Reviewed by G AUSTEN on 13/09/2011 PLASTIC DECK HOLDING ROLLER BROKE BAD WORKMAN SHIP Rating:
Reviewed by DJH on 26/04/2011 A good machine which copes well with our bumpy, rocky and sloping terrain. However, there is a serious problem with the drive mechanism. The lever started to tear across the plastic push part and has gradually got worse in spite of various glue solutions being tried. The clutch cable seems to have lengthened and I have had to bodge a job to shorten it for it to work at all. Rating:
Reviewed by jc on 24/03/2011 i have had mine for about 3/4 year no problems i broke the handle but had it fixed i crash mine around and go over pegs and stones that i havent seen and the blade is fine. Rating:
Reviewed by S Halstead on 28/06/2010 Again the same fault with the housing - I tried super glue to no avail so shall try the araldite and metal strips. Thank you PP. Rating:
Reviewed by pp on 21/05/2010 Yes, same problem with deck cracking around height adjuster, but easily fixed with araldite glue, which worked for one season, I;ve repeated this again and added some metal strips, fixed with self taping screws Rating:
Reviewed by Chris on 23/04/2010 A good mower until the polymer, (posh word for plastic), deck developed a huge tear around the base of the height adjuster mechanism. I can get a new deck for £100 plus, but I can get a complete mower for that from Ebay. I have seen several other examples of this problem - it is a basic design/manufacturing problem. I have a Hayter Spirit and an old Hayter Hawk which are much better. Rating:
Reviewed by Nick J on 30/08/2009 I have had the same problem with the plastic lugs on the drive side of the housing breaking. This is clearly a design fault that should have been remedied...or a manufacturers' recall. As others have said, the cost of a new housing is over £100 and frankly, how long would a new housing last? I will be very reluctant to buy Atco products in future Rating:
Reviewed by Lee F on 26/07/2009 I have given this product a 3 rating of good, because I have had this machine for 8 years. It is easy to use & gives a nice finish. However I have recently experienced the same fault as the other reviewer, and like they say, the only option is too replace the deck at the cost of 50% of a new machine. I tried to repair mine (unsucessfully) and so will now consign mine to the recyling bin & be buying either a Honda or a Hayter to replace it with. Hope this helps. Rating:
Reviewed by T Pacey Nottingham on 13/07/2008 I bought my Admiral 16s around four years ago no problem at all until today 08/07/08 when the plastic deck which the rear roller is fastened to with two self tapping screws which go into plastic lugs broke. It is now contantly in drive mode. The deck alone is around £110 + vat and plus the cost to have it repaired by a dealer versus the fact that this is around 50% towards a new one, which does not seem to be a good way forward and hence it appears to me that this fault is down to poor design. Your comments on this would be appreciated and whatever you can suggest to help overcome the costs of the repair. Rating:
