Reviewed by Becky on 23/06/2011Had same problem had engineer out twice sent free of charge even though 2 years old and no insurance as it is a known fault. They have also sent me £60 worth of vouchers for food. Fridge is still not working so I will be calling them again in the morning to request a new fridge freezer . Rating: ![]() Reviewed by L Hope on 08/12/2010 I had an engineer out for an ARISTON Washer/Dryer which has a design fault where the dryer falls apart after a while because of how they have designed it - 9 times now. Hotpoint are the manufacturers. The same engineer inspected our FF4DK Fridge Freezer and pointed out the same problem as everyone else on this forum. A wire on the inside of the top left door that feeds the alarm system has been severed. He warned that it could blow the electrics and fry the mother board, basically admitting the fault. I was offered the same deal - either a one of payment of £105 or £160 for an extended one year warranty, which to be honest would be pointless as you can guarantee after another year or so the same thing would happen again. I am also submitting to watchdog. And I have to clear the water well underneath at least once a week - pathetic and annoying to say the least. Also, this machine makes a hell of a racket. Stay well clear. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by D Williams on 10/08/2010 Do not buy this expensive model with known faults. There are huge lists of dissatisfied customers on other websites all with the same problem. My Fridge Freezer - FF4DK just over a year old - severed a wire when the left hand door was closed, severed a wire and blew all the electrics and the motherboard as well as leaving live wires exposed - very dangerous - thank goodness we were in the house at the time. Hotpoint must recall this very dangerous model before someone is killed. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by jo mcdonald on 26/05/2010 Please do not buy this fridge freezer. I have had it less than 15months. I have had the same problem as everyone else on this page. I am a family of five with young children who drink milk and i have been left with no refrigeration for 12 days. i have tonight emailed watchdog. It is totally unacceptable that hotpoint are not recalling this model and replacing everyone out there. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by kelly pearce on 19/05/2010 16 months old same problem 3 times wiring on door hinge cut it fridge blew up still trying to repair it i have had to take out insurance now to pay for all the repairs hotpoint are not helpful at all spoke to trading standards and would advise people to email watchdog to try and get this matter sorted, i am running out of options never again would i buy anything from hotpoint Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Edward Hicks on 29/03/2010 Seventeen months old - left door fell off. I think same problem with cable to door. Instead of the hinge cover cutting the cable it caused the door to rise and fall off. The good news. Do not pay £160. Use template letter on Consumer Direct website. These safety issues show the product is not fir for purpose. Tell Hotpoint about your safety concerns but your redress is to send a recorded delivery letter to the retailer telling them you are claiming under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as amended). The retailer is liable for 6 YEARS to repair or replace free of charge. I have just cancelled my new Hotpoint kitchen and are ordering non- Indesit/Hotpoint instead. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by W.Smith on 18/01/2010 Similar problem. My fridge was tripping the electric every time I closed the L/H door. The cable running from inside the fridge compartment and into the door had damaged by the door hinge, leaving bare wiring. This happened when the appliance was 15 months old. Because I didn't know what was wrong at first, I accidently touched this cable which give me an electric shock. As far as I'm concerned this is a poor design. It should be common sense that you don't run electric cables alongside metal moving parts or crush points. This fridge is not only a danger to it's users, it is also a fire risk in this state. I think they should be recalled. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by B loring on 13/11/2009 My fridge freezer is just over a year old so out of warranty. The alarm that tells you the doors are open is now continuous all through the night. Talking to Hotpoint was pointless they advised me to pay either £100 for an egineer to call or over £160 to extend warranty. My Husband who is an electrician believes the wiring is not housed correctly and consequently every time you close the door it cuts through the wire to the alarm device. Surely the machine should be fit for purpose.Needless to say I will never buy another Hotpoint product ! Rating: ![]()
