Reviewed by annon on 17/01/2011 Unfortunately I have read the other comments AFTER buying this product and not before! I agree with all of them,my hoover has now completely died - I know it is not worth getting the engineer out and I have already replaced the wheels myself. Would not give it even 1 star - the front cover fell off with only the slightest knock and suction was very poor - I too grew to hate it! Rating:
Reviewed by Rob on 20/11/2010 I had the 1600w and the 1700w - both are rubbish - blocks itself up and filters requires washing and drying with tumble dryer / hair dryer unless you want to wait 24 hours to finish the cleaning. Try removing the sponge filter - this obviously then does not 'manage dust' anymore. Would give it 1 star for external design but no stars for it's internal design. Rating:
Reviewed by annon on 05/03/2008 This is an awful product. It cuts out after 10 or so mins of use due to an overheated motor. I have had the Hoover guy out twice now and he has confirmed this is the problem and they are prone to blockages. He said that this is due to a poor design and Hoover trying to rush out a product to compete with Dyson. Apparently I have to get the Hoover guy out for a third time before I can start the long and probably traumatic process of getting my money back from Comet. This third visit is a waste of my time and the engineer's as we know he cannot fix the problem. When he comes round the vacuum will work so I will get him to do my hoovering for 10 or so minutes and then it will cut out. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT AND DO NOT BUY FROM COMET. Rating:
Reviewed by Birgi Southampton. on 01/01/2008 Clare of Coventry is spot on. In addition my DM4499 has started to disintegrate. Rear wheels replaced,motor casing trunnion carrier has broken rendering the m/c virtually useless, the motor looses power for no reason and the turbo brush is worse than useless!This product may be suitable for very light use but in my experience not for the average pet owning household. Reviewed by Clare, Coventry on 04/12/2007 I don't think I'd even give it a 1* if I had a choice! Don't waste your money on this product. I have a labrador dog that tends to moult most of the year and so I use my vacuum cleaner most days. Using this hoover however I cannot clean the whole of my house without having to empty the small dust container about 4 - 5 times. Bearing in mind you are supposed to clean the filter after 5 empties and then leave it to dry for about 24 hours that puts the machine out of action every 2nd or third day!!! It also tends to topple over when you use the tools and the electric cord is not long enough. I hate it with a passion! Rating:
