Reviewed by D.Cripps on 25/12/2011Beko CDA539 Fridge/Freezer came as fittings with current rented accom.Been here now ca.6 months - item packed up today, all food wasted - fan works,but suspect compressor/thermostat is kaput.I think it was relatively new when I moved in. Seems many people have had similar faults- would not recommend. Have transferred food to old fridge in conservatory - hope I don't get food poisoning!! p.s. as with another review brown sludge has formed at bottom of freezer compartmant. Reading other reviews it sounds like it's the compressor thats gone wrong on mine too! Very disappointing that it's not lasted longer. Why aren't appliances made to last anymore. Stay away from this model. Within the first two years the compressor went on my Beko fridge freezer whilst I was on holiday, ruining all the food and leaving a right mess to come home to, and a compressor to replace. A year after that after having a new one fitted, I got some sludge forming in the fridge freezer which was resolved too. Today the compressor has gone again, and I'm disappointed that a fridge freezer can't even make it to five years, why don't manufacturers feel any responsibility for the build quality of their appliances? Rating: Reviewed by Nick Baker on 07/10/2010 moved into a new house to be the owner of a hardly used beko ca5411ffw fridge freezer. after 3 weeks yep you guessed it we came down in the morning to discover it was blowing out hot air! Now I have heard of fridges breaking but blowing out hot air thats a new one to me. So consequently all the food was spoiled in the freezer!! Here is some advice do not ever buy a Beko! I wont, well I acquired it so I guess I didn't technically buy it! The hassle and inconvenience of loosing all the food is enough to have put me off this model for life!!! My unit stopped working one night and i lost all the food, unit was a little over 2 years old. The shortest working fridge freezer i have ever has !! Rating: Reviewed by Mike Scott on 24/06/2010 Do not buy this appliance, bought just over August 2008 1st compressor failed whilst away on holiday just inside the 1 year warranty but had a fridge/freezer full of rotten food. Repaired 2nd compressor failed! This was repaired £170!! now this compressor is failing. Clearly not fit for purpose, you have been warned stay away from Beko!! Rating: Reviewed by Susan Brady on 26/03/2010 Appliance completely failed 18 months after purchase. Paid vast ammount for Beko engineer to come and repair it. Was told the usual silly things i.e. I had left door open, kitchen was not correct temperature etc.etc. Basically, anything but tell you the truth that the thing is rubbish. Replacement of a compressor got it going but it is no longer frost free in either the fridge or the freezer. I am off to spend my hard earned cash on something decent which does what it says on the tin. Don't but this thing - it don't work. Rating: Reviewed by Debbie on 03/02/2010 bought this model just under three years ago, kept clean n free from obstruction. compressor just failed. going to cost more than the appliance is worth to repair. seems to me that these appliances are manufactured to malfunction within two to three years of purchase. do not recommend anyone waste their hard earned cash on this make. Rating: Reviewed by Chris on 13/01/2010 I purchased a Beko Frost Free Fridge freezer model CA5411FFS in September 2004 from Comet. After 11 months it all freezed behind the the back panel in the freezer unit. Fixed under the 1 year waranty,needing a new thermostat. The same thing happened again some months later. Beko kindly sent me a free thermostat which I fitted myself. In 2007 the fridge failed completely. The engineer said I needed a new compressor. I complained to Beko again and they sent me a new compressor free but I had to pay to install it- cost £76. The next April 2008, I found water dripping onto an electrical junction box at the back causing sparks and smoking. It could have resulted in a very hazardas event. Beko replaced the fridge/freezer (model CDA539FS ) free of charge for obvious reasons, coming with a years guarantee. I noticed with this new model the sais junction box had been located in a safer position. Now the new one has stopped working completely after 20 months. There was no icing up just everything shut down apart from a small ticking noise from the now cold compressor. Sounds like this unit has packed up.The fridge is level and in a warm kitchen. I'd heard about the EU law stating goods should have minimum two year guarantee and contacted Beko. They said it only applied to retail sales and they were a manufacturer but I stated they supplied it direct to me so they acted as a retailer under this legislation. This cut no ice with them and said they could not assist further. Rating: Reviewed by r dixon on 03/12/2009 bought this fridge freezer 2007.
