Reviewed by dottie on 10/02/2012Bought this 5 months ago and regretted it ever since. The loud cracking noise comes on every 45 mins and every time I've opened the fridge door. Have an open plan kitchen/living room so extremely disturbing. Also have to remember to close kitchen door at night, otherwise woken up by noise. Have been told this is normal? How can this be? Hotpoint (aka Indesit now) have not been helpful eg "Is my fridge near to my bed?!!!!" Engineer coming out next week, but don't hold out much hope. There's obviously a massive design fault somewhere. Do Hotpoint/Indesit ever read reviews? If not, there's no hope for anyone else. Hotpoint used to be a reliable name, but I'm resolved never to buy one of their products again and advise anyone else to follow suit. New model freezes up with ice and there is a very loud whirring motor noise coming from the back - like someone is trying to start a motor bike in my dining room. I daren't go out and leave it switched on now, in case the same thing happens again and it burns the house down. You'd be a fool to buy this thing! Hardly any frost build up and no funny noises. Freezer stops working once ice has built up only 3 years old and i'm having to buy a new one load of rubbish do not buy!! Contacted Hotpoint - don't know how to fix problem and gave me phone number to call engineer - Not good enough Hotpoint. I will now try to switch off my fast freeze as suggested in other review. But how do you know if Fast Freeze is on or off the book says 0 is on I is off but is it Push the 0 in to swich off or leave it out ?? Rating: Reviewed by a azzouz on 23/04/2010 Hi My Elderly mother had the same problem of the ice build up and the crackling after an engineer came out he found the fast freeze was switched on, he switched it off and overnight the frost had gone. Worst of all are the terrible cracking noises coming presumably from the cheapo plastic. Hotpoint say its `normal` My advice is do not buy a Hotpoint Rating: Reviewed by Lambdonlarge on 02/02/2010 Fridge regularly emits a loud 'crack' noise, ice build up on back of fridge compartment - otherwise fine (!) The 'crack' noise would appear to be a Hotpoing trait, as it crops up the review of the Hotpoint FF fridge-freezer. Am going to attempt a de-frost to cure the problem. Fridge(new) came with the house, so if all else fails will ask the vendor for the receipt and swap it for something else. Rating:
