Reviewed by critics2000 on 07/11/2011 We bought this cooker two years ago and are now on the point of being sent to the 'funny farm'!...it's absolutely hopeless. Christmas dinner last year was a nightmare with nothing being cooked on time...it just seems that as soon as you put more than one thing in the oven you have to increase the cooking time like you do with a microwave cooker...the rings on the hob aren't hot enough to cook a stirfry, it turns out like a stew! DON'T BUY THIS COOKER if you value your sanity...can't understand for the life of me how it passed the trading standards (brown envelopes passing around a boardroom I take it!) Totally disappointed and extremely out of pocket!!!!!!!!! Rating:
Reviewed by Helen on 17/09/2011 Argh I hate this cooker. The hob is fine but the main oven is awful!! I've had it for three years and now know that I need to cook at much higher temp than stated and for much longer. I still have not managed to bake one decent cake!!!! I had the engineer out a few times with his laptop which said everything was fine - Engineer was useless!!!! gave up in the end but cant afford a new one!!! very disappointed!!! Rating:
Reviewed by MRS Darkone on 04/08/2011 Dont touch this with a "barge pole" It's a Ariston/Indesit. Mine broke down, local engineer wouldn't come to it as he said it more bother that its worth, needs hotpoints engineer with a laptop. Over a £100 call out from hotpoint, had to order part, when fitted it did not cure fault. 3 weeks without cooker so far. My old cooker went for years only needed a thermostat in that time! Why are manufacturers putting all this electronics in cookers? in my mind its a problem just waiting to happen. Rating:
Reviewed by Ann on 01/03/2011 Cooker OK, Hob Ok, BUT the writing on the front panel has wiped off! Contacted Hotpoint - was told that not to use anything other than warm soapy water and soft cloth, to which I have been doing. . . not impressed with rude email and I have def not used bleach on it! Waiting for their next reply. Cooker not even a year old yet : ( Rating:
Reviewed by Nat on 30/06/2010 Everything fine for the first six months, then the main oven started making a strange grinding noise when it was switched on, then came a big bang. The electricity in the entire house was knocked out and the very unhelpful people at Hotpoint say it will be five days before they can send an engineer to come have a look at it. When it was pointed out to the Hotpoint rep on the phone that my family would be without a hot meal for five days + they couldn't give a toss. This is their customer service for you. We took out five year cover when we bought the cooker in Dec 2009, what was the point if you have to wait five days at least before they can send someone to help you. Thanks Hotpoint, never buying from you again. It will be toast and sandwiches for lunch and dinner for my fmaily for at least the next five days. Brilliant! Rating:
Reviewed by Margery J on 16/03/2010 Don't buy this cooker if you need precise oven temperatures (for baking etc). Neither the top or main oven of my cooker heat up to the temperature set on the dials. When I complained to Hotpoint I was told that there could be a 20 degree Centigrade difference between dial and actual temperature. The Hotpoint cookery book supplied with the cooker advises 170 -180 degrees for 20 minutes for victoria sponge, my top oven at 200 degrees was actually 165 degrees and took 30 minutes to cook an inferior sample of my usual light sponge. Reviewed by Chris M on 12/04/2009 I have had this oven for 1.5 yrs now, and I love it! The oven is doing very well, and I use it a lot for various types of cooking. At first I was not too impressed with the hob, but when I bought some proper pots and pans, it is a dream! heats up fast, and the controls react instantly to reduce the heat if it is too warm. The top oven has a brilliant grill, and it does a pizza quite well if you use the grill after the initial cooking. The main oven takes ten minutes to heat up to 200C, and it lets you know when it is warm, so you don't have to look at it all the time. I love it! Rating:
Reviewed by john robinson on 20/12/2008 Just to confirm everything thats been said the oven doesn't heat evenly the hob burns the minute minder can only be heard by standing over it really this thing is absolute rubbish. After my Cannon duel fuel cooker this is agony to cook on Rating:
Reviewed by Carol T on 08/07/2008 Worst cooker in history. Fan oven does not distribute heat evenly, things on top shelf burn. Do not buy if you have child, knobs can be knocked very easily and hob will come on. Hotpoint are now Indesit plus a few other well known brands. Buyers beware!!!!!!! Rating:
Reviewed by Casimmo on 14/11/2007 The service I am receiving following a complaint to Hotpoint about this cooker is terrible (see comment from Casimmo 27/10/07). After three engineering visits we are still calling Hotpoint everday for an update and told to get back to them in 24 hours. We now have to wait for another engineer to come out. Another day off work, waiting all day for them to do nothing!!! Rating:
Reviewed by Casimmo on 27/10/2007 This has to be the worst cooker in history. Whilst the hob is fine, the oven is useless. The bottom never heats up whilst the top burns everything. To test tihs we put three pizzas into the oven, and whilst the top one was burnt the bottom one was not even warm in the middle. We have tried all the settings and had the engineer out twice but to no avail. The intelligent cooking system is a joke as it does not compensate for other items being in the oven. An annoying function is that the oven fan runs on for ages after switching the oven off. Rating:
Reviewed by MEMYSELFAND IRENE on 05/09/2007 The dual solar glow ring does not work. The fan speeds up and slow down .None of the controls work as they should. All round a very very dissapointing cooker. Rating:
Reviewed by Steve Hall on 05/07/2007 Hello. We are struggling with the second of these cookers in the space of a couple of months. The fan in the main oven slows down and speeds back up randomly. The fault is intermittant and if you aren't around to turn the power off when it sticks completely after a few seconds it overheats and trips out the fuse in your consumer unit. The trouble is when you reset the fuse the machine is totally dead with a very bad burning smell. Hotpoint service are slow to answer and not keen to help. This is a real shame as the features of the cooker are great for the price (as long as you don't pay high street prices, approx £200 cheaper buying online than Currys, Comet etc) and it's really nice to use.
