Reviewed by DAVID on 22/01/2011 UPDATE, FOR HAYTER 3 IN 1 I`M STILL USING THE HAYTER 3 IN 1`S, I HAVE 3 OF THEM FOR THE ROUGH JOBS, AND A 48 FOR GARDENS ETC. PUTTING A SMALLER PULLY WHEEL ON THE GEARBOX TO MAKE THE MACHINE GO FASTER ON DOES WEAR OUT THE GEARBOX FASTER AND AT NEARLY £100 AT TIME ITS NOT CHEAP, SO MAYBE NOT SUCH A GOOD IDEA, THOUGH I DO SPEED THEM UP BY BENDING THE BIT OF METAL AT THE FRONT OF THE MOWER WITH A SPRING LIKE THING ATTATCHED. ALSO I FIND THESE MOWERS GREAT FOR PICKING UP HEDGE CUTTINGS/ETC, IF THE CUTTINGE ARN`T TOO LONG THE MOWER WILL SUCK UP THE CUTTINGS AND CHOP THEM UP, GREAT IF YOUR HAVING TO BAG THE CUTTINGS, THEN JUST GO ALONG WITH A BLOWER AND BLOW THE BITS UNDER THE HEDGE/WHEREVER, DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF WOOD IT WILL CHOP UP SOME FAIRLY THICK PIECES. APART FROM WEAR AND TEAR STILL OK, MAIN THING IS THE TREAD ON THE REAR WHEELS WEAR OUT. Rating:
Reviewed by david in leeds on 04/08/2010 little update, i put a smaller pully on the gearbox it goes like the clappers now...but it does wear the box out quicker, you can speed it up by increasing the revs, just bend the bit of metal with the spring on on the carb, one fault i have found is after a while the wheels wear inside the tyres and they start to spin when setting off, after a while this gets worse, the particals then find their way into the drive cog, which means taking off the wheels and cleaning the cog and the inside of the wheel, which you have to do anyway every now and then mainly on the left hand wheel anyway due to grass getting in the wheel, also clean the little drive pin that seizes up somtimes and has to be freed and the cog squeeks,,another thing due to the design of the wheels is the outside of the tyres can wear by scuffing curbs etc also resulting in spinning wheels and the side of the tyre falling off.. Reviewed by Mickleplum on 03/03/2009 Cracking Mower, These things climb hills like they aren't there. Tough and robust. Wouldn't mind a higher powered engine but it does the job. I use mine professionally and both collect and mulch with it. Had a the ignition fail on me just after 12 months but soon fixed if you know where to look and get the part. The crank protection works too, trust me I've certainly tested it. Only draw back i've found is the travel speed of the mower. Too slow in comparison to others in my fleet. However, might take up on the other reviewer's idea and fit a smaller pully to the mower. I'm a hayter fan at the best of times and highly recommend the 3 in 1. Rating:
