Reviewed by Mat Baker on 29/01/2012 Poor machine, rear drum bearing has gone twice now. While I can fix it myself with new parts costing only £10 on ebay, now I've ordered a spare bearing because it will go again within a year. Probably not worth going near Hotpoint (or anything made by Indesit), they are cheap but you get what you pay for!!! Rating:
Reviewed by stu burns on 08/11/2010 mine has the same problem as all others, snapped belt and aparrent worn rear bearing. Obviously a very cheaply made and poorly designed machine, you will be lucky if it last out it's warranty period. expect around £30-50 if you fix it yourself or around £120 if you have it repaired. You will be repeating this exercise every tow to three years. Rating:
Reviewed by Joanne Akarsu on 11/10/2009 Do not even think of purchasing this machine......I have had 3, bought one then had another 2 replaced free of charge, exactly the same problem. Now the 3rd machine has done exactly the same thing, drum not rotating, banging noise, clothes being caught and oil stained.........hotpoint said sorry it's out of warranty now, its 14 mths old and my 3rd machine......I told them it MUST have a manufacturers fault, he wouldn't comment ! Losers ! Rating:
Reviewed by Robert Plant on 29/09/2009 A terrible machine, I used to have a hoover which lasted over 20 years without any repairs, this machine snapped a belt under warranty then again just 1 yr and a few weeks later so I had to pay for the next one, then failed again a year later along with the rear bearing. This is just junk. When it is not being tepaired it drys OK. I spoke to hoover after the second belt snapped and as a proffesiona lengineer pointed out that this must be a design fault or something wrong with my machine, they said my problems were not common. Sounds like lies. Rating:
Reviewed by bob on 19/06/2008 loads of problems, thought i would be ok going cheap with this machine. Learnt my lesson here, you pay for what you get! drum bearings gone twice, thermostat and heater gone etc, not even used that heavily. dont get one pleeeeeeeese! Rating:
Reviewed by Frank Parsons on 31/03/2008 Another failure! Bought a new washing machine (WF32G) which experienced drum bearing failure. It cost approx £90 (free parts from Hotpoint Ha Ha)to be repaired by them. The VTD20 drier has now had drum failure, needing complete new drum just within parts warranty but will have to pay another £90 call out charge. Engineer says this is design fault & common on this model. Do not buy Hotpoint!!! Rating:
Reviewed by Julie Jones on 28/02/2007 Yet another Hotpoint applicance I have purchased, that basically does not last. This product is only just outside of warranty and I am finding it is noisy and it does not dry my clothes properly. I am very disappointed and would not touch another Hotpoint appliance. Rating:
