Reviewed by F Rizos on 10/05/2010 Had a fuse blow within 2 momths of buying it. Talking to a friend who services these, the blown fuse is due to the dryer door not being closed properly, thereby sending the door closed switch into a frenzy. The little metal clips holding the door shut can bend easily, not a great design feature! So make sure door is closed by a quick hit top & bottom of door when closed, that should do it. Otherwise all seems fine with it. Rating:
Reviewed by A Simpson on 24/07/2009 In line motor supply fuse (6.3A) blew on mine after 14 months. Cost me £69 for Whirlpool engineer to replace it. The 8 year parts gaurantee I took out saved me the cost of the fuse which you can buy at Maplin for pennies. The engineer could offer no reason for the fuse to have gone other than he had seen this a number of times and on only one occassion the cause was attributable to a faulty motor. We do not overload the dryer or use it a great deal as there are only 3 of us in the house. Sounds to me as if Whirlppol have a a poor design of dryer here. I also had the washing machine to match this dryer which packed in after 13 months due to a faulty control board. The cost to replace it plus motor was going to be around £500 as I had no extended warranty. Thankfully Costco took the machine back and gave me a full refund. Whirlpool wanted me to write to them and request that they consider reducing the cost of the repair. My advice is to avoid these machines. Rating:
Reviewed by M Bowman on 18/05/2007 A blown fuse cost £80.00 to repair. No schematics to show how to do it yourself. Whirlpool won't help for Health and Safety reasons. £80 is pretty expensive for changing a fuse. Rating:
