The first kettle I bought developed a rusty base (inside). The kettle was still in its warranty period so it was replaced. 18 months on (no longer in its warranty period), the replacement has rust spots inside (not as bad as the previous one) AND it leaks from the seam at the base (visible on your photo above). Shame, because it is a good looking kettle, nice, simple, streamlined design.

hole at top of kettle on inside allows water and stream to collect and causes kettle to leak. AVOID

Replacement filters from Kenwood are half the cost a new kettle.
