Reviewed by reg bristow on 29/05/2010 this freezer was a replacement for another hotpoint that melted inside this model worked well until water came out of the bottom door do not intend to pay hotpoint any more money so looked at ploblem my shelf. took off rear inside panels to expose freezing element which was a large block of ice. thawed this out and have turned controls down to min which after 6 months seems to work. check with a freezer thermometer that is is cold enough which it was.will not buy hotpoint again. Reviewed by vwick on 17/05/2009 We have had our Hotpoint FF187E for about 2.5 years. At first all was well, however, after just 2 years the problems started. This fridge is advertised as a 'defrost free' appliance which is incorrect. Ice starts to build up around the motor, which in turn, starts to block up the freezer vents and the freezer starts to warm up. As the fridge uses the coolness of the freezer to keep cold this also begins to warm up. As a result the appliance alarms sound and you have to remove all contents and and go through a defrosting process. We have had to defrost 3 times since October 2008. After conducting some additional research we have found this is a common problem with this particular appliance. Rating:
Reviewed by Khursh on 09/05/2009 Had the same problem with the fridge. After 4 repairs in 6 months from Comet, they finally agreed that there was a manufacturers fault with the defrost timing mechanism, which was causing the excess ice build up clogging the airflow to the fridge unit. Do not by this product. If you have bought it then get your money back as soon as possible!! Rating:
Reviewed by Gigi on 02/07/2008 Only a couple of years old, but this machine has been the bane of my life. The clever electronics broke almost immediately and had to be replaced. "Frost free" - yeah, right! I've given up on having the engineer round. To keep the cold air flowing up to the fridge, I have to take it apart and hack the ice away from the cooler element and vents every week. I am counting the days until I can finally replace this shameful effort of an appliance. It's a design calamity - I cannot see how it could ever function properly and I feel like I have been robbed by Hotpoint. Rating:
Reviewed by Min on 18/06/2008 Start giving problems after 6 months. Stop coooling, throwing away bad smell like dead rat. It's been nearly 1&1/2 yrs and broken down nearly ten times. Finally decided to dump this fridge. Do not buy this fridge even someone give you free. Rating:
