Reviewed by Natalie on 28/04/2009 I haven't used this bread maker much other than to make pizza dough and I have had it for just over a year and it has broke as it no longer cooks the bread, so can only make dough in it, but I did get good results from it whilst it worked! Rating:
Reviewed by Rhona on 05/01/2009 The Morphy Richards breadmaker 48280 was given to me for a Christmas present by my husband. On January 4th (after about 14 uses) it broke. The motor that turns the kneading paddle seems to have packed in, their is no noise coming from it at all. I telephoned Morphy Richards on their very expensive 0844 helpline number and was kept on hold for 25 minutes listening to musack. I was then put through to an operator who asked for the machine's serial number. I had searched all over the machine and had not been able to find one. The so-called helpline operator said it would be on the 'silver sticker'. Yes, I have the silver sticker but definitely NO serial number on it, just the model number and standard power rating details. The only other sticker was the QC one (what a joke!) So, basically, without the SN there's no help from the helpline and the only advice is to return it to Argos. Typically, my husband does not have the receipt now (he never keeps them grrrrrr) so it's going to be a credit card chargeback job if Argos don't play nice with me. Don't buy this machine if for no other reason than that the helpline will be an expensive waste of your time if (or more likely when) the machine decides to stop working of its own accord. Reviewed by S J Morris on 26-07-2005 Very good results, but adapt their recipes. Their recipe says to put dried milk in, but this makes it spongy like cake. Leave the dried milk out. Otherwise its very easy to use and cooks very well. Easy to use dial. Rating:
Reviewed by Mike Pitman on 28-02-2005 Excellent results for all size loaves & all types of loaf i.e. white/brown/wholemeal/granary. Fastbake white loaves acceptable, but slightly doughy & require futher 10 minutes baking on completion in a preheated conventional convection oven. Have not tried speciality breads with exception of sun-dried tomato bread which was very good. Not yet tried cake or jam recipes yet. Use less sugar & salt than their recipe states for all types of bread - 1 teaspoon of each for large loaves & half a teaspoon for small loaves. Rating:
