Reviewed by Shirley Avis on 07/08/2009 When I first used my Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine, I was very pleased with it. It cooked the food perfectly (although timing was a little hit and miss) and it seemed to keep the food moist. I bought the family size one and it was plenty large enough to feed all 5 of us. However, after using it less than a dozen times it developed a leak and fatty deposits gather in and around the front right hand leg, making the worktop in a complete mess. I did contact Salton (the makers), but found them extremely unhelpful - in fact, the chief executive didn't even bother to read the letter he replied to! I am now left with a grilling machine which grills perfectly, but leaves my worktop in a terrible state. The grill machine itself is also quite difficult to clean as I have the version which you cannot take the plates out of and you are unable to put them in water. If buying, I would recommend one with removeable plates, but don't count on any after sales service if it fails you!! Rating:
Reviewed by Josie on 15-08-2004 Excellent grill for some things, but for others better off with an ordinary oven grill. Very good for steaks, fish steaks like swordfish, marlin, tuna, that type of thing, good for gammon steaks. Haven't tried sausages. Excellent toasted sandwiches. It is easy to clean, but would be better if the plates were removable for cleaning. It has a thing like a container for the fat to drain into, which is OK. I did vegetables like peppers, but found them slightly dry. Quick and efficient because both sides
are cooked together. The stripes give a professional finish to your cooking. Rating:
