I bought a 53 pro in July 2007. I use it to cut an acre of grass. I intend buying a lawn tractor but in the mean time use this. The engine is more than powerful enough for the job I get lazy and leave the grass until its about 100mm plus. The problem then is collection and emptying every 10 seconds. If you keep it trimmed the thing goes quite a way before needing emptying. I have broken a tab off the bag like david said. The thing is heavy, it takes two to lift down steps. Its well made, with a big engine. Hayter has shifted production to Italy for some reason, I didnt like that. I would buy it again even compared to Honda and the like. Very powerful.

i cut grass all day, i`ve had 2 rangers, not the pro type, not much differance exsept a bumper bar and handle bar supports,,,they look big and impresive but i found some faults,,1 grassbag wedge shaped makes it hard to empty when full as with all hayters 2. grassbox hook ons plastic and can break off then the job stops as i found out,,3. gearbox drive did not pull good, found myself waiting for the drive to pull,, 4. the three gears load of bollocks...i have sold these and now have the 3 in 1 hayter 10 times better. same fault with the bag design wedge shape , forget the side shoot, too messy unless the grass is bone dry, i`ve screwed it shut, the mulch system works ok,if the grass is dryish,,but its the drive i like it pulls you along, never let me down,,even now when i have swapped the pully on the gearbox, for a smaller one, the mower is off like ,,,, a fast walking pace, one other little problem is when the box is getting full the mower rocks back with the weight ,but its not too bad cos you know when it full,, i have used these mowers for two years now and they seem ok ,,i mean one job i do is 5 hours non stop cutting with the mulch system, i will cut mor grass in a week than most do in years,,,
