Reviewed by Tony Clarke on 13/12/2011 I have to agree with most of these, I have just had my 2nd door handle snap in a year and Zanussi won't cover it as it is 'Wear and tear'! They could at least offered to send a replacement as goodwill, especially as I have always recommended Zanussi and have the full range of their appliances, but the quality has gone very low on this machine, so time to change the make of all my kitchen appliances! Reviewed by chris on 10/10/2011 Didn't clean properly, never dried properly, on/off button collapsed into control panel after 14 months, smell of electrical burning after 22 months (circuite board?). Even although this could have caused a fire Zanussi don't want to know. Would give a big fat zero if I could... rubbish. Rating:
Reviewed by G Powers on 28/05/2011 Had a Zanussi for 18 years, brilliant, wanted another, what a load of rubbish is the ZDF511, handle broke after 16 months but have continued using for last 2 months now door will not lock, can't be bothered to have this heap of junk repaired will now look for new machine, understandably not a Zanussi Rating:
Reviewed by Sarah Wood on 21/02/2011 I purchased this dishwasher in April 2009, after having been very satisfied with an older model which lasted 18 years. This new one is extremely disappointing - mainly because of the number of broken glasses. This has to be due to a design fault. I purchased it on line and I reckon if I had physically seen the lay out for stacking glasses, would not have chosen this model. The bottom of the (top) rack is not flat, so things tend to fall over. It is quiet, but that is the only good thing about it. I am extremely disappointed. Rating:
Reviewed by Nige Booth on 21/02/2011 One word rubbish, does not clean properly. Always ended up swearing at it when loading it. It has broken down twice (only 18 months old,)this time I cannot be bothered to have it repaired. Rating:
Reviewed by Seamus on 22/12/2010 Bad bad bad Dishwasher. Less than a year old. Waste pump gone faulty. At least this can be fixed. The tray design can't and it is a nightmare. Constant arguments about who should load the dam thing. Tall glasses etc now been washed by hand. Never ever again. Rating:
Reviewed by Maggie on 27/09/2010 Worst dishwasher....EVER!!!! Door handle snapped after 18 months. Zanussi are not interested, engineer has quoted £95.15 to replace. Design is really poor, thin 3mm piece of plastic which obviously can't cope with the job it's been given. Internal design is as bad as handle, rubbish....Do not buy! Rating:
Reviewed by Celia H on 10/09/2010 This machine has been the biggest waste of money I have ever spent money on, from my point of view it does to put it bluntly do what it says on the tin..IT DOES NOT CLEAN THE DISHES..No I do not rinse the dishes before I put them in..why would I?? I have a DISHWASHER, an item designed to supposedly wash the dishes for me, to save me standing at the kitchen sink rinsing, and Yes I have also used the rinse function prior to washing,It does not matter which program I use, I have tried them all, including the one that runs for 3½ hours..how is that an AAA function??? I have to put up with this machine now as I cannot afford to purchase a different one, but how I wish I had my old Whirlpool one back, it gave me 10+ yrs of excellent service Rating:
Reviewed by Steve M on 09/08/2010 I can't agree with the negative reviewers. They've clearly been unlucky. I think most reviews of appliances on the web are negative because people don't bother to review products that work well. This isn't a bad dishwasher at all. It cleans very well, dries pretty well and is very quiet in use. The shelves are well designed and are easy to stack with dishes. It seems reasonably solid, although the front door is plasticky and flimsy. Perhaps this is the problem - if you abuse it it may not last long. It's very easy to use and has AAA efficiency. The timer feature is good and a useful LED display shows how much time is remaining on the wash. My only complaint is that it takes 137 minutes to do a normal wash, which is a long time, but since it's quiet and efficient, it's not a big deal. One final point - unlike many modern appliances, it does *not* beep annoyingly when finished - phew! Rating:
Reviewed by Kevin shipman on 21/07/2010 Only had it nine months, The reason we got it was for the delay start. So we can use cheap electric at night. The last time we put it on was in the morning as my wife forgot to set it at night, within 30 mins it was smoking and on the verg of bursting into flames. Good job I was their to turn it off. The repair man has now been twice to it, and every time he says it is fixed it shorts all the power and more smoke. we are still waiting for repair, but to be honest I dont think I would ever trust this machine at night again. Buy one of these and end up washing pots in a sink Rating:
Reviewed by val woolrich on 12/07/2010 this dishwasher is dreadfull having had zanussi for years we ordered another what a mistake top shelf does not hold things in place everything falls over fifteen months after buying the door pull snapped off b and q do n ot want to know and zanussi said it was abused so do not buy this product i rest my case Rating:
Reviewed by M Taylor on 11/04/2010 This is very poor dishwasher. Why? (1)In 2008 we changed from a Philips to this primarily because it appeared to offer a 30 minute cycle. It will clean many dishes in 30 minutes but not all, so you end up having to examine each item before putting it away. The "auto" cycle takes a minimum of 123 minutes which I think is excessive. So, in short, it is either fast or effective, but not both. (2)The on/off switch has broken twice in 18 months. The switch is mounted on two flimsy plastic arms which break over time and the whole switch falls into the front panel. So, poor build quality. (3) As can be seen from the other reviews, it is easier to solve the Rubics cube than effectively load this machine. As another unfortunate purchaser pointed out, the designer of these trays could never have used it in any practical sense. So, poor design. (4) I live in Ireland, and when I reported the switch fault to Electrolux they referred me to a local service agent whose view of proactive, timely and courteous service differs from mine. So, poor service. If I could replace this machine tomorrow I would, but it cost ¤314 and I have higher priorities than to pay to change it. Rating:
Reviewed by John Reeves on 25/03/2010 We've had this dishwasher about six months now and the door has always had a tendency to not stay open when loading. I'd get an engineer out if i could be bothered to spend another afternoon on the phone (previous experience from having had a faulty dishwasher delivered in the first place). The top rack is like a challenge on the Krypton factor, The whole purpose of it seems to be to accomodate the pipe which runs through the centre, the only things which seem to fit comfortably are long thin items like knives and ladles. We've given up trying to fit wine glasses in it and now do them by hand. The front bottom plate rack is too close to the front of the machine so normal sized dinner plates tend to roll out. Whoever designed the racking has probably never loaded a dishwasher in their lives. On the positive side it does seem to clean whatever you can manage to fit into it and is pretty quiet. But then wouldn't you expect that of any dishwasher these days otherwise what's the point?. Rating:
Reviewed by Chris Purcell on 18/03/2010 This is the worst dishwasher I have ever owned. If I lower the top rack to accommodate normal size pint glass I cant get me dinner plates in the rack below. Trying to fit items in the top is a nightmare as the top rack is badly designed. The folding racks on bottom shelf fold up when I dont want them to.If plates are put in the front rack on the bottom when the door is closed they roll out. Mine has broken down twice now and had to wait a week each time for someone to call out. DO NOT BUY THIS DISHWASHER IT IS NOT FIT FOR THE PURPOSE IT WAS MADE. One plus point it does a great cleaning job in 30 mins and is very quiet. Rating:
Reviewed by Sue Hulme on 25/01/2010 I have to agree with Susan Mackie's comments. I am so frustrated everytime I load the thing that I have just written to Zanussi to complain. The interior is so badly designed that you cannot fit more than a couple of dinner plates in the bottom tray as the arm will not rotate freely. Glasses and cups fall over in the top tray. It takes me so long to load it after I try and figure out the puzzle of 'what can go where' that it would be quicker handwashing the dishes!! Try a different model or make? Rating:
Reviewed by Susan Mackie on 30/07/2008 My husband bought me this dishwasher. I would not recommend it for the following reasons. 1. The sliding baskets are really flimsy. 2. Often when have glasses and plastic mugs or cups in upper tray they fall over. 3. It has only one revolving blade on the top basket there is a pipe along the middle of the basket which means it does not take most deep pudding dishes. 4. The cutlery basket has a lid which you pop your cutlery through. We have normal cutlery they do not fit. We have had to take the lid off. 5. When you have large dinner plates in their position in the lower tray when you pull the tray out you often get them rolling out.!!! So far I have only two positives. It looks like a normal dishwasher from outside and it is quieter than my last one but these plus point do not outweigh the negative point. So stay away and get yourself a better machine. We have had it a week and I cringe every time I have to use the machine. It drives me nuts. We only bought Zanussi as our washing machine was the same make wish we had spend more time checking out various others. If you are buying online go and check them out in person as you can't see how robust they are by photos. Hope this helps. Rating:
