The quote from hotpoint would have been 99.98(inc all parts needed and labour) with 12 months gaurentee on the compressor/parts fitted and a 15 day full appliance gaurentee.. if u live within the m25 add an extra tenner to the bill...a third of the price i may add of the independant guy.this fault could readily happen with any make of appliance to be fair!

This is a slightly bigger version of their RLA64 which after 14 months broke down(two months after the end of the guarentee expired; note: don't bother to look at the 5 year parts guarentee as the get you on the labour charges). The compressor went and the cheapest quote to repair was �105 with no guarentee or �160 with a 12 month guarentee (from hotpoint). An independant serviceman quoted �300. So now looking to buy another fridge, anything but Hotpoint !
