gritty deposits are down to either useing rinse aid and a 5 in 1 tablet together ie doubling the dosage.. also clean yer filters more/scrap yer plates etc this will stop the gritty deposits

Have always had Hotpoint Machines because of the good service. Our old machine died and was replaced by the FDW85 about three years ago. After the first few days we complained about the set up because if the upper basket is in the lower position the spray arm hits the cutlery, we were told our cutlery was to big. The layout is awful and the adjustable plate racks do not hold a side plate on the bottom and if you put them on the top you cannot get cups in. Although I salt and rinse aid regularly the crockery is nearly always gritty. I could go on but complaints to Hotpoint are useless so I suggest if anyone is looking at this machine DON'T BUY IT
