This is a new compact electric mower from John Deere whose reputation is unsurpassed. If you have a small lawn and limited space for storage this is an ideal mower for your needs. This is the petrol version of the R40EL featured above and has a 4hp Briggs & Stratton 4 stroke engine, a strong polypropylene deck and the Turbo Star collection system. It also has a 44 litre capacity grassbag with bag-full indicator and a central 6 position cutting height adjuster.

Perfect! Easy to use, lightweight mower. I just used it a couple times and I'm very satisfied.

Very disappointed. Purchased 2009. Has been a dog to start from day 1! Returned to dealer twice but is still no better. I would have expected far better from a mower of this price. I am considering giving it away and getting a cheap one.

Just purchased and used the petrol R40. First impressions very good. Easy to start and use. Simple to adjust cutting heights. Ideal for medium sized lawns as advertised.
