Bulb just went despite having the thing for less than a year. Should have done due diligence prior to buying. Never buy Zanussi again. Rubbish secound party customer service and rubbish appliance. Rubbish brand in my eyes now.

Have this model and its the third light bulb that as gone in 6 years!!The first one under guarentee and they magaed to get it off. The third one Had to have NEff technican in for my combination and he did it today this as gone and I cannot move it.Will try Rubber Gloves if not have to buy one of those straps as I have athritis and already damaged my thumb..Certainly not a oven for the over 60's..Otherwise I love it but the repair or callout charges are a killer...

Good oven,but my bulb blew after less than a year's use.I have also had to purchase a Baby Boa Constrictor strap wrench,and even with that it has been exceptionally difficult.My neighbour has the same oven,and I have just done theirs with exactly the same problems. Definite design flaw,which is a shame as it is a good product.

Don't go to the expense of a strap wrench, simpy wear a well fitted rubber glove and turn anti-clockwise. The cover will come off with a couple of twists, likewise so will the light bulb.

Toni, to remove the shelf supports for cleaning in this oven you should push upwards on that part of the shelf support fitting nearest the door and pull towards you on the shelf support fitting at the rear (by fitting I mean the two prongs which fit into the sidewall of the oven).

CIRCOTHERM FAN HAS STARTED TO PLAY UP - TAKES AGES TO START TURNING AT FULL SPEED AND SOMETIMES DOESNT WORK AT ALL - ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS BESIDES EXPENSIVE ENGINEER CALL-OUT?

Whilst I am very happy with my oven I cannot, for love nor money, find out how to remove the oven shelf supports to clean. I am afraid to just pull them very hard, in case I break something. Have any other owners had experience?

I was not able to remove the glass bulb cover, several of my burly friends could not either. I went out and bought a strap wrench (4 inch) and did a counterclock wise twist and off it went. Cheers

I too am struggling to get the light cover off. Am I trying to unscrew it or pull it down?

Coming late onto the scene has its advantages as the strap wrench was ordered (amazon) and delivered. It worked a treat. My wife, finding the bulb, located a glass removal tool made of plastic. It's just a plastic socket shaped to fit the glass and again works a treat. It's called a 'Dismounting tool for the cover of baking oven lamps' Part number 613634. This now makes the oven so much more serviceable.

Like others, our light bulb in the top oven failed some time ago. Sort of when it was 12 months old? Now the top oven glass needs cleaning and it's really tight - so ok a strap wrench may help it. I can get one of those. But what about the main oven light bulb? Does that light bulb glass also unscrew - maybe with the assistance of a strap-wrench?

hi, my bulb has also blown after a year !! and i am finding it difficult to remove the cover too! Its a good oven, but have been cooking without a light for at least a month now. I also wonder about the self cleaning facility, as it doesn't self clean at all

My bulb also blew after a year or so. After reading the reviews below I thought I was in for a struggle but no, it unscrewed in a jiffy - with my (weaker) left hand. Now, off to find a new bulb..... Oh, and great oven by the way - the only let down for us has been the "self cleaning" facility. I'm not sure exactly what it's supposed to clean but it sho ain't da oven.

I have also been struggling to remove the bulb cover on my Neff B1422 and have been without the light for a week now and really miss it. My husband and son couldn't budge the cover either so I have now resorted to Google for an answer and thanks to Kris' solution below I will be purchasing a strap wrench. Can't fault the oven but can only give it 4 stars because it is so difficult to change the bulb.

I have just struggled for 2 days to try and change the bulb in my Neff B1422, After a quick search on the internet I found this web site and although I never had access to a strap wrench then I realised that I was able to apply a little more pressure than I was, only trouble was that even after removing the door it was still not easy to get to the cover. I was therefore lucky enough that when I installed it I left enough cable on it to remove it from its housing and lay it on its back ( after turning off the power ) this then allowed me to get a propper grip on the housing and eventually it came loose,

It is a good oven (had it over 2 years). But, the interior light bulb has just blown, and I have the same problem getting the lamp cover off, and will be buying a strap wrench (thanks for the tip). This problem is not unique to Neff - my last oven (Atag) was used for the last few years with no light. Note that if you have bought "extended warranty", this doesn't cover changing bulbs.

Another customer who thinks that this is a good oven severely let down by the frustration and expense entailed in changing the interior light bulb. At least I've now got a strap wrench (yes, the Baby Boa) added to my toolkit. Perhaps Neff should give them away free with every oven.

Bulb has gone on ours within 18 months, which for a machine used as much as ours is not so bad - but as for getting the cover off - a real frustration!! Off to get a "Baby Boa" and see how I get on - thanks for the info

Same problem - read previous reviews - went to B&Q and bought Baby Boa strap wrench for �5.98 - came off very easily - very happy with oven but disappointed light went after 1 year.

Good lord! This really is a common problem, isn't it? Can I just add to the chorus of disapproval. I'm self-employed and I can't afford to waste a working day waiting for an engineer to change a lightbulb. Shame on Neff.

Good for u Bernie - mine didnt and it is obviously a generic problem good cooker though just such a shame about replacing the bulb - surely it should unscrew easily - otherwise Neff should provide a suitable tool to remove it.

Great cooker - should the bulb blow so easily? Sorry about this guys but mine came out really easily. Just a twist. At least I know what a baby boa strap wrench is now.

Excellent oven, but the bulb cover is completely impossible to remove by hand. It is too tightly fastened and extremely difficult to get a good grip on. However, it can easily be removed using a Baby Boa Constrictor strap wrench without risking any damage to the oven or the bulb cover. You can pick one up in B&Q for about �7.

The oven is fine, but the bulb is really a problem. I can't even find out what bulb it is, never mind replacing it. And what is a large pair of grips?

Excellent oven, until the bulb blows as stated by previous posters. I was on the phone to Neff when I came across this site and these comments - I've hung up and will go and find a large pair of grips ... watch this space!

Bulb went on my Nostalgia oven within 6 months of having it. Despite my efforts I too have not been able to get cover off to replace - Have had it less than 2 years now the overn has stopped working altogether - a lot of money for a top name but not top quality!

Can't believe how poor quality control is! I too, can't get bulb cover off and am afraid that if I try a pair of grips I might crack/shatter the cover. This is an common problem for this oven. Don't manufacturers like neff test their ovens before releasing them for sale?

I, my neighbour and another friend all have the Neff B1422 oven all 3 of us are unable to get the bulb cover off. Neff Customers service is zero on the subject. I will be pursuing!! Good oven, lousy service!

I had same problem trying to get glass case off to change bulb. Rang Neff for help, and was disgusted with their negative attitude. I eventually got the case off by using a large pair of grips, this could have been useful help given by neff.

bought this oven and the bulb has gone on it and i cannot get the bulb cover off for love nor money.called neff and they warned me that there could be a 67pound charge if the engineer thought that it is not a fault. tooo risky so say no to neff...
