Reviewed by Shirley, Oxford on 11/08/2010Nobody should consider buying this freezer. There is a design fault that results in the middle two drawers jamming. They are then virtually impossible to dislodge. I have had to break the drawers to remove them and, having done that I can now see why they stick (the drawers slip off the plastic runner on one side and then the drawer base jams solid between one side of the freezer and the inside of the drawer runner. Even with this knowledge, there is no way to stop this happening.) Rating: ![]() Reviewed by donna robertson on 20/07/2009 I bought this freezer a month ago AFB601 in Black, the drawers seem to be sticking a lot and seems to be over freezing, ice cream is rock hard too.. now one of the drawers has snapped and Im £59 out of pocket for new one. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Fiona of Bushey on 03/06/2009 Bought this freezer 10 months ago. Second drawer keeps getting stuck. FInally got wedged so tight that we couldnt shut the door and had to empty and defrost the freezer. Still cannot see where or why the drawer is stuck, eventually had to break the drawer completely to remove it. Whirlpool customer care said that drawers are cosmetic and therefore not covered under warranty! Argued that if the drawer is stopping the door from closing, then freezer is not fit for purpose. Then told that faulty parts have to be reported within 10 days of purchase. They passed us around different departments for 30 mins before finally agreeing to send us a new drawer free of charge, only after threats of complaining to Trading Standards and Consumer Direct, and also writting to the Managing Director. THINK TWICE BEFORE BUYING WHIRLPOOL FREEZERS. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Pamela (Herts) on 11/03/2009 Draws run freely then completely jams and will not close meaning the door can't close either. At 72 years of age I cannot free the draws and have now lost the contents twice with two weeks of owning the thing. My son broke one draw trying to free it and following an engineers visit this was replaced with a new draw that has now stuck. Awaiting a second engineer but product appears at this stage to be unfit for purpose. The last engineer said it was a manufacturing fault but CS denied any knowledge of a fault. I would not recommend this freezer and cannot use mine. Rating: ![]() Reviewed by Joan (Cumbria) on 22/06/2008 Freezer works ok but there is a problem with the badly fitting drawers. Whirlpool knows about it and I am waiting for modified drawers to replace the cracked and broken ones that jammed in their runners. Rating: ![]()
