Reviewed by Claire Cox on 18/12/2009 Please see my review 11/11/09 here I am writing again after having another repair 17/11/09 on 12/12/09 black smoke poured out of it had to call the fire brigade still they sent out another engineer who said he could repair it after a heated conversation with Hotpoint customer services insisting on a repair and me telling them I wanted it replaced (also breaking down in tears due to sheer stress of the past 10 months)they finally agreed they could offer me a BHWD129 when phoning for my replacement they didn't have that it stock (what a joke) but luckily for me I could choose any appliance from Comet after having to pay an extra £185.00 I have decided to buy Bosch. All in all this has been a very expensive mistake on buying a HOTPOINT appliance £599 initially £70, to Domestic & General, around £200 in wages, god knows how much the telephone calls that I've made amount to, letters, ruined clothes, probably deteriorating my laminate floor and wooden worktop by the steam and water, wasted electricity the list is endless. But the stress of it all is the worst. Rating:
Reviewed by frank tudor on 03/12/2009 The Hotpoint BWD 129 must be the worst washer dryer on the market. After the washer drier developed a fault and by paying Hotpoint £100 the 8 visits by a Hotpoint engineer has resulted in the drier being as bad as ever. As the other reviewers have written before-Please do not throw your money away by buying this machine -utter rubbish !!! HOTPOINT hang your heads in shame!!! Rating:
Reviewed by KPM. on 23/11/2009 had nothing but trouble with this product from new ,indication lights come on indiscriminatly and corrected only by slamming the loader door turning the mains on and off etc etc.all in all a totaly useles machine. Rating:
Reviewed by Claire Cox on 11/11/2009 BEWARE DO NT EVER BUY FROM HOTPOINT MODEL BWD129 Had this machine for 16 months and it has broken down 6 times now engineer keeps coming out repairing that and then something else goes wrong, cycle c went into dryer mode when not set couldn't touch machine due to the temperature, steam and water coming out of machine both these faults needed me to turn off at mains if i hadn't been home god knows what i would have come home to kitchen, dryer doesn't work at all now, creases cloths beyond recognition, shrinks them, belts got loose 2 times, Hotpoint Customer services should be ashamed of themselves not their problem according to them even had a Manager make out she couldn't hear me and put the phone down hasn't rung me back, no-one seems to want to take responsibility for this machine, Hotpoint just says that it's down to Domestic & General who I have taken the insurance out with which i felt i had to otherwise a ten minute call out would have cost me £99 Also engineer told me I shouldn't be using the machine when not in the house never heard or bought so much rubbish in my Life. Reviewed by lee on 08/11/2008 Great machine.. but with regards to paddles coming out the one and only reason for this is coins or other foreign objects in your pockets these break of the lugs-CHECK POCKETS and you will not have broken paddles 100% and this is fairly classed as customer neglegence/missuse.the one about machine moving out of its place im unsure how the feet BURNT off!and is obviously not installed correctly maybe a lack of diy skills... Reviewed by S Hurley on 22/07/2008 Hotpoint (Indesit are their parent company) will sell you their product through MFI and when the machine breaks, AND IT WILL, they will: A: Send an engineer out (at their convienience not yours). B: Tell you it must be your fault it's broken. C: Begrudgingly fix it (although this will take 4 visits - again at their convienience) D: The machine will break in exactly the same place (cheap plastic paddles that make the clothes tumble) in less than 3 months. E: They will insist that the warranty is out of date and that they will only send an engineer to look at the product if you pay them £104 UPFRONT!! Even though the parts they replaced are 3 months old and therefore technically still in warranty. Listen to those voices that tell you you'd be a mug to go anywhere near Hotpoint, Indesit and MFI. P.S. The fact that you have a 10 month old child that needs clean clothes ever day is somewhat of an irrelevnce to them. I'm still dealing with Trading Standards to try to sort this out. Rating:
Reviewed by Karen on 21/11/2007 Washing machine part is fine but the tumble dryer element of the machine is hopeless. Items get SO creased, come out boiling hot and ruined. We have stopped using the tumble dryer part of it so have basically paid for a washer/dryer but only have a washer. Definitely NOT recommended. Rating:
Reviewed by twish on 28/10/2007 This washer is possessed,we set it in its place under the worktop all piped up and ready to go so press start and 1 hr later after an awful lot of noise we returned to find the washer standing in the middle of the kitchen floor -spooky,also 2 of its feet had burnt out and left rubber marks on my white laminate floor,it obviously likes to dance-so-my hubby says get rid, i say it needs a serious stabling down somehow-anyone with any ideas please help,oh ps the door was not on it at the time thank goodness i hate to think! Reviewed by Sharron C on 19/06/2007 Seriously, PLEASE don't waste your hard-earned cash on this machine. It is hugely unreliable. I had my first replaced after only 1 month as it broke down, the replacement also broke down after 10 months - it took a month to repair. Then, only 10 days after warranty ended, it has failed again. It doesn't wash well, clothes are badly creased, and dried washing comes out scalding hot with an unpleasant smell. I'm going to buy a Miele again despite the high cost. Rating:
