Reviewed by Sam on 19/11/2010 Our last a bit longer - about 14 months before the window started leaking. Finally gave up after 18 months. Our 3rd kettle in 5 years - I guess you get what you pay for but Breville should be ashamed if this is a problem that has been known about for years Rating:
Reviewed by Harry Smith on 02/09/2010 Leaks from the plastic window and higher up on the kettle itself. The nature seems to have gone out of the plastic. Breville stick strictly to their twelve month guarantee and are not interested outside that period. Rating:
Reviewed by Norman on 28/07/2010 Very dangerous - the plastic turns brittle after a while in use and the clear side panel fell out spilling boiling water everywhere. Very dangerous so avoid - there are many reviews on the internet that report leaks from the side - they were the lucky ones. I have reported the dangerous incident to Breville who do not take it seriously !!! Whatever you do - do not use this kettle in a sunny kitchen because it will make the plastic brittle - when the kettle is full of boling water and you the it from the base to make your tea the body distorts with the weight and the plastic side fall out - very dangerous. Not rcommended for the elderly or part sighted. Rating:
Reviewed by Jackson on 18/01/2010 Very please with the kettle as it could be used left handed & poured nicely however it started to leak after 11 months. A hole appeared where the filter inside joined the kettle. Water leaked out & into the base where the electrical connector is. Very disappointed as I thought Breville was a good make & the kettle was not the cheapest. Rating:
Reviewed by Dave on 31/12/2009 This worked fine to start with, but blew a fuse. I replaced the fuse cartridge; this time the fuse was ok and it tripped the mains. The light still comes on but there is no chance of it boiling anything as the element isn't working. Since the element doesn't appear to be accessible I can't fit a new one or get it repaired. This is not what I expect from a £20+ kettle. If I wanted disposable goods I would them at Tesco for £2.50 and not worry when they stopped working. I would not buy this kettle again, or anything else from this manufacturer. Rating:
Reviewed by Steve Thomas on 01/09/2008 Worked well for just over the year then started to blow fuses. Good ergonomics and fast boiler but would expect to last longer than a year! Rating:
Reviewed by MM on 19/12/2007 The kettle worked quite well for a short time and even now, it will still boil water. However, it leaks it out from the side of the 'leak-proof' water gauge and onto the electric base. Not exactly ideal! It also pours poorly. Overall, not a very poor buy. Rating:
