong now! In short- DONT BUY ONE!!! Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Lee Ketteringham on 21/12/2007 We have had this machine for 18 months now and had 7 callouts. The first thing that went was the heating element for the dryer. Luckily we took insurance out and so they replaced free of charge. One month later it burnt out again. So they replaced it. Three months later it burnt out again. So they replaced it. Last week we heard a huge bang and the engineer told us that the pump. motor, main programmable board and an Eeprom had blown up. So they replaced them. That was yesterday. This morning one of the cold water hoses has ruptured and flooded our kitchen. Stay well clear if you dont want your life ruined. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Tim S on 24/10/2007 This so-called washer-dryer is a complete pile of rubbish. It has been installed in our holiday cottage for 2 years, and has only been used about 5 times - in between constantly breaking down. Hotpoint customer service is completely unsympathetic to our nightmare, and I refuse to constantly pay £89 for an engineer call out. I have discovered that the 'option' buttons on the front panel have a habit of sticking in when pressed, which causes the electronics to malfunction. Hotpoint will not accept responsibility. Moral of the story - never, never, never buy a Hotpoint (Indesit) product if you want a quiet life. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by RW on 21/09/2007 What a pain. Washes clothes well, but the filter is situated at the back of the machine and needs an engineer to come out to empty the filter. It will be blocked by the tiniest things and a call out costs £89! I have had 5 call-outs in one year. Thank goodness I bought the extended warranty. I wish I'd forked out extra in the first place and bought a Miele. Please do yourself a favour and don't buy this machine. This is the first product review I've ever posted, so it must be bad! Rating: ![]() Reviewed by P Henry on 31/08/2007 Avoid at all costs. Dryer is totally useless. Instructions state must only wash with full loads which take forever. 3 callouts in less than one year due mostly to dryer which still does not function. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by CRIS PILE on 18/07/2007 Wish I had never bought this machine. very noisy, unable to carry on a conversation in the same room when on high spin speed! poor dryer Rating: ![]() Reviewed by colin holroyd on 25/06/2007 worst machine i have ever owned, always breaking down, hotpoint service next to useless, will not be buying any more hotpoint products. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Ron Blackburn on 16/06/2007 Worst Machine we have ever owned. Noisy, constantly breaking down, takes ages to wash and dryer is next to useless. We will never buy Hotpoint again after our experiences with this machine. Machine has now broken down again and is going for scrap after only 18 months. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Angela Stanley on 24/04/2007 Extremely noisy. Heater assembly replaced twice in first year, once again 2 months after guarantee ran out. Replacement refused, despite several other breakdowns in first year.Go for more expensive brand if you can afford it! Rating: ![]()
