Andy, it would be worth contacting Consumer Direct who will take up and fight your dad's case for him. Although not over £500 any fridge, freezer or fridge/freezer is bought with the expectation of more than 18 months use out of it. Therefore, this fridge/freezer is not fit for its intended purpose. The one year guarantee is not your only comeback. Hope you get help. Maggie

BEKO CDA fridge freezer bought comet 13.4.09 worst appliance ever bought cost new £256.85 failed completely last night (4.11.10) warmer in the fridge & Freezer than in the Kitchen itself. Comet want £99.99 to send a man out WHY should a 18 month Fridge freezer fail Dad (82 year old ) couldn't afford insurance and BEKO do not want to know Beware BEKO products obviously second rate
