Reviewed by Gez on 19/01/2007 A very unimpressive cooker. The Belling Forum 334 at around £440 represents very poor value for money and, if what I have been told is correct, it is made in Turkey by BEKO. A few months ago a relative bought a BEKO machine for around £310 and this, in my opinion, is a far better designed and has features that the Belling lacks. Be aware of the following poor design features ........ ... the top oven door does NOT open to flat or nearly flat so that the grill pan cannot be rested on it for basting, adding cheese for cheese on toast, checking cooking progress etc etc. ..... the grill pan handle does not slide nicely onto the pan - it really is very, very fiddly - buy this cooker and you will see exactly what I mean - try not to burn yourself in the process!!!! ...... just like the much cheaper BEKO, the Belling Forum 334 has a ceramic hobbut, unlike the BEKO, it has NOT got lights on the hob to warn you and others that the hob is still hot - maybe long after the hotplates have been turned off. An excelle nt safety feature that is present on the BEKO DVC565 - (around £340)- but NOT on the much more expensive Belling. I have contacted Belling's customer services about this omission and they really do not want to know. I pointed out to them that the instructions for the Forum 334 states the following ... "HOB HOT LIGHT - This will operate soon after any of the four boiling plate controls are turned on and will remain illuminated until the ceramic surface has cooled" and that the instructions did NOT exclude any models from this - again, they said the Forum was up to specification and there was nothing more they could do. Talk of my worries that I or other family members could accidently receive burns from a hob that we didn't realise was hot was of no concern to Belling customer services. My advice would be to avoid this cooker - purchase a Beko and by doing so save yourself a great deal of money. I got burned!!!! Rating:
