Reviewed by Dishwasher slave on 26/10/2007 This post reviews the HND325 FULL DW and also gives some insight into Hoover customer care. First is original letter of complaint (posted on Hoover's online contact page) and subsequent emails (copy of original letter removed): Dear Hoover, This letter by way of complaint: We purchased an Hoover dishwasher: HND325 FULL DW On 15.6.2006 from Currys. Our complaint is that the print on the control panel seems to be water soluble and has all but disappeared. We consider this to be a manufacturing fault and is unacceptable. Other problems we found with this machine : The two plastic clips on the front ends of the upper basket running gear are not sturdy enough to stay in the locked position, they often swivel allowing the basket to fall out of its track. On the first occasion when this happened there were several items broken. The clips must be checked and returned to their locked position before the basket can be fully extended. When loading the lower basket, items such as the cutlery basket if placed at the front of the basket, can prevent the soap door from sliding open, until the dishwasher is opened at the end of the cycle when the contents ( if not soggy) will drop out. Yours sincerely, ************************************ Good Morning Hello, sorry to hear now of the problems you are experiencing with the machine, however on checking the customer service system I can find no record of any of these problems being addressed with ourselves at any point. As this is the case I would advise for you to contact the engineers office for you're area to arrange an engineer to come and look at the machine with a view to repair, the number you need to contact to arrange this is as follows 08709502942. Many Thanks * ***** ****** HooverCandy Customer Services Breightmet Ind Estate Bolton BL2 6PU (08709502943) * ********************************* Good afternoon, Thanks for your email As you will see from my original letter (copied below) This machine has nothing broken as such. My guess is that if an engineer came to look at this machine (1) nothing could be done about the lettering on the control panel, it would need to be replaced (2) the upper basket may not fall not of its track on this occasion (3) there is nothing an engineer can do about the soap door positioning, a sharp intake of breath maybe all he has to offer. I think its reasonable to expect printed information on a domestic appliance to be legible when the machine is at the recycling centre at the end of its life, this has been the case for all previous machines we have owned. The fact that the print is disappearing from the control panel means that the ink or lettering used is not suitable for this application and so "not of merchantable quality". This also applies to the two plastic clips on the front ends of the upper basket running gear which are to flimsy to remain in a locked position causing the basket to periodically fall out of its track The problem with the soap door positioning is a design fault which could be remedied if the soap door were positioned higher, alternatively the front face of the bottom basket could be higher to guard the soap door from contact with dishes etc allowing it to open unrestricted. I presume that if I arrange for an engineer to come and look at this machine, I would incur a charge? If so, this would be unfair, after all, what you have received from me so far amounts to an engineer's / snagging report of the machine in domestic use and free of charge. I have myself applied (removable) small cable ties to the two plastic clips at the ends of the upper basket's track, to retain them in the locked position, (21st century technology requires help from the "Heath Robinson" school of thought) My main concern is the disappearing printed information on the control panel. The control panel fascia looks as if it is separate from the dishwasher door itself. Could an engineer bring one with him I would be grateful if you would authorise an engineer to look at this machine at no cost to myself? I await your reply My addrsess: * ******* * ******* Yours sincerely, ========================================================= ========== Dear Hoover, This letter by way of complaint: We purchased…….. ( etc.etc. as above ) ************************************************* Hi, well you would incur a charge as the appliance is now over 12 months old and any callout over 12 months old unless covered with extended warranty are chargeable. I have spoken to the service agents D.E.S who would have to call to the machine and they agree with ourselves that if an engineer should call you would be charged, as stated in previous email to yourself , unless an engineer is allowed to call and diagnose a fault I could not comment on whether the problem you have is down to a manufacturing fault. The number to D.E.S to arrange that is 01983282939.
