I chose the Tefal Oleoclean because all the parts (except the control panel) will go in the dishwasher (although because of their awkward sizes it takes two loads as all the parts don't fit in together!). It makes good chips, but the basket isn't large enough to cook sufficient chips for a family of four in one load. The worst aspect is the oil drainage system. I had trouble with the seal round the drainage hole so that the oil leaked on some occasions - it is quite fiddly to fit back together after washing. Although I have had this fryer for only about 18 months and it is not often used, I am considering replacing it because of the way the oil is drained. The plastic oil storage container has a twist knob on the front, which moves a drainage tube at the back which locks into the drainage hole in the cooking pan to empty it, or seals the cooking pan for use if it is twisted the other way. This is no longer operational - although it moves correctly when out of the body, the tube will not connect with the drainage hole when in place, and I have had to pour the oil away direct from the cooking pan. The performance is OK, as is the fact that it is mostly dishwasher safe, but I wouldn't buy the same model again.

I have had my fryer about 12 months and paid over £100 for it. It makes very good chips and performance wise I find it quite good. However the oil container leaves a lot to be desired. The first time I used it the cap to seal the container came off in my hand. The lid of the oil container has split along the seam which consequently caused oil to spill all over the floor. Quite dangerous I thought. It comes apart for the dishwasher and is quite easy to take apart and fit together I am now trying to locate a new oil container before I dare use it again.
