I bought this for £40 about 3 years ago, and it has dealt exceedingly well with my german shepherd's long coat. It has just gone through months of house renovation, finally lost suction, the filters were so clogged that it was asphyxiating. £10 for 2 new filters later, which had I actually cleaned them during the renovations, would not have needed replacing; and it's working as good as new. So on top of not cleaning filters and overfilling the dust bin, it has also fallen down a flight of stairs. And still works. Couldn't recommend it more!
