Can anyone advise if it is necessary to have any hoses connected to the back of the T230c? The instruction manual is pretty useless!

I have exactly the same problem, thermostats keep blowing although I always clean the filter and occasionally powerjet the condenser, although it stays very clear and doesn't really need it. I have other Miele products and they are all excellent particularly the washing machine. I replaced the thermostat the first time myself but it failed after a week. My local washing machine repairer then replaced it again and apparently Miele charged him £60 for the part alone. It has broken down again now and I am very fed up with it. I didn't call Miele in the first place because we have two young children and use the dryer a lot and I didn't want to wait for their service call which is usually several days. It's still not working - and it's on its 4th thermostat since August. My independent engineer is dealing directly with Miele at the moment. I'll probably end up having to call out Miele as well but I'll report the outcome here. It seems logical to me that there is another fault which causes a greater load to be exerted onto the thermostat although it seems that the resistance level is correct.

Hi I also own one of these terrible machines - the T230C condenser. Just had the thermostat replaced for the fifth time. Totally fed up with it.

Apologies Simon Master but you may own a Miele dealership but obviously you don't personally use a T230C drier! I also am a unfortunate owner of a Miele T230C Condensor drier and am on my forth thermostat. The filters are always cleaned. The whole reason I came across this site is because I was looking for a thermostat to purchase on line because yet again I have no heat. Miele have made a lemon with this machine, there is clearly a design fault and they should own up to it. The huge price they charge for their machines, one would expect it to do the job its intended for, it doesn't simple as that. I thought buying a Miele and basically paying through the nose for it would in the long run pay for itself. This is simply not the case, I could and should of purchased a drier for a fraction of the price and had better service. I know this for a fact as I purchased a White Knight condensor drier for a pittance for a flat I rent out and for years it has given excellent service! I would not recommend Miele to anyone whilst it produces rubbish like the T230C , I have a AEG washing machine and its my second in 15 years, the first is in the flat I now rent out and its still going strong!

Hi I own a miele dealership, There is no problem with the machine, the reason that the stat blows is because the user dosent clean the condenser regularly

Worked for 13 months , then stopped heating. Engineer came out , replaced a £16 thermostat and advised us to clean all filters everytime we use it. We did and 14 months later the thermostat has gone again. I carefully watched the enginner last time , luckily, since this time Miele said it would be £98 callout and £20 for the part. Ordered the part online, replaced the stat in less than 10 mins, 1 screw and 2 wires later working fine. 10 days later its gone again!. Utter rubbish...do not buy , stay well clear of these over priced items. Will never buy any Miele product ever again. You have been warned.

My experience is similar to the below. I expected a machine to work having paid for quality. I, similarly, clean the machine's filters on a regular basis, using a power jet on the condenser's filter. However, the thermostat continues to fail and I now buy them in bulk- why, I have no idea, I should simply get rid of the machine and replace it with a cheaper and more reliable one. There are two reasons why this machine gets a rating of one. The first is that when it works it is good. The second, is that I could not give it a zero rating! Miele know about this fault. There are many web sites discussing it so they have no excuse for not solving it. When the service technicians are called out, they are expensive and not helpful. The only help I received was when I spoke to one of there technicians at their headquarters and discussed the problem. He usefully suggested cleaning the filters. I can accept the need to maintain the the machine. I do not accept the need to maintain it is much as it needs. I can not, and will not recomend this machine. Miele is no longer a brand that I aspire to!

After 9 months of good service, machine stopped heating. Contacted Miele, appointment 8 days later, man came. Required another part, fitted it 8 days later, machine then worked for approx one week, stopped heating again, another appointment, guess what 8 days later, engineer came out and replaced a non resettable thermostat. Told us that manual is incorrect and heat exchanger needs cleaning very frequently to stop overheating. Now 6 weeks later after religious cleaning same problem again. When you spend best part of £500, you expect this machine to last for ever so to speak. Miele service is a call centre style operation with unsympathetic staff, also sent email to service manager, he didn't even bother to reply despite adverts saying that customer satisfaction is of utmost importance to them. This may be a rogue machine but staff issues aren't. I wouldnt recommend.
