Reviewed by THO on 15/04/2012 Fridge door handle spring broke, very small problem compared to others here. No other problems. But it looks like that when (if?) it fails, I'll dump it rather trying to fix it. ;) Mine is second hand machine, I've no idea about actual age, but it looks like quite new. Rating:
Reviewed by GWD on 24/03/2012 5th episode Confirmed by Miele technician that appliance has gas leak and replacement required. What happened after this requires me to write paragraphs and paragraphs of information so i will just cut the story short and say once again Miele customer services have a serious amount of work to do just to get up to substandard care. Anyway i have my third new fridge/freezer so watch this space because if it is anything like the last two i will be writing another paragraph of woe in another 20 month time. Rating:
Reviewed by GWD on 12/03/2012 4th episode in this long saga and have now been on my second fridge freezer from miele for 19 month and guess what? That’s right folks the freezer warning light starts to beep and the temperature in the fridge starts to raise thankfully this appliance is covered by the 2 year warranty but all this seems all too common like a coincidence from the first fridge freezer i had for this amount of time before the same thing happened so i won’t hold my breath for this problem to be sorted out in a hurry. Service engineer looking to be out in 4 days time so a claim for spoilt food will be going in. Rating:
Reviewed by Cynthia Dougherty, Canada on 09/03/2012 Purchased a Miele fridge/freezer Model #KFN8992SD 2 years ago. So far we have had a broken handle, a 4 inch crack in the freezer door rubber gasket (no known cause)and 2 blockages in the rubber tube that drains water from the fridge! The Customer Service from Miele Canada is irratic: sometimes they help us, sometimes they don't. We will never buy a Miele fridge or product again. This was our first and last experience. We paid $800 for our last fridge from GE and it lasted 18 years without a single problem! Rating:
Reviewed by Bob Loblaw on 04/12/2011 Same as most of these other reviews, really - had the unit for 3 1/2 years, no problems at all, then suddenly the fridge started freezing everything regardless of temperature setting. The back of the fridge is covered in a thick layer of frost, and leaving a beaker of water in there overnight means you'll wake up to a beaker of solid ice. Reading the reviews below, this seems to be an obvious manufacturing fault, but it only seems to have started happening to everyone in the last couple of years. Wish I'd known before buying. Rating:
Reviewed by Peter Bolton on 16/09/2011 Bought this unit 3 years ago and it has been trouble free until now. However, the fridge has recently turned into a freezer, irrespective of temperature setting. The auto defrost seems to have malfunctioned due to a faulty temperature sensor. Local Miele agents are due to replace the sensor at a cost of £120 with a 1 year guarantee. This is acceptable if it is a one-off and cures the problem. If it doesn't work, the agents have offered to discount the cost of the repair against a new fridge freezer, which is unlikely to be a Miele. Rating:
Reviewed by Tony Davison on 02/08/2011 Handle fell off after 2 years and now it ices up at the back. Miele have an appalling and arrogant customer service attitude. Bought a top spec Miele freezer at the same time - had to have it replaced 3 times in 2 years and was promised full refund if it went wrong again. Miele reneged and it's now in the garden shed. Replaced it with a Bosch which hasn't missed a beat. Don't ever think you're buying quality when you buy Miele - it's all sales hype. As one of their engineers said (on one of the many visits)'Buy the washing machine or dishwasher but don't touch their fridges or freezers.' By the way delighted if you want to sue me Miele I'd so look forward to it and exposing your awful company. Rating:
Reviewed by bad bad bad on 01/08/2011 oh dear, i guess we didnt know how bad this fridge/freezer was until about 3+years after we bought it, there are no reviews into the future. but yes,no problems for the first few years, then BAM...same problem as everyone else, fridge freezes up, i had it repaired last year, they replaced the temp censor with a new one, now freezing up again 8 months later. Reviewed by Peter Armstrong on 31/05/2011 Update from below. third engineer visit. Cannot repair- sealed unit in rear fridge area - dead duck! No more Miele purchases for me - just hope that washing machine continues to function for a while! Rating:
Reviewed by Peter Armstrong on 18/05/2011 Same problem as a number of other reviews - KFN8452SD lasted 3 and a half years in my case - fridge solidly frozen. Signed up to Miele @remedy Plus' warranty - first engineer visit 7 days ago - replaced temperature sensor and electronic unit. Failed again 2 days later - further engineer called today - advised 'system fault' or maybe compressor - seemed both uncertain/ didn't have required part, nor the time to fix! Awaiting call back from Miele service centre - lost 2 days annual leave so far... All the best! Rating:
Reviewed by Trevor Lake on 15/03/2011 Fridge Freezer KFN8862SD - Miele service is pretty slow. I have had one new compressor fitted after 2 years and a further 8 months and the appliance is not working again. Takes one week for an engineer to come and tell me we need a refrigeration engineer. That really is a waste of Miele's time and mine. Over the last 8 months the unit has been out of action for 5 weeks. I do think their service arrangements should be better - after all their strap line is "Forever Better". I don't mind problems - but Miele need to respond more swiftly. Rating:
Reviewed by NBO on 15/10/2010 We have same problem, the fridge is freezing up and I have to keep turning it off. I had arranged for a callout for early next week, but am trying to cancel it as I can ill afford to throw away £98, which after reading these reviews seems i would be doing. I have had my model KFN8452 sd for about 6 years with no other probs so i guess I should be grateful for that! Always thought that Miele were the best, but now have big doubts, perhaps its not worth paying premiium price for a product that is undoubtedly no longer a premium one Rating:
Reviewed by B Brooks on 27/09/2010 We have a Miele larder fridge, about 5' high. After about 5 years the door handle started to fall off every time you used it. Of course it was out of guarantee by then. Miele wanted over £50 for a simple new replacement part. This fridge is a normal family fridge, only average use, so for the door handle to fall off is pretty poor. Poor attitude from Miele. I've actually managed to repair it using a thin veneer of araldite to beef-up the part. Rest of the fridge works well, but would not buy from Miele again. Rating:
Reviewed by MMC on 26/08/2010 Sadly unlike GWD 7/2010, I have not had 5year guarantee with the same appliance. After 26months the frige compartment has turned into a freezer. I have telephoned Miele to see what there views were as I didn't think paying almost £600 the appliance could justify £95 call out charge and no parts. Their best offer was £95 call out charge aqnd 50% off any parts. I have sent 2 e mails to complain about the situation after 3/4 days I have had no response from them. All my appliances are Miele but I will seriously consider other manufactures products as I no longer have any faith that Miele are "the best". from one very dissappointed and dissatified ex customer.. Reviewed by GWD on 11/08/2010 3rd episode Miele fridge/freezer. Service engineer came out and told me that he could not do anything about it as he thought the compressor had conked out and said miele would ring me the next day but they did not so I had to contact them myself the day after. While on the phone they told me that they would have to send a fridge freezer specialist out to see me but I refused this on the grounds that I had been with this faulty appliance for over five week and was not prepared to let this drag on any longer as I have a large family and need this appliance working now. Thankfully miele management acknowledged this and replaced my faulty appliance for a new one seven days later. Hopefully I will have better luck this time or there could be another chapter in this saga. Rating:
Reviewed by GWD on 26/07/2010 2nd episode Miele fridge/freezer after Replacing the fridge probe the fault developed a week later (freezer bleeping) so the engineer came out and replaced the memory board under warranty unfortunately the fault developed two weeks later so look out for my 3rd episode in this saga. Reviewed by J Moth on 24/07/2010 Funny how people only leave reviews when they've had problems with stuff! It seems this FF is now discontinued but I'll leave this review anyway. Had this FF since I moved house in Dec 2007 it's been great I've had no problems with it and I haven't had to defrost it at all! I'd never turned it down to 1c on the fridge but the other day I did this and some stuff on the bottom shelf got a bit frozen. No big deal as I usually run it at 3-5c for economy. I run the freezer at -18c and it's fine. Rating:
Reviewed by GWD on 05/07/2010 Miele fridge/freezer developed a fault after 23 month turned out to be the fridge temperature sensor luckily enough this was replaced under 5 year free warranty. Rating:
Reviewed by Neil McGuinness on 30/06/2010 My Miele fridge/freezer is only 3 years old. The freezer keeps icing up and beeping. We paid a lot of money expecting the product to last 15 years and are more than disappointed with the product. Please Miele, help us as we can ill afford another fridge/freezer. Who can we contact as Comet won't help us. Rating:
Reviewed by pc on 22/06/2010 the door handle springs keep breaking, replaced 1ce under warranty then they asked for £54 for 2 springs that are similar to those on clothes pegs. I kept emailing them and they eventually accepted responsibility and sent me a new handle. Rating:
Reviewed by JF on 07/06/2010 I've just called the engineer out for the 4th time since buying my Miele fridge freezer just over a year ago. Customer service from Miele has been poor throughout and we have again had to wait over a week for an engineer to come out. Paid a premium for a product that I thought would last years and give me no problems. I am now asking Miele for a full refund so I can buy a reliable fridge freezer! Rating:
Reviewed by VW on 01/06/2010 We have a Miele K8952 Fridge, when it was 2.5 years old it kept freezing the contents and the probe was replaced. (cost to us £120 incl call-out). 6 months later, the fault has returned but Miele says it's unlikely to be the probe/sensor again - who knows. I suspect I will change the fridge before spending hundreds on finding out that it might be something else that could cost even more. I would not touch Miele again. Rating:
Reviewed by Paul Beevers on 12/04/2010 We have had this product for 2.5 years and 2 problems. The first was the door handle broke. The second more serious is that the freezer beeper keeps going off. Each time we press Superfreeze the beeper stops for 2 days and then returns. We bought this fridge freezer as a premium product and we have never ever had an appliance go bad as quickly as this. Miele are not acknowledging that this is a faulty product. Rating:
Reviewed by Gary on 08/04/2010 Same as others Fridge freezes up. Save money don't buy miele. Rating:
Reviewed by Hedley 06/02/210 on 06/02/2010 I have to agree with Ann we have experienced the same problems with our Miele Fridge Freezer KFN 8452D which is 2 1/4 years old. Waiting to find how much it will cost to repair. Rating:
Reviewed by Ann on 30/01/2010 Quote taken from Comet website about Miele products "Exceptional German enginerring and rigorous testing procedures mean that Miele appliances are designed to give outstanding performance for a lifetime on average of 20 year." I have had this model - KFN 8452D - for 2 1/2 years and it has developed a fault...the fridge section kept freezing up despite adjusting the temperature. Miele won't repair it because it is just outside of the 2 year guarantee period. And Comet want to charge for repairing it regardless of the consumer protection offered by the Sale of Goods Act (amended). I have read on several forums of Miele fridge freezers having the same problem as I've encountered. It is obviously a manufacturing fault which needs to be investigated and those appliances which have this fault should either be repaired free of charge, or monies refunded, or a replacement new fridge/freezer offered. My advice is to steer well clear of Miele's fridge/freezers! Rating:
