Don't expect any after sales service with Hotpoint! Finally got mine replaced after several break downs. Keeping my fingers crossed now, maybe I just got a dud.

The door cannot be left ajar, as it flops open. In the instruction book for the dishwasher, on page 13, it ays 'After every wash. When the wash cycle has ended, always remember to turn off the water supply tap and to leave the appliance door ajar. This way moisture and bad odours will not be trapped inside.' Clearly this is not possible, so I am to assume that I must put up with both moisture and bad odours in my new dishwasher. In my opinion, this a major design fault.
